Someone read Atlas Shrugged too many times. “If they would just get out of the way we could innovate”. Just ask the people who live near a fracking site and can light their well water on fire how that works out. And that’s even with his “wet blanket” of regulation.

I work at mid level job at a bank. The only reason I do my job for the money. The only reason anyone I know who does there job around me is for the money. This isn’t a passion project or my own business. This is a job. If the next guy offers my 5% more I’m taking that job. That’s reality. Vivek hasn’t worked as an employee enough to understand that.
@SirrajjАй бұрын
I recently saw video explaining how wealthy areas are directing huge funds to their schools & most of poor area schools are in bad conditions because of lack of funds, so there's still a mission for DOE, it's not efficient enough we should work towards making these institutions more efficient instead of completely abandoning them leaving poor unprivileged citizens to fend for themselves
@malcolm777bАй бұрын
I worked for the federal government, DOD employee. The mission statement of the division I worked in was ALWAYS crystal clear. My suspicion is Vivek has a picture in his head that is not in line with reality.

We need government to protect against the overrule of capitalism. If you think what is in our food now is bad just imagine after you start deregulating. If you thought the vaccine or medicines are bad, imagine how much worse they would be without any regulation.
@willieb.hardigan5780Ай бұрын
No we don’t. In this day and age individual citizens have the power of instant communication, publishing, and speech to power in the palm of our hands. Unscrupulous companies will have to self correct in order to survive. The government give them protection now through corruption.

When this government worker don't help the society you cry .
@JustinKCassidyАй бұрын
He says wiping off 75% of federal workforce will lead to economic boom. Perhaps in long term. But short term you’ve just laid off over 1.5% of the federal workforce. You’re looking at an increase in unemployment spending followed by wage decreases as a result of increased labor supply. That stuff sounds cute on a podcast, but is half baked at best
@ShounenNАй бұрын
Argentina is the literal proof of concept for this exact thing and showing the exact opposite effect of what you are saying.. When you talk about wiping 75%, it is not an important part..it is the part of the government that serves no actual purpose but to spend money for nothing, achieving nothing..unnecessary waste

They’ll be paying out severance on employees for about a year following that. Presumably it would be staggered. Now that would be a disaster but when the labor market gets itself together again it’ll be fine.

Another politician arguing for further disarming & hollowing of govt for the good of "business" whose business? Definitely not yours cause you're just a employee who doesn't work for money but just to do more for the company & retire but oh wait you'll not get social security cause that's just too much bloat for govt

Why does libertarianism sound just as pie in the sky as communism? Just as I try to imagine where communism ends up - I find it good theory to imagine where we would be if a libertarian mindset ruled until now… Also, and maybe a better rounded way of analysing; is that they are almost exclusively deconstructionist - offering solutions to problems that would never be so expansive had the old capitalist system never existed. Imagine an alternate reality, where: No capitalism = Communism would likely not have made a diary entry. Something far worse would be the normative system? No classic liberalism = Libertarianism would have withered under individualist hubris. And most likely resort to plugging gaping holes with a similar kind of tyranny that communists adopted? Mixed governance keeps the common good of all men in the public conscience? And the net benefit is foundational flourishing floats to the top. No matter the broken state of the system, it can always have new rules to break the calcification. Do away with all the rules, that made things so big they need fixing, is just trouble 101..?

Most of America's problems can be traced back to unending corporate greed politicians are lobbied by them & cause of that institutions like department of H or FTC (who by the way doesn't need to raise ton of corporate money for election funding to get hired & are selected on their merit) don't have enough power to do their job effectively
@karin4942Ай бұрын
The congress is the problem. Majority of the people who work at the bottom of the government are regular people like all of us. The problem is we are dealing with a small number of crooked people at the top. Getting rid the entire government and only leave the crooked at the top is a bad solution.

It amazes me how anyone can think that the US is the greatest country on earth. I have traveled all over the globe, and by far, the US had to be the worst western country I have ever experienced. LA and New York were absolute filth holes. Disgustingly dirty and there isn't homelessness like that anywhere else in a developed country.... The vast majority of people I met were incredibly ignorant to anything else that wasn't in their own bubble, and so incredibly stupid compared to other nations. I have never felt more unsafe anywhere else in the world. I can only assume that the people who think that the US is the greatest country in the world are the 0.5% who have made a lot of money, and don't live like the vast majority of society.... And those that are too ignorant that they don't know any better. The greatest nation in the world, shouldn't be the most hated nation in the world. It hold power due to manipulating global trade transactions and owes half the global debt yet spends more than all countries combined on military. In a non fraudulent system, the US would have gone bankrupt decades ago, and hundred dollar bills should be as valuable as toilet paper. The rest of the world is trying to become the greatest world in history, and it's a big stupid bully that is holding it back.
