Honestly, I've had both from ikea, and the desktops aren't really great, at least the cheap ones. They're cardboard coated with a laminated type layer, basically paper mache. The karlby counter top is insanely good so far for me

I have a standing desk, but to get it for the depth and the length I want. Plus to get it in a Material that would be able to take the weight I have not really found. To get the Desktop from the kitchen and have it customized to the size is just genius. Then if I want to just use the Alex Cabinet or find a standing Desk Legs for the size would not be hard to do. The tabletop and also table for that design seems to be no longer be listed. They brand have disappeared so they were probably reduced to get rid of the last of them. Ikea don't seem to have similar rustic horizontal plank designs to match either
