A.W. I am by no means an expert, but I believe the Acronis software is a bootable disc that allows you to boot off of it, backup your data, and then proceed with working on your problem.

I have a similar issue. I can get onto the desktop by going into safe mode and then doing a restart and Win10 will load, however this does not always happen and sometimes I mess around restarting the PC a few times to get into the desktop. I have had this problem for a at least 3 months and scanning through the system logs do not point towards an issue and SFC does not find a solution. so now I only reboot my desktop every few weeks and now have had several windows updates .... so I have pretty much buggered myself for rolling back!! any advance suggestions? One question though about a full restore, My PC was originally win7 and I later got the Win10 download installed automatically from MS. Will a full restore return me to 7 or 10? and if 7, how would I get my free win10 update back? Thanks and great channel! Oh one last question, if I have explorer open and I right click on a external drive, Windows always freezes for up to 4 minutes and still does not give me the right click menu.

All of these videos suggest that you can go to your troubleshoot screen after booting several times. Mines use to do that until two days ago when I used that stupid Windows 10 assistant application that mysteriously popped up on my computer. Since then my computer will no longer go to the 'diagnosing repair' screen. It will just keep going to that window icon and then restarting. I let my computer do this for two hours Thursday, then a few hours yesterday and still nothing. Do you have a tutorial for people who can't even get to that screen anymore?

I did. Sorry I don't have twitter so I'll give an answer here. I purchased a flash drive and found a youtube video by kilObit that explains how to make your flash drive bootable. I put the Windows 10 ISO file on it and it did everything it needed to do. I have to reinstall some programs but I was able to get it back up and running thanks to that video and not this one.

Hi Having this exact issue after installing windows update 1709 the system will not reboot. I can get into save mode with out networking tho. i don't want to reinstall windows and loose all my settings could you do a more advanced video on the command prompt way to undo the failed update so I can reboot to the previous state before the update. Thanks for the video, but one of my clients had problems and windows could not repair itself. I went into every option and his Dell tried to auto fix it and it asks "Choose your Keyboard Region", but it got stuck and I couldn't do anything. Advanced option to Reset or Keep my files didn't work either. Final, I had to reinstall windows.

Not sure if it will help. My father in law had similar issue. He tried to boot and would not load, then boot to desktop and shutdown after short time. Told him to bring it over to me ( was not connected to power for about 30 - 60 mins ) before bringing to me ( so pull power plug for a while ). I plugged it in and worked fine. Brought it home and was fine. Could also be due to usb devices. As I say could have been separate issue, but worth a try.

Don't know if this helps anyone else but the way I fixed mine was to power up the pc and wait 5mins then press the reset button if you have one, and thats it. Once it loads up I then press restart to allow it to complete any left over updates.

I find it every time there's a windows 10 update on my surface pro it fails to boot. I have to use a USB to reinstall as its the only way to recover the surface. Now as its done it again the mail app is broken. Tried everything I can think of including reinstalling windows. Same problem. It's very annoying and time consuming. Now I'm waiting for the next update so I can do it all over again, can't wait.

Thanks for this review. A December update gave me this issue. After rebooting to my recovery backup, I ended up turning off the Windows update service. I'll turn it back on in a month. With your suggestions I should now have a road map to a resolution.

Well, mine is just showing the windows logo after update, no spinning balls, no self repair, it wont even get to boot to a usb or dvd, i click f12 (choosing the boot device) it just freezes and then restarts and then boots into windows, and same thing for bios, i think windows update bricked my pc... shame..

Had this problem with 2 PC's that have SSD's. This problem, in my case, is due to Microsoft update targeting SSD's, as crazy as that sounds, it is true. Had to revert to win 7. But before I did, I restored win 10 to earlier version and it worked. Turned off auto update, but still updated (win will force the update) and same result. Frustrated, I went to win 7 all problems solved and happy. Win 7 support till 2020, so good till then and hopefully work around in place or Microsoft unfucks itself..won't hold breath.

yes i fixed it.... enter into safe mood and then uninstall all the apps ...all the apps will not uninstall ....if you uninstall one then again close the app tab and then again try to uninstall other

Well after a 5 gb update windows 10 doesn't boot up. If you keep having it crashes on boot let it try a few more times.. after a while it's gonna try (at least in my case) to restore to the previous working version.. and then you'll realize you've wasted time updating in the first place.

Acronis True Image a useful program ... I have used to clone a drive in case of drive failure. So just swap out drive. Saving time without have to reinstall windows, apps, documents etc !! :)

Start your System, then just after the Manufacturers logo disappears and Windows 10 tries to boot, press and hold the power button down for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a hard shut down Do this Twice On the third boot attempt, Windows will boot into the Windows 10 Repair Environment, from there you can access Startup Recovery, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.
