DigginLife21Sir, I apologize that I don't know your proper name. I'm trying to learn about correcting my 21 year old 1/3 mile gravel/red clay curvey, hilly, hardwood forest driveway with washboard sections and water collection holders that need some long overdue attention. I live in NGA way out of your circle, but I just wanted you to know how much I relate and appreciate your straight up, hard working, honest "the way you see it and figure it out" attitude that caps your apparent skills and solutions to bring a fine finish to the job end. I say this because I enjoy and respect that you put forth the extra effort to create and share these videos for all of us to learn from. If you just lived a little bit closer, I have a sweet spot in the hardwoods that needs some road work and you Sir would be my first call for help. Thank you for what you are doing for those that need help to start the process. Best, Dave Mayne Colbert GA

Great job man 😁👍and I'll say this again, thanks for putting in all the effort to show us everything involved like pricing and tips and tricks and then editing them and uploading, great quality too. I started my new job there in the new year and guess what.....we're back in lockdown (Ireland btw), I'm starting to lose faith in everything now, had a massive fight with my girlfriend and we're on a "break" now, I can't talk to my friends about because they will just take the piss out me ha. You're videos help more than just explaining what's going on in them but, they're an escape from life. Anyway sorry for rambling, and the talk about my situation (No one to talk to in real life lol) I know it's not place for it.

Where I live (Fairbanks Alaska), 85% of driveways are gravel (D1 3/4 inch minus basalt) so I certainty appreciate EVERY video you do on fixing gravel driveways. Great pointers... Thank you Todd.

I’m digging your tractor. Seems like you stay busy with it. I’m selling firewood as a side hustle and looking to expand. A tractor would help me skid to a deck rather than cutting where the tree falls so would be more productive. But I feel with a skid loader I could get more types of jobs. But seeing this video makes me think I could get some work for a tractor too!!
@Jaretx3 жыл бұрын
Do you use the tractor instead of a track loader so your cost per hour is less or do you prefer a tractor for driveway jobs?

I think the hardest part for guys wanting to learn and start with customers is pricing. You for sure seem to want to educate and teach new operators the skills they need. That being said how do you charge for a job like this? Is there an hourly rate you need to make on top of the gravel to cover your equipment and fuel expenses and profit? How does one calculate this based on their particular overhead? A guy with new equipment and expensive truck registration will need to get more than a guy with older paid for equipment etc.. Any thoughts on this?

What's that power inverter you're running? I was thinking of running a wall plug heater in my pickup, but the inverters I was looking at in harbor freight didn't seem like they could handle it ( or maybe I didn't want to pay for the largest one; I don't remember 😂 ).

Well , I agree with everything you did except, you didn't roll the rock . It's not going to stay in place unless you hammer it in . Most important to do on this kind of incline .Water will move it , cars will tear it up going around the radius at the top of the hill .
@adamdodds8693 жыл бұрын
That single axle dump at 36-38000 lbs packed that crusher down better than the average roller. And better than a car. Even after a smooth steel roller, the turning cars will eventually kick out the top rocks and water will do what water does. Maintenance is where it's at 👍🏼

Is that inch an a half road bond(ledge pack in NH)?
@MrMiles403 жыл бұрын
How much more difficult would it be if you did not have an air gate on your dump truck? Not so much? Also, 8tons is 16,000 lbs. you stated you would weigh around 37, 000lbs with the last load that was used to compact the material. Wilbur only weighs 21,000lbs?

What do you do when there are lots of leaves on the road? In Florida we have pine needles and they bunch up in the box blade. Any tricks other than rake or blow them off before starting?
