How to Fix Circle, X, Square, or Triangle Button on a DualSense PS5 Controller | Repair Stuck

A tutorial on how to repair the four round buttons on the Sony DualSense controller : Circle, X, Square, or Triangle. I am using a model BDM-010, but most of the things I show you show apply to all versions. Buttons can be stuck down, not responding, sticky, or mushy. In the later half of the video, I show how to tear it down and get to the innerworkings, like the rubber conductive pads and the conductive film.

I don’t ever comment on videos, but my circle button on my galaxy purple ps5 controller stopped working, I took the controller apart (even though it was intimidating and I’d never messed with electronics like that before), all my buttons looked fine but I still cleaned and brushed them, put everything back together and boom, everything was working fine again. Great video. I had my X and Square buttons and PS home buttons stop working after a drop off the couch. Everything seemed fine but cleaned the sensors and the gel pads with isopropyl alcohol and it worked as if nothing was wrong. Thank you! Saved me nearly $80 for a new one.

Ty so much! My x button stopped working out of no where and all the steps before 6 didn’t work. Once I opened it up I saw that the plastic part was almost completely ripped where the x was. I just used the part from my old ps4 controller as replacement and it worked! I was so nervous taking it apart but took my time. Appreciate your video with instructions !

Using the vacuum cleaner worked immediately. I was extremely surprised because I thought I was going to have to take it apart. oddly enough I've had a PS4 controller for much much longer and never had this issue. I've had the PS4 controller for maybe 5 months

Great video my controller had fell when I was playing madden I picked it up n tried throwing a dot to triangle and it didn’t work opened the controller up n found out the rubber was ripped and the socket of the triangle button was dirty I cleaned it and replace the rubber part with a another one and it works now

Are the smaller ribbon cables on what would be the 3 and 9 o clock positions all thats responsible for the face buttons? I just took my controller apart again and now the D-Pad and Circle/Square etc buttons aren't working. I DID accidentally rip the mic cable though, I'm curious if that inhibits the whole controller though, everything else is intact. Amazing the last time I took it apart and soldered ports for triggers didn't brake it, but me not disconnecting anything and changing the stick out breaks everything but the sticks lol

Hey so I figured out one of the other things that causes a dead set of action buttons... On the rear of the PCB (behind the FPC contact pins) there are smallllllll resistors (not capacitors?) in circuit with each via. They can be dead, loose, or fallen/ripped off. I'm missing the one on my model DS5 that handles the triangleband circle inputs. It looks like it just never got soldered firmly to the board and I bet they fall off/disconnect when people drop their controllers and suddenly no cleaning etc foxes them. I need to source a suitable replacement so I can test the repair :) can you help me figure out the values of those? They're near the gold text close to the battery connector. Check them out 👍

I suggest the first u should do is the needle one it’s really easy takes less than 10 seconds and is probably the most effective solution

Really good tips got the buttons unstuck on my red controller good as new , but on the other controller where my triangle button wouldn't read at all not stuck or anything never dropped it and I had hope for it until I had to get the board disconnected. I used my hands as reccomended , and I tore the wire in half lol I completely stopped. Lmao its all good tho just going to get another one , and in the future ill just let the pros at a repair shop handle it 😂😂😂
