6/2016 I woke from a nap and saw I had a missed call and a text on my Iphone 4. I entered my passcode to unlock the screen. My screen didn't unlock. How weird, so I entered my code the 2nd time, nothing again, 3 rd time it went completely black and wouldn't do anything. Cant power it off, cant power it on. So I came to KZbin and found you!! Your very welcome. The 4 I used to make this video had a habit of locking up following an update. The 4S I had after was better. Normally a soft reset is all the phone needs. Take it as a warning though of software issues. I would recommend that you get in the habit of connecting the phone to a computer and making back ups in iTunes. Your next step if the phone will not re boot is to restore the software via iTunes and it helps a lot if the phone has a back up in place. Thanks for the feed back and best of luck fella.

I will explain my situation, its brand new iphone 6s bought a month back. I didn't dropped my iphone, neither hit or pressed the screen so hard that could effect it, I was watching a video while iphone got hang at first while screen was on and my finger touches didn't work, so I thought to restart it but it went blackout! and it got my nerves. And then I tried your suggested solution and thankfully it worked! It seems to me it is one of the glitches the iphone has and Apple couldn't figure out the solution to curb it till date. Screen getting unresponsive and then blackout has been the problem in iphones since its first device iphone 3Gs, but thanks to youtubers like you who are saving pounds and dollars of panic'ed users like me

Thanks Pritish for the info. I was hoping that by the time apple had got to the 6's this screen blanking would have been fixed but it seems not. I am currently running a 5s and that seems better than the 4 gen.

I did the two button reset probably 25 times over the last couple days. I finally decided to open the back. Remove the battery. Take off the shield. And re seat the 2 connectors. My screen is still black. I decided to do the 2 button reset on last time. IT WORKED THE SCREEN IS ALIVE. WOOHOO

I used an eyeglass kit (totally unused until now) to remove the screws. I'm going to order a real kit and get a magnifying glass. It took me forever to get the screws back in. oreathiasmith Well done ! Give yourself a good pat on the back ;-). Although the screws are tiny and easy to lose / mix up etc taking these phones apart is not as bad as people think. A proper iphone tool kit is well worth the money.

I totally fixed my blacked-out iphone 4 by following your instructions. I was so disheartened after carefully trying to readjust the connectors as a first step, as I was sure it had nothing to do with the battery connection, but in desperation I reluctantly took the extra step to disconnect the battery for a hard reset and HEY PRESTO! Try connecting to a computer via the usb an performing a itunes back up and restore. This will force the phone to restart and install new software.

THIS IS SILLY BUT IT WORKS My iPhone 6s Plus wouldn't charge and it was completely dead. I tried different a charger, different cord, plugged it into 2 different USB ports, and tried the adapter into 2 different wall sockets. Nothing worked. I know this sounds silly, but try this 1st before anything else...simply put the part of the changer cord that plugs into your iPhone into your mouth or lick it on both sides, plug it back into your iPhone. It should start charging again. Worked for me like a charm. I had a friend who told me to try this. Talk about saving money & time! Hope it works for you.

My screen went black after kids dropped it. I could call the phone and answer it, would vibrate, but no light on the screen.Tried taking the screen connectors off then reconnecting them, as I was worried to do a hard reset. When that did not work, disconnected battery and reconnected and then the screen came back to life! I would not worry about doing a hard reset again. Great video! Thanks :-)

Thank you Sir, Your advice saved me a lot of frustrations when my iPhone's screen went blank after entering wrong passcode several times. Hi, Thanks a lot for this video! It worked just as you say. Unfortunately I had to follow all the steps to the part with the 5 different screws to get to display connector. Nicest click I heard recently! Since I'm not that good at drawing as you I put the open iPhone in my copy machine and punched the five screws through the paper copy to locate the right spot. You helped me out a lot! I just love my old 4s.
