You are a genius. I wish I had seen your video sooner. I frogged my work 5× before I thought to myself that there must be a better way. A million thx 🤩

Thank you, thank you thank you! I appreciate that your yarn was just one color. It helped me see how to pick up my stitches. I'm working a hat on circulars and your clear instructions were perfect. I'd given up on brioche in the past because I couldn't fix a mistake. Now I've had a win thanks to you!

You are so welcome! I've started doing tutorials more often in the last couple months, and I am learning that folks love solid yarn in lighter colors, plus minimal nails/jewelry. So glad this was helpful :) -Heidi

Nice job providing a clear explanation. When I have to do this, I like to put a lifeline through the work just below whatever I'm trying to fix before I start ripping out. I use a contrasting and much smaller thread/yarn together with a tapestry needle. Start on one side, and pull the lifeline through the right-hand leg of knit-facing "V". Flip the work and do the same on the other side (be sure to stay on the same row). Now you don't have to worry so much about pulling too far. I also like to use a much smaller knitting needle when putting the piece back on the needle. Once all the loops are in place, you can return to the regular size when resuming work after the repair. I find it's a lot easier to handle the stitches and yarn-overs when the loops aren't so tightly wound around the needle.

Thomas Stambaugh, great ideas! Thank you. Love that you use a smaller needle for replacing the stitches initially. I will do that now. Makes good sense!

Thank you for this. Very helpful. I'm using lifelines like every inch, because my yarn is very thin and delicate. I'm working on another project with fisherman's rib, so I'm tending to either knit the slip here or knit one below. Lol.

This video really helped! My mom has been working on her brioche scarf and somehow she keeps getting distracted and messes up and has to start over because neither of us could fix it but finally I decided to learn how to fix it so she can finish the scarf already! lol, anyways this video really helped! Very helpful!👍

Thank you for the tutorial! I saw another video on how to fix the brioche stitch and, when I knitted a new row, it had come out completely skewed. Your video helped explain where I went wrong. Very informative and well taught! Thanks again!

Thank you SO much for this!! I’m a novice knitter and have a headband pattern that I LOVE that uses brioche. Ive had numerous headaches over dropped brioche stitches when making the headband and looked at lots and lots of videos to fix the drops. I can’t do the ones with crocheting up the length of a dropped stich, they just don’t make sense to me, and the only other video I’ve found with a method that worked for me was 10,000 times more complicated than the one you provided here. Not to mention, it’s very poorly filmed, going in and out of focus, and super hard to follow. I always dreaded a drop knowing I’d have to go back to that crazy video. With yours, I’ll never have to again!! Of ALLL the videos I’ve watched, no one has EVER mentioned making sure you don’t put your purls back on the needle backwards. I’m a novice so this wasn’t even something I’d think to do on my own- I didn’t even know they had a backwards vs proper way of being on the needle till now. Even though you didn’t describe how to make sure your purl isn’t on backwards, I investigated on my work and figured it out. So THANK YOU SO MUCH for mentioning it. Now the pressure of not messing up a single stitch when I’m doing brioche is gone!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!

Brioche is pretty advanced stuff! To help answer your question, I might need a bit more information. One thing that might be helpful right off, and it's something I recommend to my students at any skill level: It's always helpful to take the time to practice with some bigger yarn before tackling a full brioche project.

That's a great tutorial! Can I ask a similar tutorial for fisherman rib? I have a 15 inches work which I stopped because it got messed up in last couple of rows. I've been looking for a decent tutorial for fixing this pattern but haven't found one anything. Can you please assist me?

This piece has six stitches. My piece has about 300, so this is not helpful. It would be better to show how to pick up a stitch along the knit ridge.
