I've actually re-found motivation recently just trying to make as many things in my life Japanese as possible. I changed my laptop language to Japanese, I made a Japanese KZbin account, and I've just started watching stuff without English subtitles, even though I can't understand it. It's actually more fun than you'd think 🙂

Most motivation sources just happen, so they are hard to find intentionally. I think this is why most people forget all they learnt in language classes at school. They get offered the scaffolding, but most kids don't have anything inside it yet. I hadn't thought about this before... thank you for this video!

My motivation it has been understanding all the songs that I like from akina nakamori, I started learning because of her, and other 80s Japanese artist, but she’s my favorite artist of all time

For me right motivation is my love for retro tech and games. Japan had a lot of cool stuff that the west never saw back then - especially on something like the Sega Saturn. I want to play things like スーパーロボット大戦F and サクラ大戦 without resorting to translations. As I'm heading in to the third JFZ now I still have a long ways to go, but I'm sure it'll be sooner rather than later that I actually dive into struggling with media on my own.

Lol here in America, we don’t care about safety like that. Moreover, we build bigger stuff with heavy equipment like cranes, or just walk up (think like setting up a big ladder against a wall) a framed wall with a few people

Nope. Just don’t use the translation. You could translate parts yourself and then compare to the original.
