Word of warning, if you buy a TV that automatically turns off all connected power sources, make sure the auto off setting is fucking turned off. For those who are still having issues and can’t be bothered trying any more. You can always choose “Initialise Ps4” to reset your ps4 meaning that your ps4 will reset as if you had just brought a brand new one. (You will lose all data like video clips, screenshots and will have to re-download apps, so just to be sure. Only use this if other solutions are not working!)

Yes... You need to connect the thumbdrive to the PS4. If that doesn't work, you probably haven't downloaded the file on USB, or you downloaded the wrong one.

I just went to update system software...then to update using internet...and it saved me the trouble of even having to use a flash drive.

If yours did not work make sure you downloaded the reinstallation update and not the normal update
