Thank you SO SO MUCH! You have absolutely NO IDEA how this video, and the one for the drain pump helped us! The representative we spoke to said with all of the symptoms it was showing, would have to have either been the drain pump, the lock assembly, or maybe even both. Otherwise, we'd end up finding ourselves buying an entirely new washer. And who has $ like that dropping out all the time on a whim, right?! So we replaced the drain pump. Nothing happened. Still stuck on pause. Then replaced the lock. And there it was 😊! That's what it was, and all it took! So now we have a new drain pump and lock assembly on it. It needed a new pump anyhow I'm sure. Especially with all of the debris and such we found inside of the filter area. So again, thank you SO MUCH a million times over! Your videos helped tremendously!

On my Frigidaire washer there are two screws that hold the top panel on. Simply slide the top cover back and this switch is accessible by reaching down and hold it while taking out the two Phillips screws. No need to pull back the gasket with a washer with a removable top panel.

Kenmore front load washer worked just fine first 6, or so, months. Suddenly started buzzing, stopping, and sometimes shutting off completely. A lot of clicking noise coming from door latch/lock area. Could this be the door latch causing all this aggravation?

Thanks for the video. My washer suddeny started making a loud buzzing noise after it worked perfectly fine on the last load. I turned out that this rubber gasket was not seated properly around the latch assembly (between the 3 & 6 oclock position) and didn't allow the door to close fully. Attached the seal properly and working great now.

I had no need to replace this unit. All I did was give the magnetic latch sockets a wash out of electronics contact spray cleaner. Let it dry then a quick shot of lubricant.

I brought a new washer door lock assembly and latch because the washer would fill up with water, but the door would not lock causing the washer not to work. After replacing the switch on the door and the latch the door still not wanting to lock, any ideas? I've already tested the switch and it's fine. Help please I have a Frigidaire Affinity front loader washer.

maybe yours is like mine: there's a spring-loaded steel cable around it to keep it tight. I forgot all about it but it popped off when I pried with a plastic tool.

It could be a bad door lock if it is not locking but unfortunately we do not have any info on this brand. You might try some local forums for trouble shooting help!

a problem I had before was the door is open, and won't latch. I replaced the door lock assembly, no change - the repairman had to bend and tweak the door to get it to close and latch. Now it is doing this again - when I remove the latch from the machine, it locks properly unto the plastic door latch - how come it won't do this once I put the latch back on the machine again? Frigidaire GLTF1040ASO, circa 2003 - good machine other than this, have avoided using bleach in it though -

If the door or hinge mechanism is warped it could cause issues with the lock and catch engaging.

when the tech came out, the main prob was simply the gasket not being in place all around the door - mine does not have a wire retaining ring or anything - once this was in place the door would latch. However, this keeps happening now, wonder if I have to glue the adhesive or anything to hold it firmly in place?

Three issues not in video. 1. Definitely check for the wire retaining ring around the gasket which they don't mention in video. Has a 2-3 inch spring to snap ring back into place. Look for spring connection ends and start there to remove ring. Mine was a 1986 build. 2. New screws are not provided with part, older screws were too big for holes, had to widen the holes slightly with drill. BEFORE installing part, test the two screws to see if they will easily snug up to part, or you will have to widen. 3. The video shows the assembly EASILY sliding out left from behind gasket for easy access to three plugs. WRONG - my plug wires were zip tied/taped to the wire bundle which was zip tied/taped to the frame and could not access part easily. Had to take top off to access the plugs. Could probably cut the ties and tape and THEN it would easily pull out to the left like video, but by then you're able to manipulate the plugs just barely.

I had similar issues with mine: 1. I had the opposite issue, actually. Every video and guide showed the retaining wire around the gasket, and my WM did not have this wire. This was the only video that showed how to remove a gasket without the wire. For my WM, the rubber gasket was stuck to the metal rim behind it at parts due to 20 years of continuous usage. I was unsure if this was glue I needed to remove, or if I needed to get to the latch a different way until I saw this video. 2. Correct, the screw holes aren't exactly the same size on the new part. My holes for mine were just close enough in size to allow me to use the screw itself to tap the threads large enough without using a drill (just using a regular screwdriver). 3. This is the problem I had too, but I had just enough room to work with to snap in the connections without needing to snip off the zip-tie. It took about 5-10 minutes of work to actually connect it due to the tight working space.

My door wouldn't close after buzzing for about 5 months... SIMPLE FIX: I had this problem & solved after trying all the other fixes and inventing one. I first changed the lock assembly and the door strike. I also changed the Hinge (the door was loose and hanging low). I then adjusted the glass "skew" (I took the door off, then the outer ring, pushed the glass up then retightened on the outer ring). The door no longer sagged or wiggled on the hinge (make sure hinge is hooked into the tabs). Still the latch would not lock (probably the seal gasket is old and keeping the door from closing but that seemed like a pain to change). So, SIMPLE FIX: I took the latch off the door, made sure it went into the lock assembly - it did. Then I added 3 #5 rubber o-rings and 1 metal washer to the back side of the latch screws and re-attached the latch. That gave the latch enough extra length to by-pass the gasket pushback issue. Maybe the manufacture could just make the latch a little longer... No leaks so far, no more buzzing, and now it actually locks!

Sure looks easy, but the wires on my machine are so short I can't get the plugs in to the new part. You need baby-sized hands with manlike strength, and you can't even see what you're doing. I don't really want to pull on the wires to see how much further they'll come out. I've already pulled pretty hard on them and they haven't budged.

I had the same problem. I held the plugs with pliers while I negotiated them into the sockets on the assembly.

FYI... Two of the three plugs are designed to only go on in one direction. The third, bottom (blue) plug is the oddball.

Releasing the gasket is not so simple in every case! Mine had a wire retaining ring with a spring holding it tight. If you don't remove that, you will never get the gasket out without ruining it. Otherwise fine.
