This is a long problem, please bear with me. I recently installed an SSD on my Lenovo IdeaPad 330. So, I was trying to install Windows 10 on the SSD and in the windows setup where we have to select the drive partition it says "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu." To resolve this, I watched many videos where they give the solution of setting the SATA disk configuration to AHCI from IDE from the BIOS menu. But, the BIOS menu on my laptop doesn't have that option. I have been trying to find the solution for more than a week now but no luck. Please suggest something.

I updated the bios on my new Ideapad 5, then Windows can't see the SSD. The latest bios version does not show the ability to switch between UEFI and Legacy mode. You did not mention one important thing. That is Intel the VMD controller. In some cases that might be the problem, such as Lenovo Intel 11 gen laptops for example (it may happen with some other Intel generations). So what happens, the NVMe SSD will not bi visible for the operating system, after the initial setup, where you choose where to install the operating system to. The solution, you need to disable the Intel VMD controller and switch it to an AHCI mode, only then you will be able to continue with the installation.

One small issue I have with this video: The title seems to include the scenario where it (BIOS) says "Hard Disk [Not Detected]", yet from what I've seen in this video and the steps given, it assumes the computer _can_ see the hard drive. The problem my computer has is that the BIOS can not detect the internal hard drive (it shows up in the 'information' tab as "Hard Disk [Not Detected]). And while this is most likely a different issue then the one this video seems to solve, It does not help that every search result for the issue I have leads here- which does not help. I hope this comment gets replies for how to solve my particular issue, and helps anyone else who keeps getting lead to this video.
@PC_Monkey6 ай бұрын
An error of 'HDD Not Found' would be BIOS. So your issue is the one discussed here. Have you tried the steps seen here? Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?
@theletsplayer95036 ай бұрын
@@PC_Monkey I did try the steps here. Running it in either (Legacy/UEFI), it wouldn't boot (because it couldn't find the drive). Me and my dad did manage to get some life when we used an external drive to boot it up (so it wasnt the BIOS itself, I don't think), but we still couldn't get it to read the internal drive. Our theory is that the SSD card itself has gone bad. As for what happened: I usually take care of my computers, so there wasn't any liquid spills. It could have had a windows update while I slept, but I don't know. All I can say for sure happened was that I was using it for a game when the entire system froze up and BSOD. After, when it tried rebooting, it just wouldn't load. After entering BIOS, I noticed that the area that would normally list a drive said "Hard Disk [Not Detected)". EDIT: If it helps, the computer model is the Legion Y540 17IRH

Could that be incompatibility with WD brand or an issue detecting SSDs? Notice they make no guarantees of compatibility

In case this solution still doesn’t fix your 2100 error, how about giving a try to remove the hard drive and the SATA connector and then replug them again, as 2100 error says hard drive cannot be detected so the issue could be due to loose connection of hard drive. This finally resolved my own 2100 error.

Hi there, Unfortunately my problem did not solved. :( I have Lenovo Y7000 with Win10. I have warranty so I sent it back to Lenovo service and theoretically they changed the motherboard. My laptop has a different bios (it’s Lenovo ideapad gaming i3) and i recently installed a new ssd that now has windows 10 and i can boot with but only with a another usb ssd and sometimes i can unplug and it works but the main thing is that the ssd has the os and not being detected as boot manager or nothing i have it installed it detects when in windows but in bios is not recognized as a boot device and I’m stressing because of that and can’t go to legacy BC i can’t change it only óptimos being 1-usb boot and 2- start ip pxe4 then down that is boot manager here it shows my usb device and that’s it😢

Hey. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad which is stuck in the boot menu. I had this issue several times but what I used to do is just disconnect the internal battery from it and then turn it off and it was working. However, now I cannot do anything. Also, I took it to a local computer repair place and the guys checked the ssd, said there is no problem with it and the computer is turning on now. Two days after I took my laptop from them the same thing happens again. I checked everything in the video and it seems like everything is ok. Any advices?

Im having issues getting my battery to charge. Ive tried unplugging the battery running off ac redownloading the drivers and ruplugging it in. Ive tried to download bios updates which it needs but because the battery is running off ac it wont let me download and run them. It does boot in legacy but it doesnt in Uefi. Is that because of the lack of updates? Would it run better in Uefi mode? I have a long list for boot order. Is there an optimized order for things?

Ok, my laptop won't boot beyond Lenovo logo not even bios will open When turn on the computer the fan spin for a second and Lenovo logo appears and stays there for eternity but the fan stops completely. I have found the problem to be the 1tb hdd when removed from the sata port, i can safely boot into bios as usual and Lenovo logo shows only for a second as it should be. Is there any fix for this, iam afraid that the hard disk corrupted and data is lost. Which is devastating for me.

If it will only boot without the drive, then yes, the drive is most likely bad and needs to be replaced. Just to be sure, you can hook it up to another computer via an external HDD link to see if the DATA can be taken off it.
