I can’t thank you enough for this video!!! Thank you for pointing out the common mistake (when fixing a mistake!) of only going under one background strand. That’s what I was doing and i was ready to give up. But watching this clicked for me and now I’m working on repairing instead of nightmarishly frogging. I’ve dropped two stitches but now that I’ve seen this video and understand the construction, I think I’ll be able to do it. Thank you!!

Life saver. I was worried that this wouldn't help me as I'm knitting not only in one colour but also in brushed alpaca silk held double, but your explanation and demo were so clear I've managed to fix a mistake I made 30 rows back and was trying to convince myself was just a tension issue. Hours of work and the horror of frogging brushed alpaca saved. Thank you so much!

Nice video! I had to tink back 20 separate rows to "fix" little glitches in my brioche hat. Now, it looks marvelous. I used a small knitting needle to pull the stitch up from behind the other, and did not stretch them. Then, when it was time to crochet the ladder, each was sticking up just perfectly. Despite that I was using dark navy yarn in a one-color brioche pattern, it was quite easy so long as I was careful to cause very little disturbance. Done and DONE

Thank you so much for making this easy to understand! I somehow ended up with a row where it seemed like I was purling my main color where I was supposed to be knitting (I don't quite know what I did as I was mindlessly brioching while watching TV)- it seems like the common way to fix really any mistake in brioche knitting is to rip back that stitch and to pick up two at a time like you had demonstrated. I have another mistake from early on in my project where the contrasting color crosses in front of a main knit column but it's from the very beginning and I'm feeling less inclined to rip that whole column out. However, if I do end up fixing it, I'll know what to do! It almost seems so easy to fix brioche knitting that I can't believe how panicked I was at first!

@KingfisherKnits7 жыл бұрын
Thank you - I'm so glad it was helpful for you. I will freely admit that fixing edge stitches is something I hate, and I do not think I have ever attempted (or needed) to do it when working brioche. I think that would be very hard to save... It does intrigue me though - I will study the matter and if I think I can produce a useful video I will do so :-) (There is the issue that different patterns will use different types of selvedge stitches, for two colour brioche I use an edge stitch in st st in the main colour, while some patterns will have the edge stitches also in brioche)

Thank you so much for this! If you have any tips for the "nightmare" of fixing adjacent columns, I would be SO grateful to hear them. I'm in a thicket of crossed strands . . .
@KingfisherKnits6 жыл бұрын
Eek - I’ve only ever fixed 2-3 adjacent columns and I remember the result wasn’t completely perfect. My tip would be to start from a dropped column next to an intact one and always work from the side where you are repairing a “knit” column. Eg. You’ve dropped 3 columns which from one side would be knit-purl-Knit columns. Try to fix the first knit column, then flip the work to fix the middle column (what was the purl column viewed from the other side). Then flip again to fix the final knit column. I think that’s the best I can offer - sorry! Hope it helps.
@emilyhall38336 жыл бұрын
@@KingfisherKnits thank you so much for responding! In fact what I did was watch your excellent video a second time and then go back and do what you describe: repaired the first column next to a stable column, and then repaired the second (on the other side of the second column was an increase row--very messy). I understand how things work SO much better now--thank you thank you.

This video is really good in conception but I find it hard to follow on the "just let them stay" mistakes with this variagated yarn. If you do another, please use solid color and high contrast yarns. And go more into detail of those in-between mistakes. I am comfortable just leaving them (if not too many) but is there a way to fix them--and/or to cover them up? Thank you so much for this great start.
@KingfisherKnits4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback - I do sympathise. When I needed to make this video this was the project on my needles. What I would say though is that the way to fix the "just let them stay" mistakes is the same process I show for the others. You locate the column of stitches and drop the column down (from the knit side of that column) until you are a stitch below the mistake, meaning you have removed the mistake, and then you work back up the column making the stitches as I showed. I have so hoped to have time to make more tutorials, as I really like doing it. But life just hasn't given me the time in a while. Hopefully I will manage soon. x
@elizabethsulzby40474 жыл бұрын
You have a really good and thoughtful manner. I just FROGGED a 2 color start because the contrast was wrong. Reversed the two yarns and it works just right. And I know about time to video and edit. I wish more of the videos people make on 2 color brioche would have transcripts as well. Not this one. This one is fine with just the video and your explanations. @@KingfisherKnits

Thanks. It really is! It’s from Tres Liz. Her merino dk base (Hera I think she calls it). The colours are Charlotte (multi) and Celine (dark blue) as far as my memory serves. Here I was actually knitting on a pattern I designed in collaboration with her. Called Midnight Sherbet / so you can click on the link to my Ravelry designs under the video to find that and the yarn details are all there 😊.

Great explanation, easy to follow except for one minor criticism. The foreground color might of been a better choice in a light solid. But thank you for the instruction of the construction. You show the mistakes and then demonstrate how to drop down a stitch where there is no mistakes. This seems an odd thing to do !!! The error I would like to see fixed, is where a column of V stitches move over to the next column.
