Great job explaining how to hook up my backup camera . I've searched 6 other KZbinrs and none explained it so clearly as you. Thanks so much . I started install and got stuck on the red wire near camera . And to NOT do what I also wrongly thought was correct , which was the reverse light to the red . You just saved me $90 , $100 , $150 . Those are quoted prices .

Okay so let me get this straight. I read though most of the comments to make sure it wasn’t already asked and didn’t see it but I’m guessing for the reverse camera to come on when I put the truck in reverse, I tap the red camera wire into the red on the head unit. The black to the negative on my battery and then run a new wire from the purple with a white stripe on the head unit back to the reverse light bulb and tap into that positive wire? And of course the rca goes into the brown rca jack

I just purchased a cheap backup camera that has a wider viewing angle and an easier manual adjustment of the camera angle. I have the Pioneer NEX2300 and I tried the new camera but could not get it to work. The old camera still works okay. The new camera has what they say is AHD1080p. Will this work with the Pioneer are will cutting the wire harness and getting CVBS be the way to go? Wish they would have put some other switching option other than cutting the wire harness, but I bought cheap! Also does the NEX2300 have the ability to use the video input for using a front facing camera? It has the receptacle for Video input (yellow) but not the pigtail for a second camera. I also don't have second camera in the settings menu.

I've got a license plate mount rear camera and it has lights on it. If I take the power wire to the accessory wire of the head unit so it has power when the unit is on, won't the lights on the rear camera always be on? IE: in wiring it the way you mention won't there be constant power to the rear camera?

First off you guys are legit .. I am challenged when it comes to electrical but after one of yur rescue 911 fixes .. Ive decided that I'm not totally doomed lol.. interior panels are far more frustrating as I'm disgusted how many clips n covers I've damaged as I dove into the deepest install that still could use Lil buttoning up but I wish I would of been a subscriber prior but you guys helped me at the end :) so thank you for being the shiz .. btw I own a 09 tts audi and removed factory deck ..bose amp and ran new wires to all mid n highs with aftermarket amp n pushing L7 with a rms fosgate 500 . 720 certified monoblock and coarse a new dbl din so now Bluetooth works with audio instead of just for calling like before and have a screen . Also installed rear camera n removed back up beeping and installed toggle for a shut off to deck just in case but I also added a 2nd battery :) Its so temperamental as if a connection isn't perfect my car goes wacko .. I have it to constant only as I think it's better that way so far as if it's not running and doors shut its constantly beeping at me and appears to drain battery probably cuz of hid lights . But regardless Sitting in car with stereo on without noises is nice. Is this a smart way or ?Sorry about novel.. last thing.. I have a note 10 plus.. mirror linking has been struggle as do I need a special adapter to plug into my soundstream vr651b.. so close to being complete after so much adversity.

Hey guys, what front/rear camera do you recommend for the 8200NEX unit, the Pioneer BC8, or the Pac UNO 1, or any other camera option? Thanks for all of the great info!
@aztotalestatesolutionsllc44637 жыл бұрын
I've been thinking about buying the AVH 4200NEX as I need two rear cameras, one for my SUV and the other for my camper. Just about every question I have had I was able to answer by watching your videos...great job!! One thing I can't find. While towing, I want to leave the camper rear camera on all of the time to use as a rear view "mirror" while driving. The question is, can I turn off the back up camera on the SUV so it won't come on or switch over when the camper camera is on. If the "always on" camper camera switches off when the SUV is put into reverse, the purpose while towing is defeated for me. Many thanks in advance!

Hi AZ Total Estate Solutions LLC...I too have a cargo trailer and I want to do the same thing as you. I have two ND-BC68 cameras, one mounted on the rear of the towing vehicle that I use to line up the trailer hitch ball, and the other is on the back of the cargo trailer. I mounted the second camera that came with my AVH-4201NEX on the back of the trailer. I want to view the trailer camera while I back up the trailer, BUT I do not want the tow vehicle's (hitch view ) camera to come on automatically when I put the vehicle in reverse. So.... even though I have not yet installed the new head unit, (I will tomorrow) my assumption is that I will choose to NOT use the purple/white striped wire. This way the head unit will NOT switch to either camera when I put the tow vehicle in reverse. I will simply choose the camera that I want to see while driving forward or reverse. This also solves a problem that I had with my previous Pioneer AVH-X2600BT unit where every stinkin time I put it in reverse the camera would come on,,, at night, the display was so bright I hated it. So,,,,, I will reiterate... I am not going to have the reverse "gear shift" automatically turn on any camera. I will choose if I want the camera on,,, and which one. I too was thinking that if I had the trailer connected and wanted to see the trailer's camera that the mere fact of having the vehicle in reverse would block my ability to CHOOSE the "other" camera. I think I have beaten a dead horse here,... but I believe that our choice to NOT use the purple/white wire is our best option. We can then choose what camera we want to see, regardless of whether we are driving forward or reverse. I hope this makes things clear.

Great video, but I have one question. I have the Pioneer NEX 4200 radio and a Radio Pro 4 adapter and trying to make sure I hook it up so the factory reverse camera works. I can't figure out where to connect the purple / white (i.e. "Reverse signal input") from the Pioneer to the Radio Pro 4. The Radio Pro 4 does have an unsued red / white cable ("Factory Reverse Camera Power") cable which does not match up to anything on the Pioneer. Should I simply connect the Pioneer purple / white cable to the Radio Pro red / white cable to get the camera to work? Or does the purple / white get joined to the main solid red cable? Thanks!

Regarding video, I would like to use my second camera inout for a wireless camera I can move around from the box of my truck for hooking the 5th wheel I cannot see... to the back of the RV when I am pulling it. Lots of wireless cam's on the market, but all come with monitors. Can you point me to something I could point to a dedicated receiver hooked to the camera input on the NEX without needing to rig up a separate (and clumsy) transmitter on the camera end?

Hello! Helping a friend with a head unit and backup cam install, and we got a little confused. Originally, we were going to tie the backup cam into the power for the backup lights. However, after watching this video, you say not to do that. So, we need to run a red and black wire from the backup cam up to the front dash, to the red and black wires there. Yes? Then, to control the headhunt so it comes on when in reverse, I splice a wire into the hot wire of the backup cam and run that to the the purple/white wire on the head unit? (The head unit is one of the newer Pioneer ones.) What gauge wire should we be running? The wire on the harness and what comes to power the camera seem to be 20 or 22, but the smallest stranded I've been able to find is 18.

Michael Sowell most of the front cameras we put in are not for dash cameras. They are for older customers that can't see the front of their cars and hit the poles. For rear camera power and AV side to back of car, the reverse light + and - goes in right reverse light or just + and other goes to metal ground. On other end of that cable facing forward of a car, there is a ACC +12v and ACC GND with a blue monitor test 12V wire. Are you saying that I should connect my ACC 12V to the reversing detection wire, and not using 12V source because other end has reversing light power. Please clarify. Seicane for Hyundai IX45. Then I have the maestro rr harness system with the ch1 accessory to Retain all of my 2014 jeep wrangler's features. Does the front camera have to ability to have the park assist lines also?
@FiveStarCarStereoInc7 жыл бұрын
+MetallicAH2O only if the camera you buy has them. They are not built into the radio like the rear ones

as you say my camera only comes on with the revers gear. I have nex 7201 had professional company put it in. How do I tell themI am sure its wired wrong by the way you explain it? I cant even adjust my back up assist lines with no video feed to do it, I keep putting it in reverse then back to park to adjust them and back to reverse for camera and lines and park then adjust assist lines repeat this process is annoying.

Why does the instructions say to install red wire to reverse light?
@ndelapaz5 жыл бұрын
What if you already had a camera installed and it went out and had to just replace the camera? While hooking it up I realized there was a blue wire on the new camera and not on the wires that were ran to the rear of the vehicle. I managed to get get the camera to work in the camera view setting but not when the vehicle is put into reverse like it worked before. The blue wire is not connected.

I installed the pioneer AVH 600nex and I can't find how to add parking lines on the pioneer camera . Am I missing something or this head unit doesn't have that feature?

Under camera settings, does a camera needs to be connected to view the extra set of menus. Currently all I see is Back Camera Input and Camera Polarity.

I see that you are using the 7200 NEX model, will everything in this video work the same as with the 8100 NEX,, if so I can not get my camera to turn unless it's in the reverse, I see the message that the video may be in reverse but I don't get any image

What do you have the power for your camera connected to?
@anthonymayers70348 жыл бұрын
+Five Star Car Stereo the guy said he connected it to the reverse lights He said he does it because having constant power burns out the camera Is that so??
@FiveStarCarStereoInc8 жыл бұрын
+Anthony Mayers maybe on older cameras, the new cameras don't have these problems. We do hundreds of cameras a year with no issues. We alway connect them to accessory power when we install them.
