I would have never even tried to do this myself until I watched your video. After seeing how high-priced the rollers were to replace ($80.00 for two), I called Pella and they sent me new ones, free of charge, as they said my door was still under warranty. I then replaced them just like you showed. Thanks for the help.

I had an issue with the door sliding and wouldn’t have attempted to remove the door before watching your video. I removed the door, cleaned out the rollers, and put it back on without a problem. Thank you!!!

Hey Jon, Thanks a ton for a great educational video. I spoke with a lovely lady named Savannah at Pella's customer service and she echoed your instructions almost to the letter. To top it off she's sending me a set of new rollers/adjusters and some Pella silicone spray lube at no charge! She said specifically NOT to use WD-40 as it gums things up and makes the problem worse. So there actually is one thing that you can't use WD-40 for! Who knew?

Thank you for the video. This was immensely helpful. I’ve been wanting new rollers for a long time but didn’t have the know how to do it myself. And I would never have figured that you actually have to pry them out to replace them. Just ordered a pair of rollers on eBay. Cost was $68 plus tax. A little steep, but quick delivery. Called Pella. They would take 2-3 weeks to get the part and the cost would have been in the $50’s. So, maybe a little cheaper but not worth the delay. Thanks again.

Just make sure the adjustment screw isn't unscrewed too far out. The screw will hit the wooden door frame and the old roller won't come out. Ask me how I know.

Pella slider was installed with the slider sliding on the exterior side instead of interior. Can you show me how to reverse the them so the sliding door will be on the INSIDE of the house so that I can put a slide blocker for added security?? Thank you!!!

I have never done that… I think it would be a major undertaking… I assume you would need to remove the whole door and turn it around. But then it will open the opposite direction…

Your door was put in backwards to begin with. Whats the sliding pane doing on the outside?

My glass was so tight that I have issues taking it out and out back in… I have to remove the plastic guides on top on door to gain 1/8 of an inch. Question: why my door became so tight to take out from the rail and frame???? You think the aluminum clad wood inside got expanded after 40 years. Will I be able to order new doors from Pella without the whole project to replace the whole structure… Just no more rooms for future accommodation of expanding of woods for door. Will it still expand after 40 years. Hate to do the whole glass sliding door new project. Costly much…..

How did you determine the roller part number? .... Nevermind. Your PN# looks like mine so I ordered a pair. Pretty easy job after seeing someone else do it. My door was easier to remove. I only needed to lower the door (raised the wheels) and it popped right out. I wish I had begun this task years ago. Funny how you'll just put up with things.

Any advice on removing the stationary door? The bottom trim is rotting and I need to rebuild the bottom. Don’t see how it’s fastened to the frame.

The track rail has to be accurately level for the heavy glass sliding door for me to slide open smoothly after I managed to put the door back on rail. When put the sliding door back has to be one roller at a time. Use pry bar is a must. Have fun and good luck all. Roller is only $16 each at this time.

Btw. This roller is very poorly designed. You need to ply up the sliding door before you adjust the roller up and down. No more than 5 turns. Or the roller will get damage. Pleas study the roller carefully how it is made. It is very weak. But when installed correctly it will last.

I did not have to adjust the rollers to get the door off... on the contrary you don’t want to do you can set your new rollers to the correct height before you install to save time

Do not adjust the roller up and down without using a big screw driver the sliding door. This is illuminating stress on the roller when adjusting. Make sure the roller still rolls after done when sliding the door.

You said two screws under the rubber bumper.

They are not under the bumper. Do you see holes in the rubber? If so there will be screws in the holes... they can be a pain to get at because bugs make there nests in there. You probably won’t be able to see the screws either when you look in the holes. You will need to dig in there with a Phillips head screw driver and get the junk out of it. Once you feel the screw driver engage the screw you can remove the screw.

I found the roller adjustment holes/screws. At bottom of my door behind two plastic white caps. Super hidden 😂

When I was looking I believe there were some different Options. A lot of people have Called Pella and had luck getting answers… some have even received free parts.
