Dude just reset the controller once a week and blow compressed air to the thumb sticks holes, or just blow hard with your mouth but be careful to no ''spit'' You can reset it with a needle in the little hole in the back for 10 seconds then connect it again to the ps4 thru wire.

@@JohnGlasscock hey I need your help my dualshock 4 v2 controller doesn't work anymore because I connected it to my samsung s8 the controller is 100% genuine because it came with the ps4 slim if I use a USB to connect it it will just show a yellow light telling me that its charging I've also tried testing the controller with that secret button and going to bluetooth devices and tried there nothing works for me hopefully you can find out.

Something important to note, only bend the green part (it's called a potentiometer) open as little as possible and as few times as possible. Bending the metal that connects it to the circuit board will fatigue the metal and will break it if done too much.

I was literally about to toss my Scuf and Razor Raiju PS4 controllers because the left stick drift being so powerful. My characters would be stuck going forward and it would make it almost impossible to sprint in games that you have to click down the left stick while pushing forward. The only thing you could have done better is, have posted this video in 2014 :) Regardless... Solid work man! Looks like a first gen controller? Hi John, I wanna say thanks a bunch for the tutroiral.... I tried and was successful in just simply cleaning it.... I didn't have alcohol so I used Raw-unfiltered vinegar. I thought it's also worth mentioning that at 1:33, you didn't say to remove the brown/orange string connector that you would need to remove before you flip the motherboard. I think that's necessary, but that's what I did. I also cleaned the crevices of the controller and a few blows, just to prevent any dust and dirt build up again. Thanks alot for your video. 😁

The weakest bit in the chain is the track followed by the dust from it. Swabbing it with alcohol surely removes a layer of something which adds to its demise further down the track. Eventually you have to change the green bit and adjust it or it might still drift. This fix might give you some extra months of play as the new arm might run in a different arc and therefore new material, but it will be a minute change and short lived, but its worth a try. The two top pads on the wiper are centre reference and have little room to move anyway. Chances are you've bought the whole Pot, so you have the track at hand if the new wiper doesn't sort the problem. The position of the legs of the pot in the board holes plays a part in the centre position that is probably registered in the pad software. I'm wondering if Win10 has the tools needed for us to adjust stick centre like the xbox software can. Temporary fit the pot with toothpicks and plug it in and check centre, twisting the pot left or right will move the centre position. I'm guessing a ohm meter might also be of some help to gauge quality as this can differ wildly. Playstation has never given us the software so we can edit position, hopefully it will be open source one day.

I tried a few resetting methods when my drift made the controller become unusable. Didn’t work, so I blew in the joy sticks a few times as a last ditch attempt to prevent opening it up. It worked perfectly lol! Sometimes the simplest fixes are the best one.

This worked for me: On my left analog stick I would get problems when pointing it upwards, so when I was running forward sometimes my character would stop randomly. Very simply hold down your analog sticks lightly and do 360 rotations. In my case I would hear a noise coming from my left analog stick when the rotation was around the 1 o'clock to 2o'clock area. Now keep doing 360 rotations while holding down the analog sticks but apply a little more pressure as you go around especially in the area where you hear the noise. After doing this for about a minute all the analog stick problems I was having are gone, without having to take it apart.

Be careful when doing this... Not all controllers have the same potentiometers (you called them analog sensors) and you can actually break the potentiometer if you open it like that... In some cases the potentiometer pins (legs) can break as well. So be very cautious when doing this. For most people I would recommend just buying a replacement controller or having the potentiometers replaced by a professional.

You are right. Ive noticed that these videos give the impression that it's normal to "open" them. When doing that, it bends the pins. I got curious with old controller and open and closed to see how long until it would break. I got 5-6 times and the pot snapped off of the soldered pins.

Hardest part is opening the case on a controller that hasn't ever been open, theres a snap by each analog you can open with the small screwdriver so you dont wrench it apart.
