Hey, on the Focus it was easy, I removed the headlight and could come in from that angle. But no idea on a Volvo - sorry.

Hi mate with a fresh head new pump in place happy feeling now all that's left is the pipes.. how did you connect yours so easily did you lightly bolt them to the frame then into the steering rack..
@griceyboy12 күн бұрын
@ hey, well done. Yes , that’s right. I added some silicon spray to the seals just to add some safe lubrication, then just pushed them in and tightened everything up, making sure it was all square , but everything went in fine and normal. Just avoid any dirt and crap from around the area getting in. Mine was pretty clean, but I brushed any dirt away with brake cleaner, before I took the old pipes off. The only slightly tricky bit of the process is getting the metal pipe pushed into that one way Union bolt, but it pushes in a bit hard and clicks.,

hi. I have a volvo v50 with same motor as the ford focus but in my case the leak started at the electrical connector at 7:26. do you think the motor is shot or can i replace connector that goes to the motor. would appreciate a reply

would you possibly sell it to me if you still have the old pump
@griceyboy16 күн бұрын
Hey there. Thanks for the messages. I recycled the old pump . I would say that you can unscrew the electrical socket and replace that. If it’s leaking around the Threads, then possibly you could reseal it with ptfe tape, or it may be a rubber seal . If the socket has cracked, then you’ll defo need a new one. Try that first, otherwise the pump is £50, plus you may need a new hard line etc etc (much more effort and cost ).

Hawk Tuahhh for lubrication also where is fuse for steering pump?
@griceyboy3 ай бұрын
@@georgejexter hey, I’m not sure as I only did this task, then gave the car back - all is great on it. Most cars have two fuse boxes, one under the bonnet usually..! Good luck and spit on that thang!

How do I get the alternator off mate? Which bolt do I start with? The two top ones? I don’t want to snap the lower bolt under the tension of the belt
@griceyboy2 ай бұрын
@@louisronan5903 hello, so you loosen the bottom bolt, that’s a pivot bolt. Then remove the top two and then the alternator just swings downwards a bit, allowing you to get the belt off easily. When you put it back together, you can basically do up the bottom bolt (not fully tight), then lever the alternator up to its position with something like a short crow bar or jack handle etc, then get the bolts in a few turns, then tighten them up and the belt should tension up correctly. Spin the engine to check it’s all on right (should be obvious). Good luck! I’ve got the front arms to do this weekend, so you may see my 2nd Focus video…

@@griceyboy: Hi mate, do you leave the O ring where it is or put it in the groove around the Union bolt?
@griceyboy2 ай бұрын
@@louisronan5903 hey there, I just left the Teflon washer how it was positioned when it arrived, then screwed that into the pump and torqued it up (I think it was around 30NM), then that was it. I saw the car yesterday to do the front arms and zero leaks on the pump :£
