Hello, Everyone, Welcome to HowFixit, in this video guide, I going to show you how to clean ps5 dualsense controller after liquid damage.
The game controller is the most frequently damaged device by juice, cola, tea, coffee, and if it happened to you, don't worry, you can clean the ps5 controller yourself from sticking buttons.
Tools you need to repair your PS5 DualSense controller:
- Phillips 1 screwdriver (if using HowFixit screwdriver kit this is Phillips 2)
- Plastic opening tool
- Tweezers
I recommend using isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs for cleaning. No solvents containing chemical elements, only isopropyl alcohol.
Also, I recommend using a magnetic mat during the repair process and laying out each screw and details step by step. This will help not to get confused during reassembly and most importantly, due to the magnetic base, you will not lose the screws.

Watch out when reassembling - there is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cut at 26:56 where it skips past screwing in the two screws that go just above the rumble motors. If you're wondering why you've got two screws left over at the end, this is probably why! It's also not clear on the video, but it's best when replacing the battery holder to tuck the red and black wires from the rumble motors behind the two little legs of the battery holder. Otherwise those wires will stick out and get caught when replacing the back cover.

Just wanted to say thanks for the video, my man. i didn't spill cola on it luckily but when my toddler was sick this week she had a bucket with a bit of water on the floor in case she needed to.. you know throw up while she was watching tv. She didn't throw up but when she moved the controller fell into the water and being completely submerged for a few seconds. I waited a few days to let it dry. it did charge, but the ps button didn't work so I couldn't turn it on. I tested it using game pad tester and saw that it did work, except for the ps button and also the buttons on the right side were weird, i press the circle button and i saw that i "pressed" all the buttons. long story short, since the controller was gone anyway I used this tutorial to try and clean the thing and while i didn't go further than the connector strip and the button rubbers it worked!

Thank you for this tutorial. My daughter was very kind in helping clean the controller that she ran it over pouring water. The controller did 3 flashes and stopped working. This tutorial helped me clean and dry the insides and now it's fully working again. 😊

11:11 As I figured on my own controller, the DualSense buttons are made of acrylic plastic and will crack from contact with the Isopropyl Alcohol. So I would recommend using just water with a light detergent like soap or dish soap for cleaning plastics (just make sure to dry them properly afterwards).

So... I managed to somehow damage my controller with isopropylic alcohol (i didn't even know how since this stuff evaporates so quickly) but the thing is that i was having stick drift problem and put a 99% alcohol solution inside my analog-stick opening... I put a lot of it so the alcohol may have spread around the controller's internal components, should i open up and clean it or it will fix itself when the alcohol evaporates? I dont exactly know what i should do

Is there an update version of this for the new controllers that just came out recently? They’ve made some changes and I don’t know how to get the touchpad sensor bracket off. Instead of the two screws in the top corners there is just the one, but it’s still attached to something and I don’t want to break it on accident.

**HELP** Thank you for the video. My son spilled Apple juice on one of his controllers, he never told me. Now the controller blinks orange twice when I plug it in to charge and won't turn on. I tried all the other fixes including disconnecting the Bluetooth, attempting to reconnect, and disconnecting the battery. Yes, of course, you can restore your controller. If any button does not work, you can replace the broken part of the controller. Links to spare parts in the description. Just follow the instructions.

Try this out, if it doesn't work then buy a new one. You just have be extra careful with those parts, if was you then I would buy a gaming laptop and a waterproof keyboard and a gaming mouse which would cost me abt 2090 bucks but it's worth it trust me. If you Don't wanna buy a pc then buy a new controller

Something like this happen to me but clean it 1 day later. The controller did charge but the PS button never work again. It couldn't turn it on so I end up buying another controller & keep the dmg one for spare parts.
