A DS (from another platoon)didn't like the way I was moving and pushed me against another PVT than proceeded to pick me up and slam me against him, over and over. I didn't say anything until that same DS a couple weeks later decided to kick me off of a bus after my DS told me to get on it. After getting off my DS (Hurricane Johnson) went crazy on me about getting off the bus. No win situation. The other DS came out and started yelling at me and to my surprise my DS asked me WTF was going on. At that time I told him. My DS put me back on the bus, a bunch of us were picked for a 4th of July function. I will always remember my DS asking me "did he put his fucking hands on you". When I got back the whole platoon had been questioned by the C.O. All of this had happened after a soldier in C Co killed himself. Two DS' had to apologize to me in front of the C.O.. I never heard about it again. DS Hurricane Johnson was one of the best NCO's I ever had. B Co 2/54 Ft. Benning, Ga.

During shakedown the girl next to me was crying because she hadn't brought enough underwear and I couldn't keep a straight face. Immediately, I had 3 drill sgts in my face, shouting at me what I found so funny and what came out was, "Her lack of panty planning, Drill Sgt!" very loudly. It earned our platoon our first smoke session (for laughing) and put me on my drill sgts' radar. Two days later I was forced to down a canteen full of water and puked it right back up on my drill sgt's boots. His response was, "Out-doggone-standing! She even pukes Army Green!" The story (and the quote) made the rounds and by nightfall everyone knew my name. Then I choked in the chow hall and had to be given the Heimlich, which put me on the Company Commander and First Sgt's radar (along with the guy they gave a medal to for saving my life).

I came upon your videos by accident but am enjoying myself watching them because they bring back memories I experienced in Basic Training at Ft. Jackson from Sept. 1988 -Dec. 1988. I spent about three weeks in Fitness CO before moving on to actual Basic Training so that is why my stay there was so long. I served from 1988-1996 and am a veteran of Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I could go on and on but I won't. If I had one piece of advice...don't volunteer to be a Road Guard. Someone gave me that advice on my way to MEPS in KC and then when I finally got to Basic the Drill Sgt handed me an orange Road Guard vest and I didn't want to take it but I had no choice and from that moment on I ran every fricking where whether I was in PT uniform or marching with a full rucksack...not fun. lol

As a canadian I went against myself to the St-Jean Military College, the equivalent of West Point, in 1965 and I can admit that I was the perfect example of what not to pass under the radar during my 5 months stay there. I din't any sports before coming there and as you can imagine I was the very last ot ALL THE COLLEGE in PT test. I did my 1 mile run in 11:30 by crawling to the finish line. Maybe I had some hidden talents because 13 years later I did a sub 3 hrs marathon. Asking stupid questions was my cup of tea. It took less than 2 hrs to be known from the commanding officer to the janitor. Following my total rock and roll stay the canadian departement of defense changed their ROTP admission creterias to make sure that no other guys like me will be accepted in this place

I also had an extra question : in many videos, you mention the training you conducted prior your Basic Training. From what I understood, you were doing 200 push-ups, 200 pull-ups, 2 miles in the morning, 2 miles at the end of the day. Were you doing more exercices ? And how were you doing the push-ups/pull-ups ? In one large session with breaks or like your running, half in the morning, half at the end of the day? Thanks a lot and keep going, you're a example for me!

Hey Matt. How do I get better at running. I have trouble just finishing a mile without stopping. I stop multiple times. I can do like 70 push ups and sit ups but running is my weak spot. People have been giving me bullshit like treadmill and elliptical but I feel like that doesn't help. I am aiming for 12 50

Prepare for reality, not TV shows, movies , computer games, etc. Don't arrive under light MK ultra., you will crumble. Accept reality and way, way before prepare your self. Get the REAL info and help available to you. It starts with the recruiter and watch Matt's videos, they help tremendously. Stay away from tell lie vision for a while. Nixon said " If you want people to believe, put it on Television. "

Hey Matt, could you make a video explaining the opposite of this video? Say I am super good at what I do, what steps do I take to become noticed so I can become squad or platoon leader/sergeant.

If I want to eventually try out for SF would I be better off standing out in basic training? Also do you have a video about the positives of standing out in basic training?
@diavontepele-clark81816 жыл бұрын
Fat Sucker standing out im basic has nothing to do with being in SF. If you'd like to be SF then you'd either have to wait until you are 21 or you'd have to join the army rangers (or some high speed infantry unit) then you could be picked up by SF.

Shipping in a few weeks and it seems unavoidable that I'll get noticed. I'm old, I scored 99 on the ASVAB, I run 2 miles in 11 minutes, never fired a gun in my life, and after BCT I'm headed to the Army Chorus. So I'm a weirdo, in these ways and others. I would really like to fly under the radar, but I think I need to embrace the reality that it's not going to happen. But if being made to sing the Star-Spangled Banner all the time is the worst of it, then fine: I'm a professional singer, so it's not like that's way out of my comfort zone or something.

I flew pretty much under the radar all the times. The only time I got noticed was one time shark attack.
