@richardstewart41358 жыл бұрын
HI Chris. Great video as always. You would be surprised at how many times I have seen cars that had bad horns and the repairs followed your example rather closely. One thing about the horn relay. If you hear a click, that only means that power is getting to the coil. The contacts are checked by checking the voltage as you did earlier. In my experience, if you get voltage to the connector, the relay is good. If you get a click and no voltage, the contacts are bad. And if you get no click and no voltage, it might be the relay but can also be the fuse or horn button. Its always good to see the younger generations understanding cars as well as you do. Keep up the good work! -Still keeping em running at 61

@chrisfix10 жыл бұрын
Did the airbag go off? A jolt like that could cause stuff to disconnect. I would think this is more of a problem in the steering wheel. There is a wire in the wheel that is a common problem with Trailblazers. Since you dont get a click, I would think that is where your problem is.
@CrimsonHawk0910 жыл бұрын

Garth Mounce I'll go check it out. I like posting relevant "how to" videos to the respective forums to help people diagnose and fix their cars. I tried the GMtruckclub forum but they PMed me saying I need to pay and be a vendor to post youtube videos. I messaged them back saying how I contribute and just want to help people fix their cars but they seem like they just want money. Ill check out GMTNation.
@garthmounce933110 жыл бұрын
That's ridiculous of them.. But, GMTN is a non profit site and only utilizes enough ads to keep the site running, no one makes a profit there. There are vendors there but idk how that works and whether they have to pay a fee or not. I doubt that they'll pull any of that crap on you like GMtruckclub did. Stick around over there and you might enjoy it, everyone is very engaging and helpful and appreciative of the how-to's that people create. It's a lot easier to give someone a link than to type out how to do the repair for every single person that comes by.

Hi Chris, Great tutorial video how to diagnose the car faulty horn , The only thing that I have noticed as a bad point to your video is that you forgat to cover the customer car against scratches and your job has left some marks or scratches in to the plastic cover trim of the eangine to your customers car ?? You can check that if you replay the video as you have tighten the horn screw right on the plastic trim without any protection ? I don't know how that safety precautions has been missing from your job plan ?? You been very carefully alloys about that ! Thanks anyway for shearing 👍

I'm troubleshooting the horn on my '03 Impala. The fuse is definitely OK and I swapped out the relay from my '05 Impala which is good and the identical part, and neither the high or low tone horn works. I can hear the pulsing clicking when I actuate the alarm with the key fob, and still the horn doesn't work. I checked the power to the horn plug with an analog multimeter by actuating the alarm and the multimeter needle jumps with each pulse, so I know that power to the horn is OK. I also connected the horn terminals to the battery posts with jumper wires, and the horn still doesn't work. For all intents and purposes, it appears that both horns are shot, but it's curious that both horns would fail at the same time, or maybe they failed one at a time but I never noticed the change in tone. I'm just trying to be sure that the clock spring or some other breach in the circuit isn't the culprit. I also checked by pressing the horn with the steering wheel turned to various positions. Nothing. (I also have nobody available to help by pressing the horn while I listen for the single click of the relay, which I can't hear like I can when I actuate the alarm and am able to hear the repetitive clicks.) Thank you.

Who would have thought Chris I will buy this car 6 years later
@jamesmartin81518 жыл бұрын
Hey, probably not related, but my 98 honda accord started making a strange low honk the other day. Right after that moment, my horn became perpetually muted and kind of quacking instead of blaring. Anyways, I don't have a lot of shame, so I thought that maybe something having to do with my horn speaker was blown out or somehow disconnected. So I put off getting it repaired. I'm walking home today, one month later and the car sitting outside has been quacking quiet spurts while totally turned off for two days, and apparently had been quacking for 5 hours+. The battery I just bought was dead, the starter doesn't kick at all when i turn the key. and whenever the door was opened, it would stop, close the door again, and it would start again. I could do nothing to stop it. and eventually the battery died so fully that it fell asleep and stopped quacking finally. I'm a college student and live pretty low because of money, if I had time to take the car in or if I had money to do so, I would. but to do so would also be to have it towed. I'll be trying tomorrow to jump it and see if it can move. If there's any clue out there about what happened today, I would be ever so grateful. I'm really worried about my car. I've had it for so long. thanks alot yall. I really hope someone out there has an Idea. -R
