Can you use fresh cutted shiitake pieces to mix them with pellet oak substrate directly, skiping the spawn bags?
@a-man22463 жыл бұрын
Rather late comment but I'll post it while we wait for the new vid: can you cover why you use smaller bags and a shelf system instead of hanging columnar bags? I do remember you talking about it once but I can't find where. Hanging bags intuitively sound better because: 1. Don't require shelves which cuts costs and reduces cleaning man-hours (bags could simply hang from a reinforced pipe going lengthwise across the room) 2. More exposed surface area per bag which should mean more production per flush (this is pure speculation since i haven't compared the two in practice) 3. Reduces the hassle of working with a lot of smaller blocks. I do get they're heavier but using a trolley makes this irrelevant

Breeding. Andrew currently has a fairly massive oyster mushroom breeding program that he's been running for the last couple years, and now he's starting to breed shiitake. Playing with what kind of new properties he can develop or improve on.

Very interesting video thanks. I am setting up a very small gig here in my home. I bought an 8 ft x 4 ft x 7 ft tent. The staging I am installing will allow about 50 blocks of the size you have on the video here. I am a little worried about air quality. The adverts for these grow tents show them being used inside, but usually in the pics there are plants rather than mushies growing. Here I see you using breathing apparatus when working. I have a good filter system flushing out of the window. Do you think it will be enough in your experience?
@Mossycreekmushroomsofficial3 жыл бұрын
You don't need filters, but you do need to duct the air from the tent outside of your home.
