OMG this video was so helpful. The Leak is FIXED!!! The body shop wanted to charge me 371.00 they said the entire overhead fabric had to be taken down. The only thing I would add to make it better is to show where the tube connects and how to get the other side of the visor off. I figured it out with a friend. You were right the tube had separated. I pushed the pieces together and they kept dislodging when I snapped the side piece back on. Finally on the 3rd try, I sprayed some Flex Seal around the pieces. It was good it did not rain for a few days and gave it time to cure. It rained like mad the other day. I was so happy when I rubbed my hand on the floor carpet and it was DRY!!! Thank you so much.

If anyone runs into this problem my sunroof drain hose was connected at the top but it wasnt connected to the rubber boot on the car door where it drains out, it was just hanging free so any water that did drain was draining into my car instead of out of the drain hole. Thank you for the video it saved me from tearing down my entire roof =D

Some people use air to clear out the hose. Doing this can blow the hose off of the connector. Test your drains with water to see which one or more that one isn't draining good. On the front check the bottom connector is connected. If ok you will have to remove or loosen the side of the head liner of the problem area. You can reach up and feel if the hose is connected or not. We repaired the front driver side bottom and the drivers side rear drain up top. Had my new driver son help with the repair so he could remember how it's done. This video was a lot of help.

A thousand thanks for this information!!!! My issue was that the rear tubes were not connected up by the sun roof. My 2008 was garage kept for several years and the problem just showed up after my car was out in the weather for a couple years. Back floor and rear seat by the doors were soaked. I used the water test before and after reattaching the tubes and clearly saw the difference. I've read that several people paid repairs that were several hundred dollars up to $1000. This did take me more than 10 minutes, but was able to fix myself (With help from my husband!) in about an hour and saved a boat load of money. So again, a thousand thanks!

I don't own a G6 but I do own an 02 Pontiac Grand Am GT and your video was still very helpful for identifying the drain in the door jams. Thank you!

Some also use the heavier weed whacker string to run through vs compressed air.

Thank you, sir! This helped me perfectly. Seems that my hose became disconnected on the opposite end somehow. Appreciate it!

Thank you for uploading! I have been having issues with the passenger seatbelt being soaked when you pull the belt out far enough. I might just try this before I take it into a shop like I had planned. I'll get back with results soon!

I didn't believe my buddy when he said it's my sunroof causing the leak into my door. This proves me wrong. Now I can finally replace the speakers without worrying about them getting wet again.

Great video! very informational. I have the same car, with a small leak by the top of the window, coming down from the sunroof. I tried this exact thing, but I don't see any front drain pipes. I thinking maybe my sunroof was an aftermarket.

Thanks for posting. I have the same issue on my pontiac G6.

I would add that you should also use a multi purpose glue to the ends of the tubes where they connect so they can lock together permanently.

Ya mine leaks on passenger side as well. Must be disconnected by where seatbelt attaches, although I'm still wondering how water is getting up underneath there when I haven't opened my sunroof all winter. I was thinking it was a seal issue but hopefully this fixes it. I can see that the window sits lower in the back right corner...however, if the drain tube was connected properly, the water wouldn't be making it into my car. So thanks in advance for the video!!!

To aid in access, remove the trim around the inside of the sunroof opening and all those parts can be accessed from a more comfortable position. It also helps to use a very small amount of windshield urethane around the tube prior to reinsertion into the green fitting. This will not allow the tube to fall out again in the future.

use weed eater trimmer line!!! fish it up from the lower exit drain or down from the top if you can find the inlets.

Frank M. Compressed air helps with clearing dirt and debris that will aid in having clear exit lines for water to drain.

Great video! I would just point out that part of the problem is the tubes are too short. This is the biggest reason for this happening in the first place. GM actually has a kit for around $18 to fix this issue. It has two lengths of tube and comes with clamps as well. I did this two years ago and have not had an issue since. I suppose you could buy tubing and clamps on your own, but for $18 to fix this on an otherwise awesome car was just fine for me. Of course, I found this by taking the whole headliner down so your video will save others time. Thank for sharing!
@PrestigeWorldWidePWW8 жыл бұрын
or save money and buy tubing yourself and cut to length from menards

because big business does NOT care about their customers comfort, or safety. Just think back to Asbestos, and all those people who died in their GM vehicles.

How the hell do I get the seatbelt to disconnect?!
@TSlater509 жыл бұрын
I see it's been a month, but, you just remove the tab at the top and remove the screw behind it ........ make sure the belt height adjustment is lowered or you won't see the screw. After that just pull the cover loose. this will give you room to pull the headliner back.

Yea dont worry about it breaking because we all know old dry plastic never breaks. Use a very cheap trim removal tool
