I am so glad I decided to look up this issue! Didn't even notice the card had a tiny fragment missing, followed your steps and out it fell. So quick and easy to fix something that has been bugging me for months, so thanks!

OMG - I have to admit, I was VERY skeptical, that something so bad could be so simple to fix. You just saved me a ton of money, I did EXACTLY what you suggested, and sure enough, a piece of plastic (probably from a cheap sd card) dropped out, in fact, it almost fell straight into my eye. I tested out my card slot right after, and I am in business again ! Thank you

I LOVE YOU!!! ...Same issue & I was ready to spend time, $$ & lots of energy to ship it off to Canon in Eastern Canada...I stopped & prayed to God & then got the idea to find a KZbin video... & in the 1st video this guy took a part his camera which discouraged me even more, as NO way I was going to attempt that! But then I saw you here with even the SAME 6D camera as I have & so I did exactly what you said; except that I fiddled around with the paper-clip & then gave it a hard tap while upside down on the tripod (as you suggested); & sure enough something fell out! I said out loud "NO WAY!!!" & now it's working thanks God & for you!!! :) :) THANKS AGAIN FOR POSTING THIS!!! - Darren

Thank you for making this video. I just bought this camera not too long ago and this happened to me. at first it didnt go in either and i keep forcing it and blowing on in. It came in and the camera couldn't read the card. I found this video and i realized that the card broked off and stuck in the card slot. Got it out using your method, but the camera still couldnt read the card still. I looks closer to the prongs inside the slot and found one that is pushing down due to the broken piece of the card. @@Photillustrator UPDATE: so the card goes in easily now. however, when I turned the camera on, I got the notification that "Card's lock activated" - My lock was off, I tried 2 cards. So, I had to go back in. Using a tiny Allen Wrench turned upside down, I "scrubbed" at the area where the lock detect is located. BAM! That worked. So not only did the card insert and exit difficulties get fixed, the issue with fake lock detection got fixed too. Don't ask me how one was related to the other, I never had gotten the lock card notification, until I got that little piece out of the bottom. Strange huh?

Thank you for you tip. Using the tripod gave me the precise angle and elevation to remove the pieces that jammed the slot. I let gravity do the work as you suggested, but did require some finagling to get the piece to drop. The pins or contacts are very delicate so it requires a delicate touch so as not to damage them, but I did find there is adequate space below the pins that the pieces will fall between. For larger or longer pieces, they can slide diagonally between the pins. You may have to learn to become a contortionist as you adjust your body’s orientation to the job. Most important is patience and care. Don’t rush the job. I used a sewing needle, a pen light and the tripod to do the job. Would prefer micro tweezers and lighted magnification, but had to do with what I had. Anyway, my comment was to thank you for the tripod tip, but I hope my tips can help someone else. Cheers.
