It's definitely a great daily drive. Most of its negatives (mainly the weight and transmission) are what make it a great commuter. The weight gives the suspension some compliance, and though it's firm and does respond well it's not harsh and doesn't wear you out. I've driven it 9 hours on the highway and I felt fine at the end of it. The transmission at low speed is very smooth, and driving it around normally it certainly feels like a traditional Lexus. The V8 is just great. Sounds good, and gets the car off the line quickly. For all the rhetoric about DCTs (which BMW dropped for a torque converter in the new M4, by the way) the car still gets to 60mph in 4.5 seconds and it shifts fast enough under load. I've never driven my car and thought "it needs more power" or "it needs faster shifts". So I'd say if you're looking at a standard RC F, view it from this mindset: Lexus first, performance second. If you do that, then you won't be disappointed. I certainly agree with AMD about the track edition though. It's just too expensive and the weight saving doesn't justify the extra cost. The brakes on the regular F are already expensive enough, and knowing how much the CCs cost to replace is, quite frankly, a deal-breaker.

@@mattyb.5628 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds in C&D tests. The weight is a non-issue as even an M2 these days weighs 3800+ lbs, which is how much the TE weighs. RCF's weight of 3902 lbs is due to the very rigid chassis that has a lot of reinforcements. Having been on the track many times, RCF is a phenomenal double-duty car. I have an RCF CF/TVD. Both on the streets and the track. Also, as my videos shows, it is very quick and fun.

@@mattyb.5628 not to mention, with the carbon bits, you can get all of it on a regular F without the track pack. The only downside is that they're bundled with other stuff in the carbon package, and that's $17k(!). I wish they broke out the carbon parts and BBS wheels separately like they did with blowing out the IS handling pack recently - I'd jump in line to trade my IS350 now for a ~$75k RC-F, but $91k is a tough pill to swallow.

I bought my 2015 RCF performance pack with Carbon roof and TVD in early 2019 at a great price and I can proudly say that I am still in love with it in 2023. This Car only needs some small mods like catback exhaust which I already installed and now it sounds amazing. Lightweight wheels got them, so other rotation mass reduction bits. I drive it year-round from -30 C to +40 C. No issues whatsoever. Cheap to maintain. You can DIY everything. I changed 15 cars before this and I can finally say that I have found my unicorn and it puts a smile on my face every day. I will never get rid of it. It still turns heads. Exterior styling still looks 2024 fresh. it is timeless. It is aging beautifully. I have no desire to switch to any other car. The more I drive more I appreciate it and the more I understand why they designed the powertrain the the way they did. It takes time to understand that and once you get it you love it. It feels super solid all the time. It is a Landcruiser of cars. Built like a tank. Never skips a beat with no weird noises. I had ISF before it and had BMWs as well. No desire to switch this car with anything on the market.

After 9 months of research, KZbin watching and test drives, I bought a used 2020, 13k mile, Atomic Silver RCF base model with red interior and the Torsen diff. I knew I’d be happy with my purchase, but after 3 months of ownership and 4,500 miles, I’m absolutely delighted with it! I recently took it on a 1500 mile trip and I was sad when it was over! It simply does everything well, with the surprise bonus of 28mpg on the highway. For me, the base RCF model is a way better choice over the track edition; as you very clearly pointed out in this video. There are only 3 minor features I would add or improve upon for the base model. 1. A little more exhaust note (easy to address with aftermarket cat-back offerings or a resonator delete) 2. A six speed manual (however I totally understand Lexus’ reasoning for going with an automatic but the 10 speed would be a better unit in this chassis) 3. Its heated seats are lukewarm at best. and finally, it should be 400 lbs lighter 🤣

@@FAUNASO bud there are documents showing it’s slower in certain instances remember the 10 years where not done for strictly performance. And it’s not my opinion it’s a data thing it’s a bi-product of their design iteration of the trans at temp; also I’m glad we agree the trans does overheat because it’s a known thing you can’t run them in Sport+ for extended periods or it will go into limp mode. The LC of course was not designed for track abuse.
@FAUNASO
@FAUNASO Жыл бұрын
@@RandenMontalvo I would love to see those docs myself because every mention of the LC trans puts its shifting times faster than the RC F. I know for a fact that the downshifting has a better logic and it's faster on the LC, I have put nearly 25k miles on a 2015 RC F and on a 2020 RC F TE and have driven the LC plenty of times. As for the trans cooler, that's obvious, if Lexus was to put it on the RC F as he implied then a cooler would have to be installed, just like the RC F has. In fact, Lexus already has a trans cooler available in Japan for the 24 LC's that can be retrofitted and the parts are available online. Ultimately not an issue unless you are buying an LC for hardcore tracking lol and even you might only get issues if you do 3+ extended laps as per the reports.

RCF is an amazing car that does not get the credit it deserves. The transmission is amazing if you drove it like you stole it in SPORT+ and MANUAL mode. It is only slow when you are puttering around on the streets. Have not driven the TE RCF, but the non-TE RCFs are already amazing cars that don't get enough credit especially how they have two personalities. One for the track and one for the road. I have driven a lot of F performance cars. ISF, RCF LSD, RCF TVD and LC500. Most recently, IS500. RCF strikes the best balance. It is the most aggressive out of all of these cars. ISF has a similar size as the RCF, but RCF is better in almost every way except it is heavier. However, on the track RCF feels the best.

As a former ISF owner I actually like and enjoyed Lexus' F cars, that's what drew me into their F models in the first place. I like the idea of high performance + simplicity and usability where any ordinary person can change their own oil without exotic tools required. Out of all cars I've owned over the years, I miss the ISF the most. If I ever get a chance at another F model again I would go back to the ISF. Literally the same engine and transmission as the RCF but in a lighter vehicle.

RCF engine is a completely different engine than the ISF engine other than the bottom end block. Everything else was redesigned for RCF. None of the parts are swappable. Higher compression, higher redline, bigger throttle body, lighter internals etc. It is a lot more rev happy and revs higher.The chassis, suspension, TVD etc, all were developed extensively from the ground up on the track. Being an owner of the IS platform and the RCF platform, the RCF platform is on a different level with more than double the rigidity. Besides, the RCF has 12% more power 472 HP vs 416 HP, which is why all things being equal RCF is faster both in a straight line or on the track. It is 10 years newer so it should be and it is. The RCF TE did a Nurburgring lap time of 7:48 seconds with a regular non-pro driver and with traffic. The compelling case I agree for ISF is that, you can get it for much cheaper in the used market. It can than be used it towards the mods and end up building everything to your liking.

Mine is a "22" RC F. The infotainment ain't so bad; Apple Car Play, Android Auto, (although its a wired connection) Cloud Connected Navigation on a screen with decent resolution and Mark Levinson Audio (835 Watts/17 speakers). Also the car has blind spot 24:11 24:1 24:11 monitoring, lane departure warning (with auto correction if turned-on), adaptive-cruise control, pedestrian detection (cross-warning on the rear) automated braking, remote start via the key-fob and Lexus app. On the other hand, I'm kind of pissed they removed the memory seats, and ambient lighting. In case folks don't realize _ what is old is new again. I rather have semi-analog gauges as opposed to a full length "universal screen" wherein you are dead in the water - without climate, radio and/or Navigation if it fails. Think "Singer Porsche" retro mods are becoming increasingly desirable. A modern car with some analog features/functionality is where it's at. Nothing ages a car more than display screens anyway. Are there things Lexus could do better -certainly. We have an BMW S58 ///M vehicle in the household so I can truly enjoy the contrast. Also, shift manually in the RCF in Sport + @ 7100 - 7200 RPM people don't realize there is a difference. And in closing "The Car Care Nut" didn't mention that the RC F also has oil and Transmission coolers if one desires to venture to the track. Note : the RC F can fit 2 adults' comfortably in the back seats that are shorter than 6ft. I am 6ft 3' and my teenager who is about 5ft "6" does not complain. In comparison you "Can Not" fit anyone in the back of an LC500, The LC500 has absolutely limited trunk space and cabin space, barely a cup holder. For those who could afford an LC500, but need some practicality can find it in the RC F. Admittedly, the Track Edition is overpriced, but the base RC F with options presents a viable option. Decent looks, Legendary V8, Reliable, Rare, and holds it value. In closing it's still faster than the LC500 on track and in a straight line with the Aisin 8 speed in comparison. Judge for yourself not based on the commentary of others. Just because they say so, doesn't mean it is - juss say'n "Mike Drop"!

As an owner of a 2015 Lexus RC F Performance Package who uses it as a DD, I can 100% agree with you, the price is not worth it new. While Lexus gate-keeps availability of OEM Track Edition parts with egregious pricing, the aftermarket support for these additions are readily available. Additionally, will assist to surpass the performance of an OEM Track Edition. I understand why people want to pay the price for it though even if I cannot relate to it. But to me, it makes more sense to get a non-TE, and actually make it track ready. The LC500 is a different segment where it is top tier GT car. There is a bit of performance available with the RC F that the LC cannot touch. Side note, independent studies have confirmed that the hood vent is functional, but not in a pass through that one would think. Also odd that he’s stating these as bolt on parts of course you can remove every part of a M4GTS and put them in a standard F M car but the water injection system so unsure what the point is with that. Being an owner of an RCF CF/TVD (MSRP $89K), RCF is totally worth every penny. Also, please keep in mind LC500 is a different car than the RCF. RCF is smaller, lighter, stiffer while LC500 is a GT car that is 400+ lbs more. You need to understand the transmission is amazing when you drive it on the race track full throttle in SPORT+ and MANUAL mode. Only when it is driven slow and sluggishly. TVD is an amazing piece of engineering that allows you to corner faster than with a plain LSD in the standard RCF. Makes the car feel so sharp and playful. It might not be best in class, but it is a great do-everything car. I know several RCF TE owners and they are happy with it. One RCF TE owner did a 7:48 lap time of Nurburgring as a non-pro, with traffic and on street tires. It actually is a very impressive feat. Can go to the track and run great lap times and still drive it on the streets. The high-revving V8 is also an absolute masterpiece to own.

I'd have the LC 500 over the RC F track edition, it's my favourite car, BUT I GET what the RC F track edition is all about, TBH, i don't think it's a valid to compare the two. Very much a horses for courses scenario. I drive an IS 350, I would love the RC F or LC 500 ANY DAY..and even though the LC is my favourite, people I know who have driven them tell me the same thing, the RC is a more practical car, the size for starters is one thing, but the LC is pretty much an exotic car that draws lots of attention and for an everyday driver can be 'too much car'. The RC/RCF is a much more normal car you can enjoy everyday. As for the LC 500 being better than the RC F Track Edition in "every way", somehow I think as a track car (as the name suggests) the RC F track edition will be quite a bit better in that respect. For some people, the motorsport look, feel & mission of the RC F is more attractive proposition than the luxo look of the LC. PS on the 'old technology' being a 'drawback' As A Lexus owner, I LOVE the 'old schoolness' of the RC and IS ranges. I'm 50, and for me, the lack of all the silly tech is the APPEAL of this car! I don't need a giant 14 inch monitor and the car beeping and gonging everytime it enters a new speed zone, yuck!. This is indeed a Japense muscle car, the RC F is Japan's Ford MUSTANG..but with really really good build quality and attention to detail. I don't care if an NX can park itself and can keep you centred in a lane with constant corrections of the steering wheel. The RC F is amied at people like ME and in that it is way better than a BMW with two Ipad screens (which by the way, like to break and cost a fortune to replace).

The LC could not do that - because it just wasn‘t engineered for that, but the RCF yes. I agree on the price, which is just too high. But other Manufacturers do the same mistakes too, just look at the Mercedes SL63. I would opt for a used Track Edition, in my humble opinion.

To 99% of people who see it on the street, this car looks like it was modded with Autozone parts. The wing is so ridiculous, it would make people think the brake calipers are the fake shells that attach to the real ones to give the illusion of large fixed calipers for high performance. All of the things that are on this should have just been stand alone options on the RCF. Most people will never track it and just crawl in city traffic or set the cruise on the interstate for long trips. All that said, you have to appreciate Toyota for still producing this car when the market is so limited. For the same money, the better car was a BMW M4 before they went and ruined the styling in 2021. People who buy these new do not really keep them after the warranty had ended so the additional repairs a BMW needs are not a factor.

I’m sorry this was tough to watch. Felt like a non car enthusiast wrote it. Tons of mistakes and inaccuracies. Then to top of it off instead of celebrating a rare V-8 coupe you find any way to diss it. Meanwhile you adore a fancy Civic Integra. Make it make sense. A few things 1. Well you can’t consider the RC F Track Edition heavy when a smaller M2 outweighs it. 2. The wing was influenced by the Lexus Racing GT3 car as the enhancements. You just call it boy racer. 3. Losing 170-180 lbs in any car is absolutely mind blowing. Very hard to do. This should be celebrated not minimized 4. The carbon ceramic brakes are a big part of the weight loss. No they don’t have dust, carbon ceramics don’t. They are amazing around town and on track. I wish my LC had them. 5. Some people want rarity. People will pay down that. 50 made most years. That incognito one you have is even rarer. 6. Totally agree on the transmission. The 10 speed is far superior and I do wish the Track Edition had it. 7. You keep mentioning an engine update the RC F never got one. The engine is rated to the IS F, it’s 70% new. 8. A LSD was chosen over TVD because of weight. I’ve held TVD in my hands it js HEAVY. 9. The RC F Track Edition has a huge aftermarket but the ECU being locked means mostly bolt ons. Reviews like this help push people toward crossovers. We should applaud the effort even if it’s not perfect Perspective is everything.

Take into account that this is still on a old chassis,while even if modified, it clearly shows its not doing much for how much they're asking for. Sure, cars like the m2 are heavier,but in that cars case, it handles far better and punches over its weight when seen at tracks and has more hp helping it which gives it a strong advantage while being 40k less new along with having the other 3-5 cars sharing the same engine running a much stronger aftermarket than all the F cars combined. There have even been comparisons with the track being compared to cars like the supra or the RS3 being really close in track times and etc. Even with perspective and what they've done to it, they honestly haven't done too much improvement other than weight reduction, but even then, it's telling if the car can't be those without the majority of what the track edition has for half the price or a bit more, that's very telling to those who are spending that kind of money on a car that barely outrun cars that are half the price of it keeping up with it with ease for a "track edition".

@@carboydorifutoparty3976 I am not at all saying it’s the best car or the price isn’t high. What I am saying is Lexus of all companies sells two coupes one of them is this one and then they have the gall to drop weight, make it handle better and be slightly faster. I thought we all liked that lol. And again we have to take the rarity factor into consideration. I’m driving an electric surge matte satin Fuji now. 50 made. It’s the only one at any car even or even Costco lol. That counts for something. You could tell he didn’t like the car wasn’t going to like the car and ended up with a review where the car moved 3 feet. Then the car will be canceled and we have one less coupe to enjoy. Again it’s about a bit of perspective and maybe i’m too much of an enthusiast. We just lost the NSX and Q60.

Agreed with everything except the LSD vs TVD. Different experience for different people. I tested only the base LSD RCF and not the TE LSD. LSD might be working much better with the TE. Objectively, on the non-TE RCF TVD is better in every way than the LSD RCF. I drove both extensively on the race track and LSD felt "dumb" and too slow to react to the traction loss. I could even feel "in-lift" (meaning, the inner tire is spinning faster) while TVD locked very quickly with the rear reacting so much faster to inputs. Did not like the Torsen at least in how it was working in the regular RCF. Not locking up in time causing some initial nose going wide and then abruptly locking up resulting in unpredictable oversteer. The TVD actually felt very natural and kept the car the most neutral. The car simply reacted a lot faster to your inputs when I entered the turn. The nose would turn with a lot more eagerness and then you could kick the tail out a lot more easily. Anyway, TVD works in lock step with the steering and throttle while the Torsen does not.

@@rogermahajan7586 yea I can’t agree with that I would say thank god you have the option to not get TVD had they not have I would’ve never bought the car. I think Lexus engineers also realized it’s unjustified weight / dynamics and now have removed it from The carbon package and now actually have even further enhanced the Torsen in the new Japan a track editions. I’m sorry but the TVD is not the move and I think it’s going to die with this car and was a good reason it wasn’t in the LC and anything going forward not even the TEs. The engineers said it best for the best track experience Torsen is the way in this car. The penalty of the TVD and driving characteristics are just not worth it unless doing a AMCI test lol and probably why it’s kinda being fazed out of existence. I’m happy some have the option for their liking but I think the RCF is a lesser car to experience with a TVD in terms of track experience and one of the oddest experiences I’m glad I passed on. BMW got torque vectoring right but it was horrific in the F but to each their own hard pass for me good sir.

@@RandenMontalvo You are in the extreme minority as everyone. I agree, the TE probably is fine with an LSD since it is dealing with less mass. I know everyone who drove in the session had lavish praises for how amazing TVD feels and it makes the car feel so sharp and responsive. How could that be a bad thing? I drove both and can attest to that. TVD was designed for faster turning speeds and it does that extremely well. You could justify weight or whatever, but at the end of the day it does an amazing job making a 3900+ lbs car feel so responsive and like a smaller and lighter car. That is a win in my book. There is no argument there. Subjectively, we can disagree on which one feels better and like I said above, everyone has a different preference. I guess, by the sounds of it, as you said you are biased when you said it makes RCF a lesser car. However, TVD is superior in just every way metric wise. Again, I am not talking 'feel'. It does everything better objectively than the LSD. Locks up faster, less understeer and the tail I felt responds faster to steering input making the whole car feel so sharp and I am not biased since I don't have a dog one way or the other unlike yourself.

@@rogermahajan7586 first I am a minority so not something oddly profound.. now for my opinion rant; lord help me with this one ….how am I trying to “justify” a LSD in my TE when I avoided saving 30k and could’ve just bought a TVD RCF 😂😂 I mean logic FAIL there brethren. Had the TE/Fuji had a TVD i wouldn’t have bought it. Unsure what’s your logic is there. May want to just stop there like i said Lexus designed the TE without one and I for one get it and understand after driving both why they did so beyond weight. It’s just not as good experience driving it. Dare I say it’s just an odd experience. I think the TVD is a bust and it’s a non factor and that’s my opinion. There is a reason it’s being fazed out again. If you enjoy your car with it that’s cool rock out but the highest end version of this car has an improved Torsen and the LC avoided the TVD completely and it’s a sign that Lexus has moved on from it. If you enjoy yours rock on. Obviously you spend your money and I spent mine. Driven many many cars with Torque Vectoring and the TVD in the F was the most oddly behaving diff i have ever experienced in a car overall in the RCF. That’s my experience and I’m not trying to convince you I’m telling you it is what it is period the end for my experience. Not trying to be an ass but the fastest version of the RCF around a track doesn’t have a TVD anymore that is a fact. Peace & Love good sir and a bottle of hair grease. 🤙🏽

@@rogermahajan7586 Lexus has discontinued the TVD officially and now have revised a new Torsen in Japan for both the RCF Emotion/Enthu and LC Edge editions. It seems you are in the minority my friend. The engineers stated the TVD didn't fit the character of the car from a performance perspective. Thus it was canned my friend. This is also why it wasnt on the LC500. It's just an attempt at something cool conceptually but its weight negated its benefits and eventually people kinda forgot about its existence to the point where it was removed by the engineers themselves. One of the reasons why the fastest RCF around the N ring is a Track Edition with a Torsen. Lexus made the right decision to discontinue it. I was not alone in how unpredictable the car drove in a turn with a TVD vs the mechanical feel of the Torsen. Lexus was smart.

The track edition is just not worth it. I would rather have the regular RC F with the performance/carbon package over the track edition. You get heated/cooled seats that are all leather and more durable. With the money saved you can add intake, headers, and exhaust. While the spoiler on the track edition is beautifully done, especially the F logo, it's way over done to me. For those tracking the car all the time, then it makes sense. For the street use I would be using it for, it will just attract attention and unfortunately the RC F doesn't have the power to back up that spoiler on the street. Plus, the retractable carbon fiber spoiler looks awesome. The interior is a nice mix of some modern with old school, but it looks great. The 2-tone black with red accents looks amazing, the seats look amazing, I'm sure the quality is all there. As for the LC 500...that's just a gorgeous car inside and out. Why look at the RC F instead? It is lighter by about 400 lbs, should be livelier as far as handling, and has an oil cooler and transmission cooler. It's a shame Lexus didn't get the RC F to around 3600 lbs and LC 500 to 3800 lbs.

You sounded quite clueless saying "LC500 is better in every way" Ahh NO! They are apples to oranges since LC500 is a pure GT car. RCF is a proper performance car. Big difference. LC500 does not like the track at all. RCF annihilates the LC500 in a straight line race. You want to see a video of an RCF putting bus lengths on the LC500? Not even close. LC500 is a 4500 lbs GT car with a soft suspension and without the hardware on the race track. RCF weighs 400+ lbs less with a stiffer chassis, more cooling, more aggressive suspension and a much better power to weight ratio since it is a much smaller and lighter car.

Sweet ride. If these cars weren't over $65k(base) USD I would probably consider one - I rather a manual supra🙂. I don't think service is difficult on that engine, but the oil filter sitting right on top of the engine would have been sweeter(less mess since it drains, too). Accessing filters under the car can be a huge pain if you don't have a hoist or quickjacks. As far as oil changes go, I really appreciate top mount oil filters. Edit: OEM $15000 brakes on a -$65-$70k- $100k car?!?! What the heck was Toyota thinking??

Spot on - I had Lexus RC200t (RC300), RC300h and later RC-F. I hated both hybrid and turbo, but I loved RC-F for the engine mainly, but technology was VERY old. That is exact comparison I made as you "if you get into same year NX, which was the car that costed slighly less than the same year as RC (in UK I think exactly £1000 less, like for like, but about £1000 more than IS), then you have a lot more technology, you get wireless phone carger, you can get optional panoramic roof, you could get optional 360 degree camera and even as standard just many more options"... why RC was so neglected by Lexus I don't know. It was really sub-part on technology compared even to other Lexus nevermind other cars. As well even compared to Lexus IS I found one surprising omission! On RC, including RC-F you don't get pasenger memory seats! This is just bizarre, Lexus IS300h F-Sport has it, even older 2006 IS250 has it, 2005 GS300 has it, 2009 IS-C has it... as long as car has memory seats it always comes for both driver and pasenger, RC or RC-F does not get it, so even if you got for RC-F or any other RC with memory seats it is only the driver that has memory option?! And this is actually an issue, it would be way less of an issue in IS, where you have 4 doors, but on RC you have to fold front seats to let the pasengers in, now if you put the seat back before turning the engine, it will return to last position, but if you turn off the engine, then it returns to sort of "middle" position and that is just annoying. For the coupe where the seat is always moved the memory setting is must even for pasenger, but RC-F or other RCs don't have it (I am not 100% certain about face-lift, but pre-face lift definatelly didn't have it)... I know I am nit-picking, but WHY? Why car that is £1000 more expensive than NX (in case of RC300h vs. NX300h) has mush less standard and much much less optional kit?! It almost seems like Lexus didn't care much for RC... ... and here you nailed it again, LC500 is just so much better car, interior is totally different level, everything is totally different level... why would anyone have RC-F, especially track edition when they can have LC500?! Now LC500 also has issue, like the little hatch instead of boot and in terms of interior space it is not much better, but apart of that itis next level! That the last new Lexus car I was considering, I wanted to update my RC-F to LC500 back in 2020, pandemic had just started, LCs were selling at discount and I tought I will PX it, but Lexus kind of insulted me with their offer on RC-F, basically if I were to buy LC500 I could get one for as low as £48,000, that was 1 years old car with 6000 miles on it (we talking in UK)... my RC-F was about the same price, few years older, but only 20,000 miles and it coudl sell easily for £42,000 and they kind of agree on overall pricing, so I thought they would take their cut, I pay maybe £10,000 and I upgrade... nope... somehow they worked it out that I need to pay £27,000 to get the LC500!!! And I am like "sorry guys this does not compute! so if my car is £42,000 to buy (not to sell), so let's say you can value it at £35,000 maybe, low but fair... then that put's your LC500 at £62,000!!! despite all of them selling well under £60,000, and many under £50,000?!. We could not see it trought so I abandoned it and sold my RC-F privatelly in 2021 for £48,000, because the prices moved-up, I sold it for more than I bought it. But obviously by that time LC500 was £60,000+ as well. Anyhow, that is besides the point - point is there is no comparison between LC500 and RC-F, LC500 is just so much better and Track edition costing same as LC500 just makes no sense!

RC F is a real F car, that means much more durable and performance oriented with GT capabilities. LC is a pure GT only :-) You have a valid point on price though. But it is not comparable, I will destroy the LC even on a public road (cooling of the transmission and brakes for example and it is 300kg heavier). Great cars both. Used LC500 is the best deal for a GT there ever was in the history of the world. But again, you do not seeing the difference and reason does not mean there is not any for some special customers users drivers. Real F is a real F.
@lp9280
@lp9280 Жыл бұрын
@@ghostridertom Yeah I guess that is fair, it is not that I don't see the difference, it is more that I don't need it to go on the track, I had RC-F and guess how many times I were on the track? Yes... in 2 years of ownership 0 times, and as for how many RC-F owners uses them for track... not many. For me both LC and RC-F are just GT cars and they are great for being GT cars. That doesn't mean you wrong - I agree you can strip RC-F out, rip the interior, sound insulation all the unnecessary trims and covers, put bucket seat in it, roll cage, make it lighter and go racing... you can't do the same in LC. But as they are sold from Lexus, I consider them both too heavy for racing and thus GT cars... and LC is better GT car than RC-F. So this is matter of perspective really - for me who is not planning to take car on track, there is no reason behind RC-F or RC-F TE and LC seems like better deal... on other hand if I would like to take RC on track then I am very unlikely to get TE either... I would simply buy oldest, most beaten-up RC-F, maybe even salvaged one, strip it and make track car out of it. Recently one such RC-F sold for £15,000 on Copart, small frontal damage, but airbags and hood hinges exploded. £15,000 because it would take a lot of money to fix it properly, but if one is making track car then replacing air bags, ripped interior etc. does not matter, basically it is almost better, part of stripping is already done for you!

Hell yes, I would trade up in a heart beat. I own the first Gen performance Carbon and it’s never failed me in any situation. That being said I could buy a Base GT500 at the same price or less for some of the base variants compared to a TE RCF. Love the 8 speed for the tall gears but the 10 would be nice. Easy to maintain and the best purchase I’ve ever made. Great video.

AA80E Is a fantastic transmission. You just don't know how to drive it. Try to put it in Sport S+, Manual, VDIM Expert mode + TVD Track mode (if you have TVD) and tell me how it is slow. LC 10 spd Aisin won't fit in RC F, LC is an extremely heavy car. RC F is a true Track ready car. On the front, either side it has an engine oil cooler, and a transmission cooler. This beast will never heat up no matter how many laps you run. On the LC 500 SportS+ it cannot handle the spirited driving forget lapping it, which is why LC F was canned. Also RC F GT3 already wins races with 5.2L version with Transaxle Sequential Trans, no use in taking even heavy car and try to make a Racing car. Eco Mode is bad ? its Atkinson cycle mode and keeps the Luxury GT Cruiser experience applies to LC, GS F, IS 500, IS F, RC F. it's a fantastic thing. Infotainment is perfect, CD Player with FLAC files what not to like. Older RC F (2022 and below) used its own dash which was solid over this IS dash downgrade. Hood vent has a cover to protect from rain, it is functional. The entire chassis is bespoke and it's far more special than LC, as RC F is based off IS Coupe center, GS front end, IS rear with all structural improvements making it rigid chassis. No matter what this thing wont beat an M4 or M3. It's made for the spirit of F as said by Yaguchi san who was the creator of F at Lexus with IS F. He retired in 2020 which is why Lexus downgraded it now. The RC F TVD is super bespoke and very unique in the automotive industry. Only GSF has it still RC F one has different gear ratio and made. And it's reliable too, sadly Lexus axed it from 2023+, and Track Edition is not really worth the cash 100K for Carbon hood + Ti Exhaust + Carbon Ceramic brakes + CF Spoiler. Carbon package is already too expensive from base RC F Premium package on top of that, you pay 20K extra & you lose interior comfort luxury features too, its clearly a collector's car. However RC F is hated by Lexus so they removed a lot of features from it - TVD, Engine bracing, Driver memory etc. It's now on its last legs. One of the greatest coupe's ever made, the Carbon Fiber is not like BMW or Porsche which rots and bubbles, this is reliable and same used on LFA. It's my dream car. LC 500 is not my dream car anymore, impractical, too heavy, too exotic, massive attention magnet and too expensive to maintain for lesser performance and less race inspired. Its for looks and GT class with luxury on top of a great engine experience, RC F wins my heart.

I used to own an ISF, and would definitely take an LC500 over this. 1 important note: the LC500 has a 21.7 gallon fuel tank. The RCF only has a 17.4 gallon tank (same size as my ISF). These cars are thirsty as hell, and on long trips those extra 4.2 gallons make all the difference. I had range anxiety in my ISF (I prefer to stay on the road as long as possible)

The reason for the hood being blocked off is because even though its a track edition, most people will be dailying these and if it sits in place while it rains, water will gather up and go into the hood.

It’s not blocked off. There is a drain hole. Also, it’s easily removable as it uses reusable plastic rivets. I track mine & remove it & the plastic top engine cover for better cooling.
