Hi there Bastav, thanks for your comment! Unfortunately you will need to hold a permanent residency permit before you may apply to obtain your firearm licence. The law does technically make provision for foreign nationals, however it has been years since SAPS have actually granted such licences.

Hi there Fulu, sorry for the delayed reply. The Competency application form asks if you have experienced any mental health issues within the past 5 years. People's situations and conditions change, so you will be able to apply for competency after a period of 5 years, if you experienced severe mental health problems.

Hi there,hope u good. If I may suggest, could u do a video of the Glock 43x after market mags? Not the shield 15 round mags. They made that mag 3 times. Now there is a PSA 15 round mag that's pushing the limits.

@@gunlicence yes man there was such a fuss abt the shield arms 15 round mag. But clearly the fuss was abt the fact that it takes 15 rounds, not the quality. They had gen 1,2,& 3 in it. But the guys in the states going rockers over that PSA mag and it's metal but the front is polymer so u don't have to change a mag release

Hey Brenlee, thanks for your comment! So glad that you are a fan of EDC for the EDG and their awesome content. The law states that you need an SABS safe to be mounted to a wall or floor with M10 Rawl bolts. You only require the safe before completing the 3rd step, which is submitting your application for the firearm licence.

Thanks for your question! Its great to hear that you intend on settling in SA. SAPS are allocated 90 days to process a competency and another 90 days to process a licence. In short, including all 3 steps of the process, you can expect to wait around 7 months, although there is no science behind the police and we are seeing clients waiting as little as 2 months for the whole process currently.

Hi there Revaak, thanks for your comment😁 SAPS have 90 (working) days to finalise an application, by law. Sometimes this is a bit longer, or shorter. You can most certainly take possession of your firearm with a stamped and signed printout from your DFO.

Thanks for your comment! Without dedicated status, there is a limit of 4 firearms. One for Self defence 3 for section 15 (hunting/sporting) With dedicated status, the limit falls away and you can license as many guns as you can motivate. Currently our record sits at over 200 guns successfully licensed for 1 client.

Hi there Jake, thanks for your comment. It is indeed a bureaucratic system. Unfortunately these are the rules we need to follow in order to receive the benefits that firearm ownership offer. Criminals don't go through this process, and therefore do not enjoy the legal benefits enjoyed by us, law abiding citizens.

I get what your saying. Here, let me put this into perspective. We (the good gun owners) go through the legal process so when we do need to use the gun for self defense it is legal. The criminals do not go through the legal system and even in a righteous self defence shooting be sentence to jail for having an unlicensed firearm. Plus, Would we be any better than the criminals that threaten our lives if we stoop down to their level in obtaining a firearm? Short answer, I think not.
