The DC04 was released around 1998, according to Wikipedia. Great to hear that yours is still going - they are well-made machines!

Hi, If the motor, belt, brushroll and hoses are fine then you'll have to completely strip it down as a blockage must be causing the issues. A check of the upright lock may help as that triggers the switch from hose to head cleaning. Busy weekend ahead! Thanks.

Thank you very much for your help. It seems the upright lock was sticking, so put a bit of WD40 on there and it's helped. I've also replaced the post motor filter as it was quite black. Really appreciate the help and the informative video.

My Dyson is still very powerful when sucking up with the hose, but when used as an upright vacuum, it's not picking up. The brush is rotating perfectly and I've done all you recommended here without sucess. Any suggestions? Thanks.

the DC01 absolute and Destijl has HEPA filters and Dc04's with clutches have HEPA filters :)

@Zeamus634 Hello. That depends on what model of Dyson your animal version is. For example, you may have a DC07 Animal or a DC14 Animal (there is no DC04 Animal). You can find the model information on the data plate, usually found underneath the vacuum. Let us know which model you have and we'll try to help you further.

Very good video / voiceover, unfortunately the Dyson 04 vacuum cleaner I have is entirely different from this one! Mine is red and purple and doesn't have a filter in the top end of the machine, but I found one near the motor. Could it be a special edition?

hepa filtration (High-efficiency particulate air) it is designed to cappture more dust ,bacteria,mould spore ( its also as a bactiguard screen aplied to it it does the same thing the following vacuums that have the hepa filter are dc01 absolute dc01 de stijl dc02 absolute dc02 de stijl dc03 absolute dc04 absolute plus dc04 absolute plus lime and purple dyson dc04 de stijl dyson dc14 allergy and the rest non absolutre machine have a filter pad under the bin

IF YOU HAVE A DOG WITH ALOT OF HAIR....., YOU NEED TO CHECK THE ROLLER AND CUT THE HAIR OFF IT.......... The only problem I ever had with mine....

Hi Gabriel's Not Dead, we agree if you have a dog with a lot of hair it will cause your vacuum to block up quicker, but make sure it is checked regularly.
