How to Fix the Star Wars Sequels

Disney's Star Wars trilogy had plenty of issues, and while many were quick to point them out not so many have offered a solution on how to fix them. So I thought I would. In this video we look at how changing a few things can create a totally different story.

The Last Jedi could have better if the Force Ghost of Anakin Skywalker appears to Kylo Ren right after his conversation with Rey and reveals his motivation why he chose the Dark Side to save his wife Padme but paid his ultimate price which could help Kylo redeem and back to the Light while Rey will turn to the Dark Side and BOOM! The circle is complete.

I thought it would have been really cool if they had used Anakin in multiple scenes with Luke, and when Luke sacrifices himself to save the Resistance, Anakin appears behind him and asks him why. It could be used to make Luke’s choices make more sense, and it would also call back to Return of the Jedi very nicely.

I think rey turning to the dark side works really well because like you said palpatine is probbably the best manipulator in the galaxy so he could Easily turn rey to dark

Imagine if ben defeats rey by slicing her arms and legs off and isnt able to recover from it. It would be such a good parallel to anakins defeat. Also rey could accept that she is defeated and that she is wrong but doesnt get redeem in the same way as vader did. Also i think it would have been cool if she is redeem, for palpatine to kill her realising that she has betrayed him.

The problem is JJ Abrahms. Who created the situation where someone else had to explain why Luke had left everyone to search for a Jedi temple while people were dying? Rian Johnson said it well: he had to be there because he thought it was what was best. He couldn't not know what was going on, he definately couldn't have run away, it had to be because he thought it was best. Rian Johnson almost pulled off fixing the trilogy, although ROS destroyed any chance of that happening. On the Canto Byte stuff, I think that's the "sith lord Jar Jar Binks" of the sequals, ie a lot more story there than we see at the surface level. What if "selling weapons to the bad guys...and the good" was actually addressed and not treated as a throwaway line? Leia doing business with the same people who sell weapons to the first order, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren not approving weapons deals because of business with the resistance (perhaps that's the "your whole life is a lie" moment, a lot more effective than "I have been every voice you have ever heard inside your head") as he has a more powerful weapon than anything they could make (the force), I do think a fight between him and Hux was building so "weapons vs the force" could happen either way. A TON of wasted potential in that 1 line. And honestly, Johnson probably wanted to go there but Disney said no.

Sounds interesting. 😊😊 The problem is that if you make Luke such a central character, the focus remains on him. He is already a legend, and the classic movies are his story. My take was that since this is the Skywalker saga, the actual protagonist must be Ben. He had to redeem himself to close the circle to the prequels, where his grandfather damned himself. One of the sequels' mistakes was that they focussed far too much on Rey, who hardly changes at all, contrarily to him. I quite liked The Last Jedi. I would have ended the trilogy by letting Rey fall to the Dark Side and Ben redeeming himself to get her out of there. In the meantime, he could have met the Canto Bight children and rescued them. This would have undone his grandfather's curse (see the line "I will finish what you started") by saving children when Anakin had killed the Jedi younglings, and redeeming himself to save the woman he's bonded to instead of damning himself to do the same. He could have died in the end - he's still a patricide - but at least he would have died with honor. The sequel's main mistake was that they didn't explain what "balance in the Force" is. It seemed pretty simple - Prequels, the Dark Side wins, Classics, the Light Side wins, Sequels, Balance. We saw a balance mosaic in The Last Jedi; Luke and Rey were even sitting on the border at one time. But both of them never discussed what it meant. It must have meant that the Jedi of old were not hell-bent of using only the Light Side but knew how to keep balance. Rey and Ben should have been the ones who find what Balance actually means. Unfortunately, this main plotpoint was completely erased in the last chapter. The Rise of Skywalker is a prime example of what movie studios will do following the hatred coming from the viewers. The Acolyte picked up this topic of Force duality again. And again, most fans hate it. What's their problem with Balance in the Force, I wonder?

Honestly. I would prefer it that after the last duel, ben would save rey from the destruction of exogul and rey turns back to the light side. It feels much nicer to end this way

I think you sound fine I think having Palpatine there from the start is an interesting idea. I think your idea would improve some things but since you would be keeping so much of the original story intact it would still have a lot of problems

Although palpatine surviving is still weird, having Luke stay alive and defeating Palps helps keep some nice continuity as well as still give meaning for Anakins sacrifice as he saved Luke and restored balance, and then Luke ended it once and for all. I also like Luke and Ben rebuilding the Jedi order at the end as you can now bring in legends stories of Luke being Grandmaster Luke

Like this idea but to explain how palpatoots is alive I think rebels rouge one and resistance could be restructured to explain palpatine being alive like rogue one could have some stuff about accessing the netherworld of the force or something like that 🤷🏼‍♂️ just an idea also this is very good another thing I would add is Luke starting to train Finn with leia’s lightsaber or something 🤷🏼‍♂️.

The biggest fixes this trilogy needs are: Rey being a nobody (we never cared about Palpatine personal life) and Palpatine not coming back. I know TLJ is a bad movie and everybody hates it, but at least it tried to do something different.

I have been a fan since '77 after seeing "A New Hope" in the theater that year. With that being said I feel that "The Last Jedi" may be the worst movie I have ever seen and I have seen some bad ones. I have seen it once and have no desire to view it again and certainly not ever purchase it using my hard earned money for such a piece of trash. I fail to come up with even one redeeming thing about the movie. After that I really did not care to see "The Rise of Skywalker" but I relented and did and while it was not as bad as TLJ it did not miss by much.....lol

You wanna fix the sequels? Simple! Adapted the Thrawn trilogy. Even George Lucas says The Thrawn trilogy are the true sequels to his original trilogy
