"Stability control" is an understatement. VDIM is a very sophisticated system that controls brakes, throttle, electronic steering, and the RC Fs torque vectoring.

The pedal dance was not designed for customers it was designed for Diagnostic testing like putting the vehicle on a Dyno.. holding traction button for about 7 seconds will give you pretty much the same thing

Here’s the side note, •All 2004 and up Toyota and Lexus cars, with exception of hybrid models can be disabled with this procedures. They start using this system from 2004 Toyota Crown. •VDIM/VSC will turn back on every time you restart the car.

I never noticed a difference between the pedal dance and simply holding the TC Off button while stopped. I drove my IS 300 in the snow a few times, and it seemed to behave the same after pedal dance as the normal way of doing it.

Hmm interesting. So does stability still kick in if you hold the traction off? I own a 2015 rcf with no ediff. When in sport plus and “expert mode” traction is fully off(at least in as straight line) as I can just smash the limiter spinning the tires in 1st and 2nd and hold it till I blow the thing if I wanted. But stability kicks in if it thinks you are in trouble(like too much speed and steering angle if you drift). But if you hold past expert and turn it all off in any mode I’ve gone drifting and ive lost the back end whipping around on me with no stability kicking in. Luckily kept away from curbs on a few butt clinching situations. I didn’t notice any braking or throttle cuts trying to help in those instances.

To clarify, you probably don't need to do this in a regular RC or IS or GS. Just the F versions with the torque-vectoring diff. I tried the pedal dance in the snow with my IS, and also tried just holding the TC Off button, and I couldn't tell any difference.

You can do pedal dance to deactivate. Can you then do pedal dance to re-activate ?

You just cycle the car off and then on again, not sure if you can just hit the traction button and turn everything back on or not…

Probably works with GS F, since the GS and RC are very similar under the skin. It worked with my IS as well. No idea on the LC though.

On my IS300h, I just have to hold the traction control button down for 3 seconds, and it disables all the VSC systems, including traction control. Isn't that the same thing?

No it's not the same, the is models don't have as sophisticated of a traction control as the new F models (RCF and GSF, not ISF). I used to have a 2015 IS and yes for that car you just need to hold down the TCS button. I have a GSF now, when you hold the TCS down in the GSF it says the TCS is off, but it isn't. If you try and do a burnout or donut the TCS just kicks back in and doesn't let you break traction. If you want to do burnouts, donuts, etc you need to do the pedal dance to turn it completely off. I think it might have to do with the TVD, but I'm not sure because I know most RCFs don't have it.
