I went from 3.4 build 22110 tried to do the downgrade to 3.4 build 21265 like in your video but for some reason it downgraded to sync 3.3 build 19052? But why? I followed your directions?? This worked for my 2019 f250 and now I got the new layout and love it. As long as your half way competent with a computer and can answer basic info about your vehicle you shouldn’t have any issues. Thanks for the video

Just did this in my 2017 Ford Taurus Limited. It had the Sync 3.0. Updated to Sync 3.4. Much better. The old Sync would take forever to load and would never connect to my phone. Now it is so fast and responsive. Love it!

The KZbin algorithm takes me here probably because I made a video of the same damn problem😂😎🤦🏽‍♂️ I did the APIM software update; tested the APIM by going through some of the diagnostic tests and once GPS functions crapped out, everything has been working flawlessly the past 1+ years since I made the video. Just as a FYI to all that have and will preform this upgrade as I did earlier this year in my 2019 F350 I recently found out that once you’ve updated the APIM any map updates or SYNC that become available in you MY FORD account will not recognize your SYNC/APIM and any SYNC and map up days will now have to come from CYAN LABS . Which is no BIG DEAL this is strictly an FYI comment as I have found this out when FORD just recently released their newest map update.

I have a 2017 Ford Expedition that started encountering similar issues that everyone else seems to have. The Sync 3 system would not come on until a few mins after the vehicle was started, would take some time to be responsive etc. It really feels like the software on the APIM becomes laggy like an old windows laptop :). I'm sure the memory is fragmented, the file structures are full etc. I used the latest update from cyan labs as described here. This does a complete reformat of the APIM and it now works as good or perhaps better than it ever did. I saw the video from @Kinetic Energy 1085.... I honestly do not think it's directly related to the GPS, rather I think the system becomes so bogged down that it tries to load the map system and either struggles heavily (like mine was doing) or it simply can't. When the GPS failed, it no longer tries to the load the maps so it works better.... a complete reformat should fix that...which is different that the usual Ford APIM software update, it's a complete rebuild of the software and its subsystems.

I bought a used 2018 Explorer XLT from a dealer last week. Unfortunately, my test drive wasn't log enough to see the MAJOR lag and GPS issues the SYNC 3 system was having. The system was so laggy, I couldn't do an official system update via WiFi or USB. The Ford USB update will only have the "Updating System Software" message at the top of the screen with no progress indicator. I gave it 2.5 hours before giving up (engine has to be running the entire time...). Cyan's update worked perfectly! Within a minute or two, it was already going through the APIM reformatting and update, giving progress updates the entire time. It did give a message to remove the USB and turn the engine off then on at the beginning of the update. Ignore this and let it do its thing. Took about 45 minutes. Seems to run perfect now. Thank you!

I have a '22 Bronco Sport with Sync3 and it's slow AF, but only sometimes. I think it's a heat issue, i.e. the more you use it, the slower it gets or if it's a hot day, it's slow. It locks up occasionally which is very annoying on a brand new car. My Sony head unit from 5 years ago is better.

Hey I just came across this video and downloaded everything to my USB drive! Currently I’m not home so I can’t plug it into my truck yet, but what I’m wondering is, when you plugged the usb in the first time and let the truck do its thing, why did you go back to the computer a second time? Does this download/update need to be done in 2 separate parts? I can 100% say that @7:40 you pressed yes and then yes again to format drive then copy files. Your next screen said to go put drive in vehicle, come back and put drive into computer. That only happens to verify 2020 or newer to computer. If you had clicked NO at the 2020 screen then yes to the format and copy screen your next screen (after all files including maps) is the download files complete. You CANNOT CYOA on this one everyday boy

explorer 2021 has done it , I did not update the maps, feel free to use the functions that say to keep the maps, I don't use the navigation ford maps and you will know why.. they should have google maps built in if they already have wifi data built in so ... lol.. ok it does fix the laggy systems yes, it does not fix the Bluetooth lag between audio and video, thay issue still persist,

You can activate carplay using forscan if you dont already have it. You also need proper usb hub to plug into.
