Well got the stationary door out but the sliding door will NOT come out. I look to see if it was the rollers it's isn't . It's the 2 end pieces and such a tiny amount stopping me from lifting it out. I have had it calling someone to do it. It's 106 outside and way too hot for this girl .

Thank you for sharing a similar style (AND VINTAGE), doors installed in our house, I (the Boss) had decided that she was tired of the noise and struggle with our four doors. I therefore begrudgingly looked for pertinent videos, since the majority are of apparently New unused doors, I felt that was an excellent reason to abandon the project before I even started! Thank you for your inspiration and giving my wife a great reason to say, “I told you that the doors were repairable”.

Thanks to your video I got up the confidence to take down/out the door, but had to call a neighbor to help carry it outside. HEAVY! There was a ball of yarn wrapped around one of the roller assemblies. It now moves with the touch of a finger instead a full hand and shoulder! I'm surprised it didn't start a fire with all that friction!

Thanks! I was able to fix mine, I had one bad roller on both the "fixed" side and the slider side. So I just swapped the good one on the fixed side, for the bad one on the slider side. Sprayed some graphite lube for good measure and now I have a working slider! Free and took about 15 minutes, no f-bombs dropped on this repair.

One point you forgot to mention - the bottom track may not be perfectly perpendicular to the jamb. When adjust the rollers one should bring the door almost to the closed position and make sure that the edge of the door is parallel with the jamb. If not, adjust the roller height so that it is.

My sliding glass door is 21 years old. Last winter during minus 10c I noticiced that it was skipping, making more noise and harder to open and close. This summer I removed the door, removed the rollers and noticed that the track was extremly dirty. So I cleaned it and noticed that there were uneven dents in it. I couldn't figure out how to replace it so I decided to even it out by sanding it over with a 12 inch board. Once that was done, I cleaned the rollers. Made sure they were still viable and then reassembled everything and now my sliding door works like new.

Nice video. I've never seen anyone slide the side rails up like that. I will keep that in mind if the bottom rail doesn't come off. Interesting but unnecessary. Those rollers should slide out the bottom without much resistance. The sides of the rail are smooth. That door is dual glazed. It should have tandem rollers. I'm surprised it didn't have them already. Prime-line D-1845 would work nicely, although in general, it's probably good advice to use an exact replacement if you're not sure which better roller will replace it.. It's always a good idea to replace both.
