As an aeronautical engineer the information you gave about anti icing system was much better than my teachers explanations, and apart from that many people review cars but no one reviews plane. will you please start reviewing planes for us by telling their specifications.
@Idk9103 жыл бұрын
I’m an aeronautical engineer as well but I’ve never referred to them as “static wicks” but instead static dissipators. And in case of a lightning strike energy wouldn’t be proportionate meaning the vortex generators would come into play. The anti-ice system on the leading edge of the wings was also a little bit misleading in the information he’d given without mentioning the pitot tube. I totally understand this isn’t an “aircraft 101” video by any means but even as condensed as the 20 second topic was on the video I wouldn’t say it’s “better than a teacher’s explanation” 😂. Now you have people liking your comment thinking “this shitis easy asf. Ima go make big money as an aeronautical engineer”

@@Sam-ys6iw @Shaujun •_• Just because he "supposedly" owns a jet, doesn't mean he knows how to fly it, or anything about how an airplane works. Most rich people that own planes hire pilots and crew to operate them - they don't do it themselves. Doing some quick googling, I can see he was part owner of a private jet service management company, but that only lasted one year and was sold to someone else (or a shell company for tax purposes). Doesn't make him a pilot, or an engineer, able to fly an aircraft, or understand how one works. " In 2006, Blakey became co-owner responsible for "fleet growth" of Pylon International Inc., a private jet charter and service management company based in Van Nuys, California. Pylon was later acquired by IJM Holdings Corporation in August 2007." He's probably still connected to it in some way, and this is just and ad to drum up more private jet charter business, which he makes a profit on, otherwise he wouldn't be spending his time promoting it. I'd put the link to where I got the quote from, but if I do, KZbin deletes the comment thinking it's spam. Google it yourself.

@@tapetwo7115 (sorry for the long message lollll, by the way how are you doing so far??) hey g! I’d say I’m on a successful path rn got into my favorite university a couple months ago for fall term. Still with my gf for over 6 years. I have a 6 figure commission job, but I think I’m quitting this month to work for my families businesses. I’ll start off making around $50-60k, but idk I don’t think that’s bad for 23 because atleast Ik I’m going to securely get paid weekly. Also the more I do the more I get paid so in a couple years it’ll be over $100k so I’m not really tripping. Plus it’s best to help my families business so I can help make it thrive rather than me working for my friends families business lol. The con for me is I had to drop out to get this job so I’m set back 2 terms for college thanks to this job so that’ll suck, but me getting into the university I want makes up for it as I still have two associates. So I would say ultimately I’m on a successful path especially if I get my bachelors degree then tbh I can make more like $200k+ securely around 2027 (dad retires too). A private jet I can see myself getting, but not soon anymore lol. Trust me it doesn’t phase me one bit as I’m happy with me life! (You can ignore everything below this part if you’d like as it’s more so of an explanation) basically there was a shop we bought in a perfect location and we already have another shop (same franchise) and it’s doing phenomenal top 10 in state and on a less busy road. So we got this shop, but it ended up being a HUUGE Dud thanks to Covid ruining the grand opening too as the previous owners tanked this location… ultimately we couldn’t turn it around even the corporation themselves couldn’t get their guys to flip it so it was a huge L in terms of money lost… if that shop did good? Instead of me making $200k it would be more like $350k. Because of my dads great background the corporation allowed us to get a new shop whenever we wanted and we don’t have to worry about down payment money etc… so ideally we would get a new shop every year so when it’s like 2027 I could be making around $800k+. That’s also why I was thinking about getting a private jet at some point because I’d buy shops outside of state too. Now in the past year I’ve come to a realization that if I can have a $1 million house, never worry about bills, have a fun car and a nice daily, go on vacations, eat what I want, that’s just as good as me living a private jet life tbh with a $5-10 million house etc etc. I smoke a lot of weed both medical and rec and honestly I just want to chill in life and be successful while not stressing my balls off everyday trying to find new ways to make money and miss out on enjoying the present.

Ive looked in to it and thought the same. The issue is how long you will have the plane at your destination, most charters charge a pretty hefty rate to leave the plane grounded. So if you're just going for a day trip, dinner, a business meeting ok, but a multi day trip the fees add up quick.

Well, you have to double the purchase prices Michael is talking about, and the running costs are about 60-70% (unless he's including the cost of flying, like fuel and crew etc)... ... but if you really want cheap private jet flying, look at "empty leg charter" websites. These jets have to position to airports to pick up paying clients, and you can hop on the ferry leg for a fraction of the hire cost (although you lose the flexibility that comes from being a full fare client).

Great video, enjoyed it much. Interesting point of view. I think the Challenger 601 from the late eighties will be around 1,2M up to 1.5M to afford one in good shape. The Cessna Citation 501 goes for 300K to 500K and the 560 rather 600K to 850K I would think. But like Michael said, the price is not the deal, the operation and maintenance costs speaking on the deal, that only still makes it affordable with big bucket of bugs. Here in Germany they charge more to charter these planes. A 3 hour flight back anf forth all in is easily by 15-20K in a small Citation. There is the US more in an advantage, I guess. The Embraer is like Michael said, the ultimate choice of private flying, if money is there to afford this one. Amazing plane. Thanks for the great update and video on this. Really interesting.

There are alot of expenses not considered here. For example, the cost to store the plane at your location.

Imagine being a flight attendant and having to sit on the toilet in between usage....Flight back from Vegas with people consuming lot's of alcohol before crushing the cheap seafood buffet and then they fly back. And you have to sit on that toilet 🤣
@BaxterretxaB3 жыл бұрын
The toilet is rarely used and has an actual cushion and seat belt. If you saw it you would never know it’s a toilet unless they lifted the seat cushion. I’d imagine it’s actually cleaner than your bathroom at home.

Some times if you get lucky and just happen to find a private jet that is where you are but needs to go somewhere else to pick up its next customer so you get to fly on it for dirt cheap. I flew from Portland, Oregon to Chicago a few years back and was able to find a jet flying an empty leg. My ex girlfriend and I had an entire g450 to ourselves minus the pilots and a flight attendant. We were going to spend roughly 600$ each to fly first class non-stop 1 way commercial and the charter company just said since it was just her and I, we didn't need anything to be stocked on the jet and we were willing to go to the airport they needed to go to and not have to go anywhere else, they just said tip the staff really well! So I gave each of the staff 100$ each. So we flew on a g450 private jet to Chicago for 300$!

Just FYI, no, the static wicks don't discharge lightning. The dissipate residual static charge picked up by the airframe as it travels through the air. The purpose of it is to reduce radio interference from those static charges. Airplanes do get struck by lightning, but with a metal frame aircraft it tends to have lots of ways to pass through the aircraft. Its only really a problem with very modern composite (plastic) airplanes that are non-conductive, and they embed wires in the airframe as necessary to give the lightning a path to enter and exit the aircraft.

It's all a matter of how many people you are, how long the flight is and for how long you're staying at your destination. If you're 8 people, going from Los Angeles to Las Vegas for a day and back, you can just charter a plane for about 1 700 $ per person. No maintenance, no financing, nothing. Just book the plane and you're off. Just put your dedication and effort with some friends and you're good to go to have a great experience! :)

It's really crazy honestly It's the challenger, btw, the second jet he showed, the interiors also look exactly the same
