Brother, my Dell laptop developed the same problem you described here. I took it to the experts at a couple of computer chain stores and not only were they unable to fix, I was told that my data was lost and it would require additional expertise and money to recover. I went home and on a last ditch effort came across this video. And after following step by step your clear instructions, I was able to access the computer files, saved them on an external hard drive and now I am watching your other videos to see if I can fix what’s causing the problem. Thank you so much, had been trying for months to fix my dell laptop stuck on dell logo for 15-20 min. each time I turned it on. Diagnostic found no problems. Did the F2 when restarting laptop. The time was correct. Went to boot sequence, my hardrive was in second place, put it in first place. Laptop has been booting within seconds now. So so happy.

Duuuuuuudee!! Just got a refurbished Dell 7050. Long story short: I messed in the bios whilst getting Batocera to run off an external hard drive and got this screen. Reset bios to what it was and all's good! Thanks!! Other videos and online sources were like "windows key and C," or "hold F8"... this did the trick. 🙌👏

Thanks for your quick response! I kept poking around after I posted my question and discovered the surprisingly mundane problem and fix. I tried starting with all periphials unplugged (I hadn't done that before) and it started! To cut to the chase, the problem was a stuck Control key on my keyboard. Pried it up with a knife to unstick it and all was fine.

If you get this, you need to go back to the bios and reset the settings (for example, if you were using legacy and you tried out UEFI, go back to legacy or whatever options were originally set on your pc). The boot loop error then is more than likely an OS error and you need to factory reinstall windows.

That means the hard drive is either bad or loose. I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive. That is where you unplug it and then plug it back in, making sure its properly plugged in and secure. Try the scan again. If it still says that its not installed, then its most likely bad and needs to be replaced. You can see how to do that here; kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYvdiKaQbbB-fLM. Thanks so much for this video! It helped me get Windows to come up, but I had to do both 'levels' of the Preboot System Assessment--the first one that took only a few mins (and no errors were found) but when I exited that one it still would not get out of the loop; so then I did it again, but this time also did the second, longer assessment (almost an hour-and it didnt find any errors either) and when I click on Exit to get out of the assessment then I can get the pc to get into Windows and seems to be good. Only problem is that if I close down the pc, then the loop comes back....and the only way to get Windows again is to do the assessment (~1hr) to get it to load Windows so I can even use the pc....outside of leaving it on all the time of course. I've looked at several of your other videos but not finding any other clues as to what I can do to get it to boot up normally. Thanks so much in advance for any help!!

If you cant find those options or cant change between them, move on and continue with the rest of the video. What was the result of the Dell diagnostic scan?

If changing the setting sin BIOS didn't identify the issue and your Hard Drive passed the test, then the issue is most likely Operating System related. Can you find any Repair or Recovery options in BIOS? If that did not help, I would next try to reinstall the operating system. I can't switch from uefi to legacy so I did your steps. But in order to enable legacy option rom I had to disable ptt. But after enabling legacy option rom I still cant switch to legacy boot sequence

I forgot to mention that I also enabled the option next to legacy boot sequence where it boots legacy if uefi doesn't work. When I pressed apply the laptop just boots. Can't even open go to the os settings or anything

Yes, you can try that although it sounds like it may not be the issue. Did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc? Can you find any options to Repair or Recover the operating system? Can you find any 'Undo Last Update' options?

Weird... Assuming the drive is good, you can try installing the OS again as its most likely the issue if the HDD is good. If that fails, the perhaps your HDD is bad after all and needs to be replaced

One interesting observation is the UK and US date formats are not the same, I'd not used my Dell for months, so turning on I noticed the date had flipped to the US date (02/07/2023) so I swapped to the UK format (07/02/2023) it did still loop a few times, but the best thing is shut it down and leave it for a an hour or so, then turn it back on. Mine recovered 😃 Thanks

When it boots up I get No Internet connection for at least a minute. Nothing is too bad about that but I can no longer restart my computer for a update. ASIDE from that, Perfectly fine !

1. Just to make sure, when you try the different function keys, you have to turn the computer off first. Then turn it on, try one key. If that does not work, turn the computer off. @@PC_Monkey yes I restart and try one key each time. No spill etc. Only one thing, I used easus partition manager to move resize and delete some partitions, then it asked me to restart. I clicked ok and thats it. Since then it stuck

PC Monkey, Not sure if you are seeing me under reply comments so please let me start new. The following is my initial post from 3 days ago: Loved this video and was hopeful it would help my situation but I need more help. I have a 13 year old Dell PC and problem started after Norton alerted there was an issue that needed to be fixed. I clicked on fix and then clicked on Norton restart that was required. I have done this before without ending up in a loop. Now I have "preparing automatic repair" loop. 1. Ran diagnostics and everything checked out ok. 2. Switched from Legacy to UEFI in BIOS and it did not help. Made sure boot order was as you described. 3. Couldnt find "down below" where it shows how to do a factory reset or what this would mean to stored files, etc. 4. I watched the video on restoring OS but my computer has different options than the one in the video so I was lost. You responded with the question: Can you find any Repair or Recovery options in BIOS? My answer was no. Nothing else happened to the PC just before this loop except the alert from Norton. Please let me know where to go from here. Thank you.

@@y2jelly Assuming the old hard drive is bad, you most likely cant recovery anything from it :( Depending on how bad it is, you can try hooking it up to a working computer and accessing the DATA that way

I have an XPS 15 L521X and it only goes to the Dell logo with a blue progress line below that, which progresses all the way quickly, and "F2 Setup" and "F12 Boot Options" in the bottom right. When I hit either F2 or F12 that selection turns white and the laptop does nothing else. I have a boot USB and a BIOS USB and I've opened it up, disconnected both batteries and hit the power button for 30 seconds. Neither USB does anything when it's inserted and started. Any other ideas for this issue?
