In this video I will show you how to replace and repair the Stuck Ignition Steering Lock on Volkswagen
When the key won't turn in the ignition or turns more heavily, it's time to change an ignition starter, because in the next period it will remain blocked and will not allow you to start the engine.
This problem is very bad as it can leave you stranded (you won't be able to start the car).

I fixed mine by disconnecting the battery - the key was released.

I finally finished doing mine but I will tell you this, that little trick with the paper clip was extremely hard. It took the paper clip and a couple little snacks of the hammer in the back for it to release correctly putting it back together was a cake. Thanks.

This is happening on my VW and idk where to buy the part and I don’t have replacement bolts or a way to drill into the existing bolt to make it easier to put it back and I also don’t have a hole punch or w/e it’s called and ugh I hate VW so much. I’d rather have a Toyota. Some day I’m sure it’ll get stuck permanently then I’ll have to do it or take it into the garage. What I wouldn’t give to know somebody who knows stuff about cars I could pay as long as I don’t have to fork out $1000 that the mechanic will probably charge. Anyone want to buy my VW? Lol

Had an issue with mine where I could not get the lock into the correct pin position. I ended up having to cut the unit in half and remove the innerds to get the lock to release.

You guys will never believe me how i fixed the problem. I just turned the whell a litle bit and the ignition unlocked. 😭 (I turned the ignition while still holding the wheel)

At 5:30 the best tool to spin those out is an automatic center punch. Press down going left and the punch will help spin it out each time it clicks.

I tried to head off the key cylinder from the beginning because this is my issue. How to release the key cylinder without able to get in ignition mode, turning the small whole to get the wire straight in? Thank you very much

I had this same issue happen while I was in a random part of my city! I have a Compustar remote starter installed in my 16 Passat Trendline (base) and I was able to start the car using the remote starter and everything was normal again after 😅
