How to: Ford power steering fluid flush & change

A complete flush and replacement of power assist steering fluid on a Ford Duratec HE. The car featured is a Mondeo Mk 3 (2000--2007) but the process will be near identical on any other Duratec and indeed Ford.

Also includes a flush with crank sensor disconnected.
You will need:
* Power steering fluid, originally to Ford specification M2C195-A (old)...

** Warning! Some fluid product listings online are listing Ford spec M2C938-A as a replacement for M2C195-A. That is Mercon LV ATF and I'm fairly sure it's an error.
* Flat blade screwdriver
* Torx bits and 1/4" wrenches to suit if you disconnect the lines from the rack
* Rags to soak up spilled fluid.
* Oil drain pan.
* Funnel(s).

Oh your Mondeo is still alive. Nice to see. Had an European Fusion 1.4 and the power steering pump sounded like a mix of a hard working dentist drill and a noisy supercharger .

4:20 if you just want to cranking the engine without starting it, just press gas pedal all the way in and then turn the key, works on 99% of cars, also on mondeo 3

As I am knocking on bit,could it be done by first of all by emptying the reservoir ten refill drive a few miles and keep doing this until clean appears.

Yes but the reservoir doesn't really hold that much, most of the fluid is in the hosing and the rack. If you do it that way you will waste a lot of fluid as you end up throwing away a lot of new mixed with the old. Might not cost more to just get a shop to do it for you.

@@guillermogorgeaguire1083 it does normally with any car. if your car burns suddendly a lot of oil try it, you can also check if PCV works with the oil cap, but im not very sure about it. you must read into that
