Please show the screen and how it operates with the Pella Impervia sliding door and please show the track system. Our Corgi ran inside as I was closing our screen door a few years ago. He hit the frame and broke the track of our Comfort Window sliding door. Using those stick up velcro screens has worn thin. We are looking for a replacement fiberglass Pella Impervia but would like to see a better designed track and screen system. I plan to go ahead with a consultation with Pella, but giving this to you for other potential door shoppers with similar concerns. Thank you for your informative video.

Fantastic video! We have 60" x 80" french doors that need replacing. Do you think the Impervia sliding door opening will be wide enough given the 60" total width limitation? We viewed a few other sliders with thicker frames that limited the total opening and it felt too small.
@HoustonWindowExperts Жыл бұрын
Brian, on the 60 inch wide door, you can expect your clear opening to be around 25"-27". Almost every sliding door has a stopper built in to prevent the door from opening fully. They do that so that you do not bash your fingers against the fixed panel when you're sliding the door open. It might be a little risky, but you could take that bumper out of there and give yourself another 2" or so.

There is a new product out from Jeld-wen called the Auraline. It is a composite. It would be nice to compare Auraline and the Impervia sliding door.

We have 2 Pella sliding glass doors and love them. When they were installed the technician left his hand print on the back side of the glass. Can I remove the front glass panel so I can clean the back of that panel and the front of the sealed glass panel?

You cannot separate the two places of glass. That must have been done at the factory. Call them back

Does this door have a key to unlock from the outside? Can it be keyed to match the rest of the house doors?
@HoustonWindowExperts Жыл бұрын
It does have an option for a key. I believe it is a schlage lock. As long as your other doors use the same key blank then it can be made to work with the other doors.

Jeff, thank you for your videos. I am looking to possibly purchase the Pella Impervia series of windows and the Impervia sliding door. I am trying to confirm that the Impervia series has Cardinal glass in the Utah region. I believe the Pella website discusses the Sun Defense coating but not the actual brand of glass. I did reach out the Pella dealers, but the answer seemed mixed at best. Can you assist?
@HoustonWindowExperts Жыл бұрын
It's definitely Cardinal Glass. You're going to love it.

When reviewing sliding doors, can you add a bit of info about the wheels (steel, plastic, ball bearings, etc) and any historical issues the manufacturer has had with the rollers.

Love your videos! Is there a comparable sloding glass door from a less expensive company where you don't pay for the name?
@HoustonWindowExperts2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and your question. You can find a decent sliding door at Lowe's or home depot at a fair price. They will still have a brand name but it may not be a top tier brand name and therefore you will save some money.
@landscapesam2 жыл бұрын
Quick question. I'm purchasing a Pella 250 series patio door. It's 2 glass panels with the Advanced low E and argon. However, if I add the interior blind option it's just filled with air instead of argon. I understand it will not be as efficient this way, but they can't tell me how much cooler the glass will be and how much less efficient. I'm in Minnesota so I need efficiency, but would really like to have those blinds. Advice? Thank you!
@HoustonWindowExperts2 жыл бұрын
I would go ahead and add the blinds if I were you. Argonne gas is helpful, but mostly would reducing condensation on the glass. I think you would be just fine.
@landscapesam2 жыл бұрын
@@HoustonWindowExperts have you heard of any instances where the blinds need repairs? Turns out there is only a 2 yr warranty on them.
@HoustonWindowExperts2 жыл бұрын
The reason they only put a 2-year warranty on the blinds is because they do tend to fail. It depends on how much you use them. I try to avoid them if at all possible. If they're important to you, I think you'll probably be okay with it. You just have to be prepared to repair them if needed.

Hi Jeff. I am interested in getting one or the other of the windows that you taught us about. Windsor Pinnacle, Pella impervia, or Andersen E or architect. I have been having a nightmare finding intel on good dealers in my area. I either get horrible reviews or there are no reviews to be found. I tried Jeff's list and Burke got back to me to let me know that there aren't any dealers that you know near Staten Island NY. I am petrified about doing business with a shoddy dealer. You should read some of the horror stories that are out there. You're like a fairytale by comparison. Help

No, it's just the length of the warranty. Just like a car with a 50,000 mile warranty doesn't mean You should expect to have issues with the car.

@@HoustonWindowExperts The size caught my eye because I just installed an Impervia 2.0 door myself. Mine is 6'X8'. I went with the STC glass to cut down on some road noise behind the house. The door seems great so far. Nice and heavy and solid. I'll be curious how the single weatherstrip seal under the sliding panel wears over time. It's interesting how setting the height of the sliding panel affects the compression on this seal.
