I have been in the US for a long time(still on h1b) and have gone through the pains of the system. I had gotten laid off right before my child was born and went into panic mode.my wife had to stop working because her h4 ead expired . Never ending visa stampings and travel pains continue to exist

This interview is extremely useful for young kids who want to do MS in US ,by taking massive educational loan.Thanks a lot

Great video I feel like nobody knows any of this unless you’re from India. Americans are usually shocked when they hear about the nuances involved in travel.

EB1-C has also been abused fairly enough in the last few years which has affected people in EB1 A and B.

one small correction here during the discussion H4 EAD people can work only if their dependent I-140 is approved. Spouse can work and start a company. During Trump Presidency H4 EAD work authorization was revoked but Supreme courst ruled out and passed a judgement that H4D EAD is valid. Thanks for Aarthi and Sriram doing this advocacy, Most of the people don't even want GC but having ability to travel and start companies. If USCIS or the current administration could significantly impact the startup ecosystem, particularly in AI and STEM fields, by granting EAD work authorization to approved I-140 petitions. This reform would be a game-changer, fostering a more vibrant environment for innovation and economic growth.

Maybe call Rep Raja Krishnamoorthi if Illinois? He does care about GC wait times and trying to do something for Indians.

The kids coming in now are coming with more of a mindset to return in 3-4 years to their parents. so , yes existing folks may not relocate so easily to india but the folks entering the pool now may not stick around as well as they have 1 eye open back in india and dont want to miss out on opportunities emerging there by dropping too deep an anchor in america. also as much as you say folks who decided to move back feel compelled to say that life is so good in india , etc ...i think it is equally hard for those indians settled and entrenched in usa to accept and reconcile to the quality of life and opportunities in the usa steadily declining and the opportunities in india , steadily improving directionally - as for good or for bad, they are now stuck here for ever.

Partly things are the way they are because despite the growth in india and the painful visa process here, people still overwhelmingly at least want to come and study here. And once they come, everyone wants to take their shot at this russian roulette. So i see zero chance of this getting resolved The us will only act when they see the traffic in reducing and the traffic out rise alarmingly

H1B is ridiculous and highly employer sponsorship dependent. Worst is the timelines that you can only apply in 1 week period when the joining date can be anytime during the year.

You're allowed to have passive sources of income, it isn't any source of income.

They first have to fix the illegal immigration problem. Legal immigration is probably last on the list of tasks for congress and senate
@jaani_882707 ай бұрын
One of the issues that this discussion doesn't address in depth is the fact that, in a US context, fixing legal immigration necessitates fixing illegal immigration. The Mexican border crisis was a tremendously galvanizing talking point for Trump (he wanted to build the wall) and it remains a huge issue faced by Biden as well (who is also trying to build the wall). There is a lot of political energy behind illegal immigration as it is perceived to affect the common American a lot more through affecting wages, drug smuggling, etc. This means that if any change in immigration policy happens, it will begin by tackling the illegal immigration issue precisely because illegal immigration is what gets politicians and Americans extremely riled up. If illegal immigration is dealt with, then more resources will free up to make the legal immigration process smoother and faster. More importantly, if illegal immigration is fixed, then the political discourse around legal immigration can finally begin to take prominence and it becomes possible to build a newer, better immigration system. If Silicon Valley is serious about letting in more founders and high skilled people, they need to find a lasting solution to the illegal migrant crisis and they need to use their considerable political force to pass and enforce the necessary policy changes. Whether they like it or not, the high-skilled founders' and techies' fate is inextricably tied with the fate of the destitute people in the Southern border and throughout the United States. Separating the two issues will not lead to any solution.

After justin trudeau Canada is USA tier 3 not 2. That is only downside no upside. After all this you have to listen to Justin's grandstanding on every issue. This is too much even for most immigrants.

Deedy: given the intersect that backs you, you would be great to partner with for AI ventures that lift the game in Asia that for mindset reasons are best launched in the US. Eg: using AI to, in corridors, reverse the fall of #SpiceTradeAsia since its heydays oof 1450. By the next 5-10 years. You have the immigration, venture and polymathic exposure to do so.

Country cap is definitely controversial to remove because it favors “a few countries”. Plus as an immigrant country - all nationalities have contributed to growth of USA and not just Indians or Chinese. Also if you remove that USA will not be able to attract other talents like Elon musk, Tope Awotona, Mira Murati etc… the list is endless… I agree h-1b is ridiculous but we need a better system that can help in finding talent!!!
@venkatnarahari7 ай бұрын
I think h1b should still continue to exist as it is. Rather the US needs to introduce a new visa for extremely skilled workers which also provides faster GC status.
