Dude, next round on me! You saved my day! I was ready to buy a new wireless mouse until I saw your video. I put the transceiver in my regular oven at 450 F for 5 min. Connected to my laptop and it worked!. The tricky part was to reassemble the transceiver, so I recommend taking pictures so you remember how to reassemble it

My laptop fell with the dongle in it. The dongle side hit the ground. after that I had to put downward pressure on the dongle to make it work. I tried 400 degrees F (full size oven) for about 8 minutes. Seems to be working just fine now. Thanks for the tip. Way better than trying to solder those tiny pieces!

Oh wow! I can't thank you enough. In my 3rd attempt I was able to make it work. I dropped my laptop while the receiver was plugged in and it stopped working. I used the big convection oven, 400 F for 11 minutes.

Thanks a lot for making this. I managed to revive what I thought was an entirely dead keyboard and receiver. The black plastic casing did not come off as easy for me as in the video, but I was able to gently pry it off. Baked on 200 C for 5 mins.

Thanks JJ for this video. The only issue I had was that I don't have a toaster oven and you need a higher temperature for a regular oven. After several test runs, I ended up having to set my oven to 450 degrees fahrenheit for 5 minutes.

WOW!! I am so happy I saw your video. At first I was skeptical... but I tried it and it worked! I damaged my USB receiver and both the keyboard and mouse did not connect to my laptop. I let it in the oven for 180, 230, 250 for 5 minutes each. It didn't work at all. Eventually got bored and let it sit 15 minutes and after I came back it was burned to crisp. So listen to the guy and watch it while baking.

I FIXED MY KEYBOARD USING ANOTHER METHOD. The matching numberpad was in a box with one of the keys held down by a book. Fixing this also fixed the keyboard, as the numberpad was not continuously transmitting rogue characters. Also, check the keyboard batteries, sometimes replacing a flat battery can fix the issue. Once I tried three sets before I found one that worked. My apologies for caps, but I figured it this might save someone a lot of grief as it took me an hour to figure this out.

I bought my Scuplt keyboard/mouse combo in a secondhand store. Soon after I took it home to try it, it started having connectivity problems. I read online, and found the problem to be quite common. Someone suggested moving the dongle close to the keyboard, so I put it on the end of a USB extension cord, and put it right on the desk by the keyboard. This has worked very well for a few months. Occasionally I have to unplug it and plug it in again. But just the other night it started failing. Now I'm getting a few minutes of use, and then I have to unplug/plug again. I'm tempted to try your method. It sure would be nice to know exactly which component is the culprit, as I have a heat station, and could aim the hot air exactly at the trouble spot. I also have an electric hotplate (for phone/tablet repair). I might be tempted to try that.

My portable monitor fell on dongle while plugged in and bent/cracked the casing. I've gone through 4 rounds of 5 minutes at 300, and 5 minutes at 400 in air fryer on bake setting. Do I need to go longer per bake session? I'm so afraid to burn it! Or is it just broken beyond repair?

Another way is to use a clothes iron and let it heat fully. place dongle on the irons hot plate with the components facing up. should take aprox 30 to 60 seconds. In the industry it's called reflowing the solder and this way you can visibly see the solder start to shine and liquify. Remember to never touch the piece with you bare hands. Use tweezers to remove and place on a plate to let it cool down.

Hello! I baked the chip for 3 mins at 180C which didn't work, so tried it again at 200C for 7 mins and my laptop recognised something was plugged in but I got a warning saying there's a power surge in the USB port so I removed it. Anyone have any ideas?

Doesn’t seems to work for mine … mine was Microsoft wireless 900 desktop … the transreceiver was a little bent … and I couldn’t get the chip out of the case/holder … tried using various methods and doesn’t seem to work … is there any way that something can be done to replace the old transreceiver or make it work ?

You can't get another usb receiver for the Microsoft keyboards/mice. Apparently they are "individually matched." Only Logitech has a "unifying receiver" that you can pair with any device. Really though, it wouldn't be hard for Microsoft to come up with a pairing software, but they choose not to do it (probably more money to be made by selling more keyboards/mice, when the dongle breaks or gets lost).

you could use an oven. some people bake their mother board in the oven. just make sure you open the oven door after you finish the process for about 30 mins and use a fan to remove all the toxic fumes. also have your home windows (real windows not the ones in the computer :) open at the time.

This is an excellent presentation, and really I would like to know how you knew to bake the board. You must have worked in the ic industry, or have a drinking buddy who does. This video should receive wide distribution based on valuable content. @@matan_shimon if your black plastic part is still intact u can reassemble it. Otherwise if u can't then yes u can duck tape the black plastic to the module (green & gold part) but make sure you don't cover the 4 metal lines that connect to the computer. Good luck

Sorry to hear. This fix olny works if you had a connectivity problem on the module. I would try to heat it up a little longer to see if it helps but this fix is of course not guaranteed to work for everyone
