As a person who got up at 5AM to buy a house when a new ward opened before they implemented the lottery, then happened to luck into an available medium Shirogane plot to transfer into sometime later on (also before lottery implementation)... can confirm, this is the "I got a house I can be happy with" dance. Mega grats, Jesse ^_^ It's about damn time, as Lizzo would say.

It still blows my mind that a game and community as wholesome and uplifting as FFXIV implements a housing system that seems designed to disappoint the largest possible percentage of participants every ten days. I’m happy you finally got one but I really hope they improve this system so more than just the luckiest players can participate in a major endgame activity.

2 things need to happen: 1) fc bids should just be limited to 1 bid representing that fc, it’s unfair for smaller fcs, etc. 2) we should not see how many other bidders are on that plot. Bid on a plot cuz you like it, not cuz it has 0.

I had that same moment. There was like already 80 people on the house when I placed my bid and most were FC people trying to get their ideal FC house. At least 3 different FCs all bid on that plot. My friend messaged me at work asking "what number was your bid for your house?" and I answered "82 I think" and she sent me the screenshot showing 82 was the winning bid and I was just SO EXCITED and did a dance at work over how happy I was and when I got home there was actually several people at the plot to offer their congratulations on having won the house.

I was a mod when the bidding system was implemented. Unless they changed it, It isn't fully random. Personal housing plots will actually weigh certain bids higher than others. If multiple members of the same FC all bid on the same personal plot, their bids get weighed at a lower probability, so that potato actually increased you chances of winning.

Imagine that they put in an algorythm that lumps all the fc mates bid into so all fcs have equal chance to win and to allow budding fc's to actually get a house and not be out bid by sheer numbers.

I got my first house, a small plot, during the old housing savage. Spent two full days logged in hitting the button but I managed to get it in the end. Then came the new system and some plots opened up and I thought to myself "why not?" I had the gil and told myself I would be happy with a med plot in the same part of the world as my small had been. Lost three times. Tried in three areas that weren't were I had my small. Lost two of them before getting lucky with my med Ishgard plot. Only to get a little teasing comment about my formerly Ul'dah house's look. Then spend about half an hour fixing up the outside before spending about two hours on the inside. Was it annoying to lose so many times? Yes, But that moment when you win is just incredible. Congrats to all who've won their bids and welcome home.

I had a situation where I was trying to help my friends FC get their guild house, they had spent a literal week on this plot clicking endlessly for hours and had asked me if I could sit there and bid on the land. I sat there for an hour just doing some work and reading, checking every 20 minutes. It was super early in the morning and no one was around. So at the hour mark I click again and I see that it's available for purchase. My friends were so pissed but so happy that I helped out xD

Dude congrats! I’ve never seen a large with less than 30 bids. They could be on a landfill and people would still bid. Granted, I’ve heard a lot of complaints about the furniture cap being way too low for LG in comparison to the others, I think they’re all too low lol

Hey. Beats standing around all day... spamming the buy-button on an empty plot... just to have a chance... It has issues, but it gives actual players a chance to interact with the housing system (that also has a lot of problems with it) instead of relegating all the housing spots to only the most dedicated of players, and bots.

So glad I was able to get my house and my FC house before the change to bids. It was the hard way, waking up crazy early and spamming login to literally make mad dashes to the Plot you scouted to try to get it. There were even ppl that try to stop you by posting up at the plot and spamming players with trade requests which will pull you out of the purchase menu.

I felt this in my core. When I finally was able to get an FC house I had to make spreadsheets tracking. I wrote down every single available plot and I went and checked every one every single day. Till it was ready to be purchased. We only had 3 members in our fc and I had one extra alt that I could use to bid. So only 4 bids on our plot. But sure as hell no one else bid and we got it. It was stressful.

When the additional wards were added I found a medium with 0 bids. Just before it ended a single other person bid on it and they won. I was furious. I do have a medium now though and in a prime spot so it all worked out in the end. Grats on your house!

Honestly I kind of love that moment when you're so SURE you've lost the bid only to have the CONGRATULATIONS! message come up. Don't get me wrong the housing system is kind of a hot mess but the serotonin you get from winning is pretty damn high. Grats on the house!

This was my experience too. Put a bit on a large house, I was bid number 54, checked again the day before the results period and there were 140 bids. Left it for 5 days and saw that the plot still hadn't been claimed because it was mine.

As someone who never fully understood how housing worked, I went through this for months or maybe over a year of wanting to give up. I got enough Gil to get me either a mansion or medium size PLUS either size paperwork to build. More rime went on and still didn't win. Another friend said he just wanted a small, so I went scouting with him and he chose a spot. He didn't have enough Gil, so I gave him enough for the bid and permit. He won, and I still didn't. More months go by and I wanted to quit. My friend who won already built and decorated and kept telling me I'll win one day. I go back after the update where they added more wards and see I had no chance on a mansion, but a few spots in medium, but then saw another ward that had less bids on some medium in a corner that was actually kinda nice. I bid on it. I went back and saw the bids blew up thinking I lost again and finally saw that I won. 🎉

Winning the housing lottery after losing SOOOOOOO many times is an unexplainable feeling. I even got it in a location I actually like. I have two neighbors and ones a small fc that’s really nice and the other I’ve never seen even though they signed my book. Getting a house is hard enough but getting one in a good spot is 1:1000000

I don't have a house, just a cottage. It was before the lottery when I got it. I looked at the plot, thought it was good, and bought it. 😂 I ALSO took a really long time to decorate, and I haven't finished. I hate speed decorating in games as I find it stressful. So instead, I go back every once in a while to add something. Congrats though! Tough odds, and you won in the end!

Exact same thing happened to me with my medium house in the mist. (Plot 29 I believe, the one that's up on the cliffs overlooking the beach) A FC was getting members to spam the plot and they were rude to me, telling me to "fuck off, this will be our plot." Cut to the results and I beat all eight of their bids with one of their FC members camping my gate for a week pissed I got the house over them. :D

This is how I felt after I won a plot. When they opened the new housing in Ishgard my FC moved the company house to a larger plot there, and I bid on the old plot in Limsa's housing. Won the lottery, and got me a medium sized house. XD

Dude, I got a house in Ishgard because for some reason NO ONE bid on it. And I didn't put in a bid last minute. I put it in like multiple weeks before it sold. To be fair, it's not a GREAT plot. It's like right next to the stairs, so there's no view, but it's my house and it reminds me of my childhood, where the only view you had was of the street and your neighbors doing drugs at the kitchen table.

I’ve had a house TWICE in this game. I lost it both times because I left the game for a bit and forgot to login and actually visit the house. The second time I thought I just had to login occasionally. Nope, you have to go to the house. I spent so much time trying to get those houses. It was back before the lottery. Makes me so angry to think about.

I'm so glad i was an early player so i got my house back in Stormblood and got prio from then on since it's just moving around. Definitely annoyed some people just walking up to places and boom house with people angrily cussing at me or calling me lucky since they didn't understand i moved 😂 Nowadays I'm neighbors with my FC🤣

The more I think about it... I really dropped the ball letting my small plot in the Goblet roll off. I spent 12 hours just clicking a sign, people started admiring my commitment to the plot. I got it, didn't know what to do with it once I got it, and didn't want to do crafting so ultimately I probably didn't need it. But seeing the new housing lottery, I'm feeling like I made a mistake

This wouldn’t be such an issue if they just added MORE HOUSES. I mean… if I remember the math I did before, there are about 10k houses per server, and each server has about 100k players, give or take. That means only about 10% of players can even own a house! And that’s the math before they made a lot of the houses FC only.
