Do I have to wait for the stickiness to dry before I try clean it out

Hi Rick, I highly recommend that you avoid getting any liquids inside electronics. If your controller has experienced liquid damage, I recommend that you turn it off straight away, then wait for the controller to dry out before powering it in again. You can follow this guide to disassemble the controller, then let the components dry out before reassembling.
