There are a few different style faucets, if yours looks like this one, chances are you'll be able to fix it using this video. You'll need a wrench and possibly a tool to remove your faucet handle. Good luck and remember to turn off your water if you take off the valve.

Just did this repair this morning. Two cartridges, 2 rubber seats and springs and a tube of silicone grease (optional). Total was around $40 at Home Depot. Mine was leaking under both handles. I may have been able to just tighten the large nuts but I decided to do a complete repair. Good for another 10 years (fingers crossed).

Very helpful video! Here are a few tips/tricks that can help first-timers. ---- (1) When buying supplies for this project, it can be very helpful to take a photo of your faucet with you to the hardware store. ---- (2) The valve can be quite tight to remove! To help loosen it, you can gently push up under the edges of the valve with a SMALL FLAT-HEAD SCREWDRIVER (think computer kit sizing). Don't force the driver in (it'll bend or tear the plastic). Move it around the valve base to loosen all sides. At the same time, you can use your other hand to pull up on the valve. With some patience, it should come loose. ---- (3) The "o-ring" you mentioned as "secured to the base" is called a "seat" - and this is often the source of drips. It's sold as a set with a spring that sits underneath it. If you're shopping for them at a hardware store, you'll ask for SEATS AND SPRINGS. If that's the source of the drip, you want to replace both the seat and spring at the same time. You'll need NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS to pull both parts out of the recess they sit in. To replace them, place the spring - small end up!!! - down in the well, then use your pliers again to hold the seat so you can place onto the spring. To push the seat into place, you can use a couple of q-tips or the eraser end of a pencil. Don't use your pliers to put force it - you may damage the rubber seat.

I put the parts in a plastic bag and took them to the hardware store. I pulled them out and without even examining them the helpful clerk recognized it as Delta hardware. The valve was a bit hard to get off. I ended up just using pliers on the stem at the top and that did the trick. I stuck an Allen wrench into the seats and springs instead of needle-nose pliers - an auto mechanic stole my needle-nose pliers out of my car and I don't have one anymore. Needle-nose would probably work better, but even a narrow screwdriver would probably work. Good tip on which way to orient the spring - Delta should have included a diagram with their replacement parts. I had to do an image search on the internet to figure that out.

Thank you SO much! I felt that I had the basics down of what to expect when I took the bathroom faucet apart, but mine didn't look ANYTHING like the faucet in another video. You did a great job explaining what to look for, and what to pull off and what to unscrew and so on. Took the pieces to the hardware store and got just what I needed. I DID find out the hard way that there is a left-hand faucet handle and a right-hand faucet handle, so it's REALLY important to keep track of what came from where.

Better than the video on Delta's site, which was longer and only had a single faucet instead of two like yours and mine. I made a couple of dumb mistakes due to being a novice at this. 1: After I replaced the seat and spring and put the valve back in I decided to see if the dripping had been solved by what I did before putting the handle back on. I turned the water back on and watched for a few seconds, observing no drips. Hooray, I thought! That did it, and just then hilarity ensued. A geyser erupted shooting the valve, spring and everything flying. The water reached the lights above the mirror and I tried to turn them off as I also tried to turn off the water again at the same time....not possible and I was afraid I would blow a fuse with all that water on the light fixture so I hit the lights, turned off the water and tried to salvage some mail that had been laying on the counter. Yeah, notice how I didn't say I put the bolt back on before trying that? It dawned on me that it wasn't just for the handle, it held the valve in place too. I'm laughing about it now, but the rugs in that bathroom are still drying. If the lights had been on long enough to be hot I can imagine the bulbs bursting, but at least that didn't happen. 2: I had a second sink with the same problem and I already had the hot water turned off and the handle and bolt off. I decided to take a break and brush my teeth before finishing that job. I felt sure it would be okay to run the cold water while the hot water was turned off even though the bolt was off. WRONG! Even though the hot water was turned off , the cold water came out of the tap and the valve for the hot water - not so much a geyser as a spray and I just had to turn the cold faucet off, but more hilarity. Some may call those naive, novice, noob or stupid mistakes, but I consider it a learning experience. Also, if it's a Delta faucet and you need an Allen wrench, don't even bother trying your metric set - at least if you're in the US. I sometimes wonder why I have both English and metric tools - this is why!

Excellent! Quick change out- According to the Lowe's guy - if it is a Delta Faucet - there is a lifetime warranty on the original. You have to call them first. It doesn't help if it is already leaking and you need to replace it before they can ship one.

Thank you for mentioning that you may need to apply some pressure when reinstalling the new cartridge. It wasn’t going in, and the water pressure, even when turned off, was making some leftover water shoot back up (thereby displacing the seat and spring). It was harder than I thought, and i am not 💯 i fixed it, but i just wanted to thank you for mentioning the pressure thing… when i applied pressure, it finally clicked in. Many thanks! 😊

A couple of more helpful hints: Delta faucets like this typically take a 3/32" hex wrench to remove the handle set screws. Also, if you're replacing the rubber or ceramic seat and spring make sure the narrow end of the spring is inserted into the rubber or ceramic seat. Then reseat them with the spring down.

Thank you. This was very helpful to get me started, but please add more detail about the seat and spring in the base for those of us who know NOTHING. With the advice of the Menard's guy, the repair cost me a dollar (for seat and spring) instead of $13 (cost of the stem). The problem was with that rubber seat you see at the bottom of the water.

Most of the time the washer develops a small area where the water seeps through. By simply removing the washer and lightly rubbing in on some fine sandpaper, the uneven area can be removed and the washer won't leak. Those washers and spring should cost around 29 cents. Not sure why stores charge at least $2.50 for one.

I replaced mine as shown and the drip is gone however I now have very low water pressure on the hot side. I've taken off the aerator and checked it. That isn't the problem. There was absolutely no problem with pressure before I replaced the valve. I took the new one off and put the old (with drip) back on but the pressure is still not back to normal. I've shut the water off and turned back on numerous times. We could probably live with the low pressure but it's pretty darn aggravating. Any ideas?
