Brilliant, most other videos they are disassembling the clock spring, clips etc., you made this look very easy. Thanks

That's fantastic. Had no idea it was that simple. I did not take it apart yet and was just thinking about buying an assembly until I came across this video. Definitely saved me some money thank you!!

I tried this on my own without success, but after watching your video I got the magic ingredient of winding that spool counterclockwise six times, so thank you.
@Fentertainment4 жыл бұрын
If you find that the pull you have after you complete this is too short then you could wind it 7 or 8 times. But good deal. All that matters is its working!

6:00 Thanks. i fix engine stuff, gens to mowers, etc. Got a friends' Stihl fs 40 c and the pull mechanism was seized. Took those 3 torx 20 screws out, and pop goes the spring. It unwound, so now i got a cover, an unwound spring, and a rope on a handle. Any ideas, on how to 'rewind' that flat spring ? thanks, in advance for any education, SIR. from alberta canada.

I found this very helpful when repairing my broken rip cord on my Stihl trimmer. Thanks for posting. I do have one suggestion, though: to guide the cord through the hole in the cover and through the handle, I used some masking tape to create an aglet at the end of the cord so the cord would more easily feed through the 2 holes.

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

I watched your video, great video! However, I couldn’t find a specific video for what I have a different problem trying to get my STIHL FS 56 RC started due to the rope feels no tensions until after a few pulls and then finally rope started feeling tension so that’s when I was able to start an engine. Is there a tensioner or spring part inside the rope spinner? I need to find out how to fix it. Thanks!

Well, thank you. I managed it. Aside from the show-off thing with tying the knot, very instructive. (I notice you do not show your technique!) Myself, after the fourth time I lost hold of the pulley, found a piece of wood shim and wedged it in place. The rest was, relatively, cake, and the trimmer starts.

Thank You, I used my teeth to help grab ahold to the string since my hand was tied up holding the spring in the housing. However, you got it and thats all that matters!

My FS-80 needs a new carb. I can’t locate one. After speaking with a Stihl rep, he gave me a model # of 41121200611. He said it was Teikei. However, when I looked at the carb it had this on it: OK10N, I think. This is a line trimmer or brush cutter. Also, it is model #5243025. Can you help me locate a carb or at least a diaphragm?

thanks - great video I had a little problem of fitting the cover back into the spring loaded starter base of the engine . Apparently you didn't ..😩
@flatcat473 жыл бұрын
I know whereof you speak, and it does take a little jockeying around; mostly making sure the housing is all the way tightly back in place, and tugging the string to check whether it is engaged with the sprocket.
