It seems that planning the future is related to seasons (you need to prepare yourself for winter, food scarcity). Languages that are close to equator tend to naturally lack future as there is no long winter (cold, food scarcity), there is no need for planing if you have constant food abundance, no need to think of how to preserve food surplus.
