@That70sChannel3 жыл бұрын
@@johnwren3976 You could calculate some sort of opportunity cost or carrying costs for his capital invested (and returned) but if you want to discuss his outlay of capital that's an ROI problem. He gets to use that same capital over and over again. Sure he had to earn it at some time in the past, but capital is capital whether it's in your wallet or you borrow it from the bank. You don't subtract the value of a mechanic's tools from his hourly earnings just because he used past hourly wages to buy the tools that he uses over and over thereafter. What if he paid the entire amounts of expenses with a cash advance for the card and bought his parts and supplies? He could have paid off all his sundry charges before any charges for them accrued. In that case his entire carrying charge would be whatever the cash advance fee was.

One thing he didn’t mention is whenever you mess with suspension or front end components always get an alignment after. It's interesting that the tire shop did an alignment with that bad ball joint and loose UCA. Any alignment shop worth their salt will quickly recognize that there is play in the front end and tell you that they can't do the alignment until the loose/bad parts are fixed. They can get "close" if it's way off, but you can't truly do an alignment with loose front-end components. Of course, you were doing this just to flip the car, so who cares if the alignment is slightly off after doing the front end repairs. But for anyone watching your videos and picking up car repair tips, the correct order of operations would have been to fix the suspension issues FIRST, and THEN go get an alignment + new tires. Nice work! Your intuition for diagnosis is impressive.

Really useful as I tend to buy and sell. Just bought my first car to flip, and also had a list of things Ive ticked off. My prob is that I'm not mechanical, so apart from simple stuff, and cleaning, I need to factor in labour. On pricing, I sellbquite a lot of things on the Wallapop Spanish site, and my rule for anything is NEVER meet the buyer without them agreeing to somewhere near the price first. It'll save hours of unpaid labour. If they turn up and then lowball you and just want to try the car, you've been taken for a sucker. I normally block stupid low offer makers without replying. I tell potentials that I'm not a dealer and can't give test drives unless we get to the last stage. Honestly, I'd say this is the most important thing I've learned selling bikes and cars. Avoid time wasters!! You got 6, but could've got more. I wouldn't have met that guy 😄, I'm subscribed. Great tutorials!

Love this video bro, really informative, love how detailed yet simplified you are; as well as the mention of the tools/products necessary. Really wish I had someone like you around me to teach me hands on; and maybe that's something you could look into. Maybe it would have to be virtual for someone like me who lives in Barbados, but for sure you could do the hands on bit for folks in your immediate and not so immediate community; especially the younger folk to teach them a viable trade, and turn them from crime. Plus it's essential to pass on top skills like yours to the next generation so they don't die with you, and that the art/legacy can live on.

What do you do about the title? Do you put it in your name for only as few weeks? Or do you have the previous owner sign and notarize their side but NOT transfer it over? Then transfer from the old owner to the new buyer without your name being on it?

Well with the economy and stocks at where it is now, I'd be disappointed if people weren't making any error on their portfolio at this time, it was much easier to navigate during the bullrun, regardless I still see and read articles of people pulling over $225k by the weeks in trades, how come?

The US-Stock Mrkt had been on it’s longest bull-run in history, so the mass hysteria and panic is relatable, considering we’re not accustomed to such troubled mrkts, but there are avenues lurking around if you know where to look, I’ve netted over $850k in the past 10months and it wasn't some rocket-science strat. Great video! The only question i have is, why would you do an alignment adjustment before you switch out things on your suspension? That could mess up the alignment again
He's not racing it, just needs it to testdrive in a straight line. If the next owner wants corner balancing, they can have at it. It'd be a waste though.
@MajorSkyGod2 жыл бұрын
@@josephmassey1306 you don’t know much about cars huh? If your alignments aren’t correct, your tires will wear out quick. Like really quick, and you won’t notice it until you have to replace them.

I was going to say the same thing. Always wait until the front end is finished to do an allignment. Slight differences in any part can cause an allignment change
@djk5703 Жыл бұрын
Great detailed video. The only thing I would recommend incorporating is the transfer and title cost. Also, sometimes it is worth completing the suspension repairs prior to getting an alignment. Luckily for this car, the ball joint and some tightening didn't seem to affect the alignment. Great content man!

Always check for blown head gasket when inspecting used cars. I got burned once, ended up having to replace the head gasket myself and it took hours and hours and about $300. if you get it done professionally, it’ll cost as least $1,000 but usually way more. I recommend those leak test kits you can get from the auto parts store for around $20 that tests for leaks. You can also look for a milk shake substance under the oil cap, and if you see the coolant level is low without any leaks, you know there’s a problem. There will sometimes be white smoke out the exhaust if it’s bad enough. If you see any of those symptoms, just walk away, it’s not worth the hassle
@bloodgain3 жыл бұрын
A lot of mechanics won't even touch an older car with a blown head gasket and just quote you dropping in a rebuilt or junkyard block instead, especially if it's a cramped engine bay. By the time you pay labor to break it down, if it turns out the block is damaged (water in a hot engine does bad things), you're already in for a chunk of change and still need a replacement. We blew the head gasket on a '94 Ford Explorer around ~2006. I sold it for $600, fully disclosing the issue, which was roughly private party value minus a professional engine replacement, and had more than one buyer interested. It was worthwhile for someone willing to do the work themselves, but probably not if they were flipping it. If they got lucky, though, they might have only spent $300 and a lot of sweat, like you. I think the eventual buyers were a guy and his older teen son. My ex FIL has a '93, nearly identical, that's rusted out but still runs.

@deadcalifornia Жыл бұрын
he most certainly transfers all title to his name, to sell it needs to be in his name
@keithgibbons92 Жыл бұрын
He may be able to afford to based on his state of residence and his KZbin revenues. Most car-flippers are playing an illegal game of leaving the purchaser line blank and making it look like the last seller sold it to the one the flipper is selling to. Then they don't report the income to the IRS and are guilty of tax evasion. Also, if they flip more than 2-4 cars a year, they are guilty of running a dealership without a business/dealer's license. Also driving without insuring or licensing the vehicle. If you're gonna flip using these methods, please keep a good amount of cash on hand for your eventual need for a criminal defense attorney, a tax attorney, and a CPA for when the IRS and the district attorney come banging on your door.
