Can you show the filters too? I am not sure where they are or how to clean them. Also what did you add to the water flush solution? Any descaling chemical or anything??

Wondering why you didn't flush both the domestic hot water AND the space heating sides of the combi unit?
@themillennialhomeowner1661 Жыл бұрын
Good question. I did once and it didn’t go so well…and then I read you’re not supposed to because it’s a closed loop system and by adding new water it adds oxygen to the existing water that is purged of oxygen and it will corrode the heat exchanger. Just what I read!

Good informative video! For a combi unit do you need to flush out both the domestic hot water and central heat exchangers? In other words do a one hour flush for each the domestic hot water and central heat? The central heat pipes are usually 1" versus the 3/4" for domestic hot water. So how is the central heat side flushed?
@themillennialhomeowner166110 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! From what I know you only flush the domestic side. The other side is a closed system

@@themillennialhomeowner1661 Hey, this is the first video of yours I came across. Good job and thanks for posting. FYI, in talking to the maintenance folks from the company who installed my system, they recommend a flush of the domestic side every year and the heating side every other year.
@Jallelab991415 күн бұрын
@@jshearman17 I heard the same, the closed loop system should still be flushed but not often because its closed loop and doesn't have new water running through it constantly.

@themillennialhomeowner1661 Жыл бұрын
Sounds like the heat exchanger for the heat side may need to be replaced but flushing certainly wouldn’t be a bad place to start. Never know 👍🏻

Do you like the Navien Combi? I had one installed several year ago, and I also pay to have it flushed every fall, but I feel it’s a money pit.

After I worked the kinks out with the error codes I was getting it’s been great! It’s easy to flush, I bet they charge crazy money to do so. I have a video on my page showing how!

I am in the UK and I have not been able to find the ball valves mentioned in this video allowing the service engineer to easily attach the water flushing pipes. Can anyone recommend a supplier. No problem to import if necessary

I have two hot and cold inlets and outlets - a domestic line and a heating water line. Which do I attach the circulation hoses to for descaling? Do i need to shut off all the lines?
@dougchoate20092 ай бұрын
The second hot is a recirculating line, I have one too. Love it. Also close that valve when performing this maintenance

Other side is a closed loop system and new air via new cold water shouldn’t be introduced. Probably why there’s an air purge ;)

@@themillennialhomeowner1661 lol, no I think you were correct when you said air. When any gas (air, O2, etc) gets in the pipes, it can mess with the flow. Then you'll need to find and open up any bleeder valves, which are usually at the highest point in a specific heating loop. On a separate note, what was the ratio of water to vinegar that you used?
