Same here! Been trying out different routines and products for months. Weird thing is as a little kid my hair was just a bit wavy and then in middle school got extremely wavy and as I got older it got extremely curly. The underneath has super tight ringlet curls and the top has loose and some tighter waves and then there is the 2 front pieces that lay completely flat and straight 😭

@@daniellecolbeck1983 right?? And never knowing how it’s gonna dry every time I wash it. Some days are curlier than others even if I use the same products I normally would. And then the days where it actually dries really pretty but when I wake up the next morning it’s already ruined and frizzy 😭😭 it sucks! My parents are hair stylists tho and my dad recommended a keratin treatment for my hair which I was afraid would permanently straighten it. He said girls with curly hair get them all the time and the curls will bounce back less frizzy and smooth. So maybe that will work for you as well 🤷🏻♀️ I’ll keep you updated if I end up getting one haha

Hi Gena, I just found your channel and have been watching and learning. I am 67 with salt & pepper hair, more salt than pepper. It always had body, but after menopause, it has gotten curly (2c -3a). I'm having trouble with figuring out porosity. I think it's about medium and as I age, it's getting thinner on top. I have never colored it and until the COVID lockdown, always wore it very short (almost pixie) washed it, fluffed it and air dried or defused. I am immune compromised so I haven't had it cut since Feb. All the layers are growing out unevenly and with different curliness. So instead of fighting it with clips and haeadbands, I've decided to try and work with it since i'm not going anywhere. I got some Not Your Mother's products and as I said, have been watching various videos and getting confused. I just got some clarifying shampoo, but don't have a deep conditioner. Do I have to deep condition afterward or should I wait to clarify until I get deep conditioner? I have no idea if I need protein or not. Any help you can give would be so appreciated. Thank you!

I've been able to get the underside of my hair curly, but it ends up being wavy by the time I'm done. Definitely going to try using a different hold product on the underside. I was already using a thick leave in only on my top layer due to being so high porosity.

Thank you so much for your videos. I have been using CGM for @ two months and I’m beginning to see changes. But prior to that my hair began going through a lot of changes. They have been: 1. Finger straightened my hair as I dried it and styled it WITHOUT a flat iron MOST of my adult life. Probably 25-30 years. 2. In last 10+ years I have been taking several medications & was told unofficially that this could have brought about changes. First changes: began having curly on right side and kinky coils & VERY frizzy on right back. (I have been in bed with chronic illnesses a LOT for 12-15 years, sleep on my right side & no silk pillow case). Continued to have slight wavy left back and left side. When this started I began drying with round brush & straightening with flat iron. 3. Then right side begins to have more waves and a little curl. I live in Georgia, very hot & humid summer, so I decided to use a gel to get left side to curl more & did help so began CGM after that and it’s curling even more. My hair curl patterns are many & extremely different. My biggest struggle is getting the kinky coils from frizzing. I am managing it somewhat by always using only leave in conditioner on it. I only apply enhancers & gels to left side & left half of back and my bangs to make it look somewhat uniform but the back half is so extremely different. It looks like a different head. I haven’t been to a curly hair stylist yet. I’m near Chattanooga TN but haven’t checked resources here yet. I have worn my hair short most of my adult life but started letting it grow during COVID & it’s still only just 2” below my ears wet on side. It’s shorter in back, wedge style. It also has color with highlights. Any suggestions you have would be very much appreciated.

I still can't tell what kind of hair I have. I didn't even know I had curly hair until earlier this year. Always thought it was just frizzy and unmanageable. Finally made a comment on FB about it and my own mother tells me, oh yea, you were born with this curly mop and I just couldn't deal with taking care of it. So for my entire childhood she brushed it all out and as an adult I spent 20 years taking a flat iron to it not knowing any better. So it started out pretty wavy the first time I did a curly wash day. and it's progressed to having a few weighed down ringlets here and there but this has only been since March of this year. Still struggling with what I need to be using and this whole moisture vs protein thing. I've always wondered how my daughter came out with super curly hair...lol Hers was very tight 3c curls as a baby but they started to weigh down and stretch out as she got older.

I’m trying to grow out my hair, and I get my hair cut every 2-3 months. I don’t straighten my hair anymore either. I’ll try finding the bounce curl leave in conditioner as well. I have a lot of layers and I don’t know if that makes it the way it is, or not. I use leave in conditioner, this curl cream, and a mosse (i don’t know how to spell it, also forgot the name brands. I think the mosse is Not your mothers, I have a lot of not your mothers products, it makes my hair really stick together and feel like little branches.) I dont follow the CGM anymore because the style and curls always came out the same no matter what I did. (I followed for a soild 2yrs and dont have any hair damage.) Im contemplating just cutting off the length. Maybe wearing my hair up is causing the front to be stretched out and less curly? Idk.

Do you live in a humid environment? I used to have this problem until I started using sulfates and silicones again, it actually helped me a lot. Silicones are great for keeping humidity out of your hair which reduces frizz and they don't build up on your hair as much as oils do. Glycerin free products are good too, or at least products who have glycerin low on the ingredients list. Amodimethicone is my favorite silicone personally bc it doesn't build up at all

But no matter how much work I put into my hair my hair is thick unmanageable and frizzing is just it’s natural state. Everytime I look up “why is my hair frizzy” and stuff like that it’s always tells me I have heat damage!? If you want to try to have healthy natural hair, do you have to completely do away with heat styling? I love both looks 😭

Do you have any videos on how to find the right hair part with curls?
@GenaMarie4 жыл бұрын
I don't, but that's a great suggestion. I think letting your curls fall where they naturally want to group is the best bet. I am filming a video soon on how to keep hair falling in your face, which covers the topic of parts so stay tuned :)

Gena Marie I think my problem is finding a good looking part so my curls don’t look flat but also not understanding which way to part in relation to the direction of my baby hairs, which also can frizz if not set and the baby hairs decide on their own direction!

I have more straight/wavy hair (male) except its weird, I have this one small section in the front of my hair, the hair on top I guess? a small section that curls to the left, no matter what I do. It does not match up with the rest of my hair at all.

My brother has natural 2C-3A curls, they’re most prominent on the front half of his head. The back half is flat-2a. We couldn’t get them to grow well the first time. Is the back of his head this way from him sleeping on it? What’s goin on

My top hair is completely straight... My lower hair on the other hand is pretty curly... This makes a haircut quite difficult as the lower hair ahrinks up a lot

my hair on the top is 100% straight. i have very thick, long (28 inches) and straight hair. but i have about five frizzy, short ringlets right at my neck. i have no idea what the cause is. i also do not use heat on my hair more often then around once a month, and use heat protectant, so i do not know what is causing them.

I’m on my journey back to curly hair. I have heat, color and straightening damage (over a period of 12 years). I have 3a 3b and sometimes 2c curls. I have tried to restore my hair with some luck but not what I was hoping for, that is, until I started to use Redkens Acidic Bonding Concentrate. I have used it (shampoo, conditioner, and leave in) twice so far and am ecstatic about the results. Would love for you to do a review.

Don’t know what to do, some parts are uneven zigzag,some straight, and parts in front are uneven curls. I couldn’t handle it so went for keratin treatment. (My left shoulder is severely injured & I cant use it to style hair) trying to style is almost impossible & can take hours. Ugh!

thank you! I’m thinking of buying Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Intensely Smooth Leave-In Conditioning Cream, SheaMoisture Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie, and Eco Professional Oil Styling Gel what do you recommend and should i get these products and layer them
@GenaMarie4 жыл бұрын
@@jennabruhh6306 The Garnier leave in is not silicone free, if you're looking for CGM-friendly products. I have never tried the Eco gel but have heard many people like it. The Shea Moisture smoothie is good if you have coarse or thick hair, but can be heavy if you have fine hair.

Any suggestions on how to get your waves/curls back after losing them? My hair strands became very fine and now my hair just falls flat(and breaks in clumps when washing) I been using a boar bristle brush and seems to be helping the new hairs grow in curly but it's taking forever lol
@valeriah.5314 жыл бұрын
If you notice major hair loss or thinning hair it might be a health related issue, perhaps iron deficiency. But I’m definitely not an expert so don’t take my word for it
@tamikajasmine62204 жыл бұрын
@@valeriah.531 honestly that could be, I know my doctor said I had some vitamin deficiencies the last time I was in. I havent taken my vitamins regularly for about two years now so I'll have to see If taking them again will help.
