Daniel Jackson wmm by default on nighthawk is enabled and should be left enabled. With 30mbps upload you shouldn't really need QOS unless those other devices are constantly doing a lot of uploading downloading or streaming. Otherwise you could just experiment and see if it makes any difference

@@winterlol363 it was cuz covid, literally, when we had online school, the internet providers were slow of that, so basically its fixed now, But i recommend to minimize the background apps to minimum for the lowest usage of the internet while gaming, get a Ethernet cable and make prefferences for the game (you can set prefferences to each app what from low to high)

The problem is not only for games even when I tried speed test the test becomes fine then after another try every stuff like the ping the jitter and packet loss increase. Thank you for letting me know about the Qos thing. It worked and fixed my lag that i've had issues with for months. Couldn't play leagues for 2mins without randomly jumping to 300 ping for a sec. I went to my qos this turned it on and limited it to 5 mbps and i'm staying 46ping no lag :D

Definitely going to be trying this out! With that being said, I was wondering if you can give any advice in reference to gaming on 5G wireless. When I am on my 2.4 network, my downloads caps at 120d/12up. When I am on my 5G network, caps at 250d,12up. We have multiple devices on our wifi network, and when everyone is on at the same time it ultimately decreases my speeds drastically when i am on 2.4; so I opted to using the 5G network. While my download speeds are still good, I get ridiculously high lag spikes in game (Fortnite) ping goes from 30's to 500's even though nobody else is on there(different password and access). Do you believe changing the QOS will resolve this and do you recommend I stick to the 2.4 after changing the Qos? captain spaulding it's impossible to fix ping spikes on a 4g connection. There's no way to control the bandwidth and the latency is unpredictable because its using radio cell towers not a dedicated line

I've been playing Tf2 since 2017, it used to run fine until recently. I would be mid battle with an enemy and be doing decent and then all of a sudden BAM! You can, what model is it. Also what your ISP. Wrt routers are nice to have but you have to know how to flash them and also have a good understanding of how bandwidth works. There is a lot of settings in the wrt firmware, it's not just flash and plug and play.

My PS4 story: It was all jolly and all.Yesterday,there was like no problem at all of me playing over watch.Unfortunately today,I had terrible lag spikes,it was mild at first which is i was at 25 Ms and it went up and down between 25Ms till 50-60Ms which like continued for the entire math of Overwatch.The issue is that on first glance it was giving false hope that like your internet is fine,not until like 2 mins it starts to do jack shiz.The aftermath was that it became worse,from 25ms to 800ms and then floats between 200ms and 500ms like wtheck i cant even move properly.My internet connection(upload) is mostly above 10mbps which is OK.I hope this helps though.

I mean if it happens once in a while that is not uncommon. But if it happens every day and every lobby that's an issue. I've made vids on my channel that talk about stabilizing ping

I kind of skipped through some parts, so I'm not sure if you said it but PingPlotter is also a good way to check if you have ping spikes. I'm not sure if you have heard about it, it shows real time ping. Great video! :D

When you say that you sacrifice download speed for better ping, is this setting change for the entire network or just THAT device? Like if I follow these steps i'll have better gaming, but will the other computers on the network suffer from worse download speeds now?

Hey John, When i ran the test on dlsreports.com it was giving me a very high bufferbloat during the download section of the test, i have been getting alot of lag spikes during gaming as well. Would you still recommend doing the QOS setting if there is a high buffer bloat on the download speed and not the upload speed? thank you for the video it was explained really well.

I'll I will have like 30/40 ping then randomly I will have a lag spike that lasts like 3 seconds then my ping goes to 300 for 5 seconds and its so annoying and gets me killed so much because it usually only happens when I'm in a fight.

Throwaway Account I have TP ones too. It’s really frustrating, I feel the need to just throw all my gaming stuff away because what’s the point having them if you can’t play smoothly. I’ve done ping tests on my pc straight to the router and I don’t get any ping spikes then I’ll do a ping test to google and boom load of ping spikes. I’ve seen a solution where you can use the coax cables in your house. You buy an adapter from coax to Ethernet and it can cost you up to £150 for 2 which I don’t really want to pay.

@@x98sr yeah same i wanna quit because it mostly only happens in fights and half the time its when in editing so like i edit a window and in frozen there, standing still for 3 seconds, then it goes to 300 ping for 5 seconds and by that time I'm dead.

Everytime I download something my nephew complains he's lagging on his pc... how is this possible when I have 940mbps download internet, both are wired.
