The buddy bounce back works, but you had to already hit the ball in the target circle for it to count as a modifier.

Yes, I wanted to point this out myself. If you would throw an excellent, but it's invalid because the mon dodges it, but your buddy bounces it back to it, only then you get an excellent throw.

Some times I’ve definitely had what would be excellent throws get bounced back and be excellent, but I’ve also had complete fails become excellent.

The buddy bounce always hits the same spot as you threw. So if you hit excellent, it hits it too. If you dont, it never does it either

I know for a fact..when the buddy catch feature first started…it did an excellent throw almost every time. It certainly doesn’t now, though.

The buddy only bounces to the place where you throw the ball, if it was inside excelent, you got a buddy help with excelent, if you miss excelent than the buddy Will give you great, nice ir nothing, based on where you hit the circle [4:40 timer]

Bro, why are you always late to deliver the news? If I'm not mistaken, Niantic did mention this was a feature and was announced almost a month ago?? Maybe. Regardless, TrainerTips already have a video on this feature and the critical catch is only for wild spawns according to Niantic. Unfortunately, it doesn't work on raids, although I'm not sure about raids.

I know how it works. When you get a special throw like nice, great or excellent u dont get it. But when you hit it on the edge of the circle and still get the special throw thing u get a critical catch. Try it for yourselves.

Well, I just caught 2 pokemon in a row and had one of these shake once and caught throws and while I was trying to hit an excellent, none were even nice throws and I still got the animation of catching within 1 shake

It'd be better if it said Perfect! when you get the smallest excellent throw but I'll take what I can get. On a related note, I encountered a galarian moltres and tried to do this only to miss horribly, it then not only didn't run but the next bad throw got me the 1% critical capture.

It can work on a tier 5 raids, you need to use a golden razz berry instead of nanab berry. I had made like 1 or 2 critical catch doing a tier 5 raid.

This method is confirmed by myself and a lot of others to not work with premier balls. If you do get a critical catch on a raid pokémon it was only that random critical catch without this method.

@@antson03yeah, definitely doesn’t work with T-5 raid boss. Tested out myself on Landorus, three times where I hit smallest circle all burst out in one shake - player since 2016 and have been throwing excellents since they scaled the excellent throw XP

All my buddies think I'm crazy for this but other than my Golden Razz I save all of my Pink Nanabs & when I go to catch my raid Encounters (even Legendarys) 80% of my throws I'll use the bananas. I almost always catch the mon using the nanabs, rarely do I lose one.

Congrats on your work here and I done this test myself using an Ultra Ball on a Galar bird and I was lucky to get it. I still try it out on pokemon but some good catches, others not times not so much. But thanks again for theses pokemon catching tips.

My experience with Excellent throws is that you have the least chance possible to catch the pokeon out of all "special type" throws UNLESS you get the smallest for the instant catch.

I'm pretty sure its not a glitch, this is just a theory but I think the game is just programmed to increase your chance of getting a critical catch when you hit an excellent with a smaller circle so its practically guaranteed if you make your circle small enough. However, again, this is just a theory.

Every throw has a very very small chance to be critical. Hitting the smallest circle is just a guranteed critical (except for 5star and so on)

No, hitting the smallest circle possible is literally a guaranteed critical catch. I’ve gotten so many of them by doing it. Also from what I’ve understood there is no increased chance of a crit catch otherwise, it’s always 1/500 chance if you don’t hit the smallest circle.

i usually try throwing excellents for the exp too, don't get me wrong i'm not flaming, but you seem like you usually don't do that 😁 understandably so, you get your exp in other ways ... anyway, my point is that i throw a LOT of excellents and crit catch is not 100%, it just has a higher chance of happening on excellent throws 😅

No it is literally 100% if you hit the smallest possible circle, not just an excellent throw. So if you think you hit the smallest possible circle and you didn’t get a critical catch, you didn’t hit the smallest possible circle. Alao what Imve read is a random critical catch is like 1/500 chance, so if you got one without the smallest circle it was just random.
