I turned off my ps4 during an update, intending to reset my router/modem so they could reach better speeds for the update. Now when I turn on my ps4, a signal is active, but my screen is just black. I cant use any of your advice because of the black screen. I am able to boot in safe mode, but that is all. The restart option leads to the same black screen. When I select the 'change resolution' option, I get the same black scream. When I choose the 'update system software' option, the download completes, says system software will be updated and that the ps4 will restart and start the update. It does its thing and restarts, playstation logo appears and theeeeeen I get the error code SU-

Start to update the system software and then delete it in notifications as soon as you start to download the update, then restart the system software update and let it do its thing. I have no clue why this worked for me, but I hope it helps you.

Had the same problem a minute ago. Receiving an update error could also mean that your Software is corrupted and couldn't install the new update. Having a corrupted software is pretty normal if your console isn't turned off correctly. That could happen from unplugging your console, during a blackout, to a stormy weather. Basically anything that makes your console turn off incorrectly causes your precious console to corrupt. This could affect your gameplay and streaming some movies. Just like any corrupted files, the update software is no different. Just turn your PS4 completely off by holding down the power button till you hear the final beep. Turn it back on and do the same thing, this time, hover down to where you see [REBUILD DATABASE] and hit enter. This shouldn't take long, depending how badly corrupted PS4 is. After going through the process of restoring your corrupted database, go to update software options, and choose whatever methods you use to update your software. For me, I usually update over the internet. Once your ps4 is finished updating its software, you can now get back to enjoying your games. Enjoy!

OMG I’ve had issues with my ps4 before but this is the FIRST time I’ve watched a KZbin video and was able to fix the problem after. Well, I guess it’s not fixed yet, but at least it has continued downloading and from how much time is left on the download compared to how much time was left prior to the error occurring, it seems like its continuing right where it left off.
