I have the 1440nex and pioneer camera. Why did pioneer take away the backup assist lines and the option to turn it on or off for 2018?

I have AVIC-5201NEX and I dont see any option for backup camera. It also does not go to camera mode when I put the car in reverse. Do you know what might be the issue?

My backup camera works great. Except in the camera settings I don’t see the Parking Assist Guide option. I do se the Parking Assist Guide adjust, and I have been able to adjust the lines. However, I am having to manually turn on the parking lines every time I put the car in reverse. I have a avic-w8500nex. Any thoughts?

This is normal operation for the Pioneer AVIC-W8500NEX. Once you have set up the parking assist lines, if you want to see the lines, you need to switch them on each time. Recently installed a 8500NEX in my 2015 4runner. When using the forward facing camera the stupid message about reverse image is blocking the view of the road and makes the camera pretty much useless. I can see if Pioneer flashed the image for a few seconds and then removed it but no, it stays. Any way to get rid of the warning text?

What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? Pioneer receivers with backup camera input are designed to work with the Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera and not a forward facing camera. It sounds like you are trying to use a forward facing camera as your backup camera. I recommend to use a camera designed as a backup camera with your Pioneer receiver. So, if the MVH-2300NEX does not have the parking lines, can you tell me which units actually do? I just spent my weekend tearing my truck apart to put this unit and a camera in only to find out that a major selling point was not available as the other Pioneer video (which has now been taken down) said my unit would have. I'm pretty frustrated.

Pioneer receivers with 7 inch screens that include parking lines: AVH-2300NEX, AVH-2330NEX, AVH-4201NEX, AVH-4200NEX, AVIC-8201NEX, AVIC-7201NEX. One other option is to use a camera that has it's own parking lines. The parking lines will show up on the in dash receiver screen.

Thanks. I find the lines from a camera are pretty meaningless, which is why I liked the idea of the adjustable lines so much. Any reason why the MVH wouldn't have this when the AVH models do? Could they be added via firmware update? Also, any idea if the AVH fold-down screens have any clearance issues with the Metra 99-3305? Crutchfield seems to believe that the fold-down screen models will not fit.

I don't know why there are no parking lines on MVH models. I would not expect to see a firmware update to put the parking lines on these models. I have heard of some screen motorization clearance issues with that kit when installed in some vehicles. Not so in other vehicles. If you don't play CD's or DVD's much you might not have to worry about it. You might want to check with the people at Metra for some more detail on the kit and screen clearance.

Hi, I have e a avh 4201nex and I can't switch between the 2 cameras unless I put the camera in reverse. I would like to be able to turn on the rear camera to see while I'm towing buy like I said, only way to see through the rear view camera is by going into reverse.

You can switch on Camera 1 or Camera 2 at any time. The vehicle does not have to be in reverse. In the Camera Settings section, make sure Back up camera input is switched on, and 2nd camera input is switched on. Also in Camera Settings, make sure Camera View is switched on. This is shown at 1:20 in the video. Select Camera View from your source list. This is shown at 8:30 in the video. Touch the 1-2 button shown on the bottom right of the screen.

Deckerd Otto thanks for replying, 8 think my problem is that I'm getting power to the camera from the reverse wire it self, so I assume i should run a wire to an acc power and leave the purple white connected to the reverse lamp wire. Also do you know if other than the 4200nex has the detachable screen, I wanted the 8200 but when I bought it the guys over crutchfield told me the 4200 is the only one and now a guy over there told me he believes all of them have detachable faces. If you can't find Parking Assist in the settings menu of the AVH-X1750DVD, that product does not have Parking Assist Guidelines. I dont have 2 camera connected on my pioneer w8500nex I only have 1 backup camera how ever how do i engage the camera with out putting it into reverse ? All get is a black blank screen with the camera option 1>2 at the bottom right hand screen but nothing happens when u touch 1or2 ?

The Pioneer AVIC-W8500NEX can have two active camera inputs. Be sure to have your dedicated backup camera plugged into the Brown RCA Backup Camera Input on the back of the Pioneer AVIC-W8500NEX. If you choose to get a second camera, it will plug into the Yellow RCA Video Input also on the back of the in-dash receiver. In the camera settings menu, be sure the Camera View is switched on and the Backup Camera is on. Also in the settings menu, If you switch 2nd camera off, the 1-2 switch will go away from the camera view screen. From your question above, it sounds like you are using the vehicle's back up light to power up the camera when you put the vehicle in reverse. When you choose camera view from the home screen, you are seeing a black screen because the camera does not have power because the vehicle is not in reverse. The camera should have power when the vehicle is switched on. And the camera should power off when the vehicle is switched off. The purple/white wire is used to let the in-dash receiver know that the vehicle is in reverse and to open the backup camera window on the in-dash receiver. Do not connect the camera to the purple wire with white stripe.
