Lark hi yeah lots of comments about the same thing, I think I need to revisit this video and do it again now I’m a bit better at KZbin lol. So, the m50 doesn’t have to be put into manual mode to get rid of the AF square? Seems that no matter how many times I pressed the info button I couldn’t get rid of it. Had to go to manual focus. Also, I have a workaround with the eos utility but this is the only workaround to keep the camera display from going to sleep which shuts off the stream. I’m using a blackmagic web presenter to interface with the camera but maybe the Elgato is doing that for you? Keeping camera awake? I’m sure you are going to get these comments here because I’ve only seen one KZbin video that addressed the sleep issue.
@ZanderRound5 жыл бұрын
Ah ok you can disable auto power off in the settings and also change the display off time in the power settings on the m50. I've had no issues using the elgato camlink with the camera turning off, I also use a battery adapter that's plugged into the mains. Manuel focus is needed too.
@GregSummersMusic5 жыл бұрын
@@ZanderRound the highest for display off is 30 min so you cannot completely disable it and once the display timer activates, the feed is gone. Lol I was just watching THINK media saying M50ii got an advantage over m50i cuz it can do clean live stream. Guess they didn't watch your vid. Thanks for the info! Good luck with growing your channel!

There is a red recording dot in the upper side of the screen. Plus, it will stop after 30 minutes.

Mine just times out and freezes every 30 min on stream. Is there a way to keep it going longer?
@ZanderRound5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the canon has a 30 min record limit all I do is set a alarm close to 30 mins and restart it the best I can without people noticing 👍

Zander Round What if the cameras simply shooting video and not recording, will it still timeout? I need a clean HDMI out to go into a tri-caster. The tri-caster will do the recording. Thanks

@@tonebaxter yeah It has a 30 minute record limit unfortunately

Download Canon Utilities 3, open the app, connect a high bandwidth USB 3.0 cable to your M50 then connect the micro HDMI cable. Open your streaming or recording software and have fun. Don't close the app!!! Greets from Germany

Great video. Thanks. Unfortunately, I need auto focus because of the set-up, so I have to use a USB link through Ecamm, which removed the info automatically and allows auto focus without the box. You'd really think, these days, that this sort of crap wouldn't be beyond the wit of man! Thanks again, anyway.

So you don't get a clean hdmi output when auto focus is on, you still get that square on your face. It sucks! I don't want that square. I hope Canon sends an update to get rid of it
@ZanderRound4 жыл бұрын
No you have to have auto focus off to get rid of the square unfortunately

Zander Round which makes my point: Canon D50 doesn’t have a TOTAL clean HDMI. Almost is not an option to us who live stream.

I bet somebody already said this, but if you are streaming using OBS, the easiest thing to do is to download the EOS software from Canon and then plug in through USB. Then you can use the autofocus and you don't see the square and you also don't have to spend the money on a digital adapter. If you use a GoPro this isn't an issue--plug in through the digital adapter and you're good to go.

The reason to do this is quality. That USB link takes the quality wayyyy down to webcam quality. Fine for a meeting, but it's NOT the same as the method here as far as results.
