I'm still learning and was out in high wind and chop today. Went upwind far from shore and my wing flipped over. Normally, not a problem but I couldn't flip it - getting knocked off the board and using a lot of energy, getting blown further off shore. A bit of panic set in! I managed to flip it by going in the water and rode all the way back to shore in a straight line. Then went home ;-). Tomorrow I'm just going to practice these techniques in the water until I can do it without thinking. Thank you!

Great, thanks 🙏! Had several lessons this year, no none told me these details. The practising advice with sitting helps a lot! Greetings from Germany!

I put extension line on leash so leash can go comfortably around wing span.

Thanks Guys for another great video. I’m learning to wing in Hong Kong and the temperature has dropped recently from around 77 to 50. The winds are great but I need a good wetsuit. Not sure if you guys have done any videos on what kind of wetsuit to go for? The ones I can find here seem to be more designed for scuba and are very stiff. Wish I was having your kind of weather! Take it easy and Happy New Year!

Sounds like Ocean K might have you covered. We will think about a video for this thank you! I think a 5'4 or even a 6/54 can be incredibly warm with a hood.

It helps to grab the leash when you fall so the wing is less likely to flip over. It also helps keep the wing from pulling your arm out of its socket.

I'd love to hear any tips on flipping the wing while still up on foil if anyone has some. When I catch a wing tip on the water I can usually stay up on foil but run out of steam (and fall off) before I can flip it back again.

I think that is more luck or skill to get that wing flipped while on foil. You usually loose speed and come off foil. Tricky one....

I find easier to flip the wing in the water, before you get back on the board. Just grab one tip of the wing and the wind will roll it 😊

Second half of this video where one grabs the wing tip should be required viewing. It’s hard watching people struggling to flip the wing by lifting from the middle.
